3/3/17 Transition Bib numbers assigned randomly. Athlete rack location marked with placard. Bikes racked by front of saddle facing field of play/ flow of traffic. Gear on bike, behind front wheel of bike or in Transition Bin. Once racked in Transition, bike cannot be removed until competion begins. Swim Course 375M (1 Lap) Transition 1 Course Counter clockwise 1 Lap (buoys on right). Beach start. All equipment (used or unused) must go in Transition Bin. Athletes receive swim cap & chip at swim start. Athletes called down to prestart line on beach. Move to start line at Take Your Mark! Air horn starts race. Water temp: 73 F 3
Bike Course 10K = 2 Laps Lollipop shape. 1 180 degree turn each lap. Ride through Transition on each lap. Wheel Pit located in Transition. (Drop off well-marked wheels at Athlete Lounge 30 minutes prior to your race. Once race begins wheels will not be accepted.) Lap Out/Overlap rule in effect. Transition 2 Rack bike by seat, or both handle bars/both brake levers. All used/unused equipment must be placed in Transition Bin. Run Course 2.5K = 1 Laps Run course is a shorter loop of bike course. 2 aid stations. Turn around to complete lap is just prior to finish chute (run lap does not travel through Transition). Finish line just beyond run course turn. Distance markers: 1K from Transition & 1K to Finish. Post-Race Hospitality near Finish Line. Awards ceremony hosted at Finish Line after all races completed. Awards for top three athletes in each race. Check-in Located outside Transition. Bring bike, helmet (on head), uniform (on body), body marking in place at this check-in. 2 tattoos (each shoulder), bike number and helmet number in race package. 4
3/3/17 Uniform & Aero Bars Uniform must cover torso. Clip-on aerobars may not extend beyond brake levers. Aerobars must be touching or joined both with solid standard factory bridge at forward most point. Bar-end plugs in place. 27 28 Helmet Athletes must wear undamaged, unaltered protective head cover (helmet). Clearly labeled by the manufacturer as satisfying such standards (original sticker in place). Must meet or exceed safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). (:10) Must make forward motion at swim start. (:10) Summary of Competition Penalties Helmet must be buckled when touching bike. (:10) Riding bike in Transition (Mount or Dismount). (:10) Lap count. (DSQ) Behaving in an unsportsmanlike way. (DSQ) Swearing Violence Using fence, trees, etc. to navigate around course. (:10) 6
Lap Out Rule in Effect Penalties Yellow Card Stop and Go/Amend verbal warning Time Penalty :10 Served in Transition or Penalty Box Red Card Disqualified Athlete s who receive the Red Card may complete the race, except for those athletes who are lapped out. Penalty Box Penalties not served in Transtion will be served in Penalty Box. Penalty Box located prior to Finish Line (200M). Bib number will be written on white board at Penalty Box. Procedure: Identify yourself; Official will start timing penalty; Must remain in Penalty Box entire time; May not receive any outside assistance while serving penalty; Official will let you know when your time is served. Penalties not served will result in disqualification. Check the Penalty Board! Protest or Appeal: Protest: An athlete may file a Protest with Lead provided has not been previously observed by Officials and ruled upon. A Protest is filed against the conduct of an athlete, an athlete s equipment, an Official, or the conditions of the competition. Appeal: An Appeal is a request for review of a decision made by Officials or the Competition Jury. Protest or Appeal: Generally, Protests or Appeals must follow these steps: 1. Notify Lead Official of intent to submit a Protest or Appeal within 5 minutes of finish time. 2. Lead Official will provide appropriate form for athlete to complete. 3. The completed Protest or Appeal form must be submitted to Lead Official no more than 15 minutes after athlete s finish time. A deposit of $50 USD must accompany the Protest or Appeal form. 7
Protest or Appeal: Protests or Appeals are reviewed by the Lead Official and the Competition Jury. All decisions on Appeals are final. Questions directed to USA Triathlon.
