History Milene is a Maxi Racer, built in France in 1985. She was ordered for the Whitbread Race in 1986, but did not race. Milene was instead converted to IOR and sailed in the Maxi series until 1991. Milene was sold to Norway in 1994 and has sailed in the Oslo Fjord for corporate chartering until 2003. She was then purchased by her current owner who has completely upgraded her into a comfortable fast cruising yacht with teak decks and a proper interior. She has also had new paint and new electronics. Milene had a Norwegian passenger certificate for all years from 1996 up to and including 2003 and is equipped for offshore regattas. Building method Milene is designed by Gilles Vatton to ABS standard. She is built in sandwich construction with GRP as facing materials and with a polyurethane foam core. Vacuum cured in 120 deg C. Area around keel is in monoblock GRP. Condition After grounding in 2002 Milene was fully repaired but the keel is slightly distorted. This will not affect her cruising or charters operation but will need attention if serious racing is contemplated. Milene was repainted in 1997 and in 2003 and has been upgraded every year. New Kevlar runners in 1999, New Harken main sail bat car system in 1999. All halyards new 2001, New bilge pumps in 2002. New forestay with Harken furling in 2003. 2004 to present date hull repaint of hull and deck, teak laid decks, new seating area on deck. New running rigging and genoa, mainsail and spinnaker. In addition she has 2 x50 cruising winches with 2 additional halyard winches and mainsail jammer. The instrumentation is new and she has a new anchoring arrangement.
