The Porsche Race to Singapore charts the WTA Finals qualification journey where players compete to earn ranking points over 52 WTA tournaments and 4 Grand Slams in 30 countries. The top 8 singles players and doubles teams will earn a coveted spot at the WTA Finals. The WTA ranks: each singles player according to her WTA Ranking as of the Monday after the final regular-season Tournament of the current Tour Year; each doubles team according to the total ranking points they earn from their best eleven (11) Tournament results as a team during the Tour Year as of the Monday after the final regular-season Tournament of the current Tour Year. Singles and Doubles Competition In the Singles competition, the top 8 Singles players will compete in a Round Robin format, with two groups of four players each. The top two players of each group will then advance to the Semi Finals, where each of the group winners will meet the runner-ups in the other group. The winners of each Semi Final will meet in the Final, where they will compete for the coveted Billie Jean King Trophy. The Doubles competition will see the top 8 doubles teams compete in a knock-out format for the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Doubles Trophy. Her championship match win was also her first-ever win over Venus Williams, after a 7-0 record since 2007. Oakland (1978) New York City (1977, 1979-2000) Madrid (2006-07) Munich (2001) Caroline Wozniacki is the only Danish player to compete at the WTA Finals since it was launched in 1972. 2017 Doubles Champion Timea Babos and Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková Istanbul (2011-13) emerged champions after playing together for only 6 months. With a total of five titles in 2017, they were undoubtedly one of the best pairings that season.
