SHERRY TULL, NFSC PRESIDENT: Happy Holidays to all our Skating Families: I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate all our Regional and Sectional competitors. The Nashville Figure Skating Club was well represented and we were so proud of our skaters and all their hard work and dedication. Due to the uncertainty of Agame s future, I want to inform everyone about the future plans for the club. As of January 1, 2016, the Skate Academy is expanding to Centennial Sportsplex. The Nashville Skating Academy will be operating within the Centennial complex and will run alongside the Agame Skate Academy, to include Learn to Skate, low - through advanced classes and ice time. No matter the resolution with the sale of Agame, we will continue to have the new addition of Centennial as part of our program going forward, and we are very excited to now be able to offer that venue to our skaters as well as Agame. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will keep the Club informed as more developments come to light. Let s celebrate our many accomplishments and skating community with our two shows of Enchanted Winter Wonderland on Ice on Friday, December 11th at AGAME and Sunday, December 20th at Centennial Sportsplex!
Congratulations to our Regional and Sectional Skaters The Nashville Figure Skating Club was well represented at the 2016 Eastern Great Lakes (EGL) Regional Figure Skating Championship in Fort Wayne, IN as fifteen our skaters competed. A total of nine Regional Championships were held across the United States and are the first events in U.S. Figure Skating qualifying pipeline. There are five competitive levels within the U.S. Figure Skating qualifying system: Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior, and Senior. Skaters who finish in the top four of a qualifying event at Regionals will then progress to one of three Sectional Championships held in November; medalists from the three Sectionals then comprise the 12 skaters who compete for a national title at the U.S. Prudential Figure Skating Championship which is held in January. Each Regional Championship also hosts events for four Non-Qualifying competitive levels: Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, Pre- Juvenile, and Open Juvenile. Skaters progress through to final rounds where a Regional Champion at each level is crowned. Our NFSC Regional skaters competed with more than 400 skaters representing 48 Clubs from across Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Alabama. NFSC skaters at Regionals: Pre-Preliminary: Logan Bradey, Brooksie Nix, David Raskin, and Hayden Wood Pre-Juvenile: Zoe Villanueva Open Juvenile: Kristin Lyle George, Julia-Rose Neff, Elise Pierce, and Torrey Russell Juvenile: Esmie Otter and Ching Ching Zhang Intermediate: Caroline Harris, Jake Pagano, and Shelby Tull Novice: Valeria Olano Caroline Harris finished in third place and advanced to the 2016 Midwestern Sectional Championship in Strongville, OH. Two of our pairs teams - Linde LaChance / Kenneth Anderson (Junior) and Kristin Lyle George / Jake Pagano (Intermediate) skated at Sectionals and will advance to compete at the U.S. Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota to be held January 16-24, 2016. Congratulations to all our competitors and a big thanks to the NFSC coaches who helped prepare them for a great finish to the skating year! We are so proud of you! SAVE THE DATE! January 8, 2016, NFSC will be holding a Test Session. Please see your coach for details. The Deadline for SEGL s in Cincinnati, OH is also on January 8th, and WE WANT A HUGE CLUB PARTICIPATION! We will be having a pizza/sign-up for SEGL s party and the club will be helping to defray the cost of this competition by giving all skaters who sign up for SEGL s a $25.00 check! Stay tuned for details!

COACHES CORNER Shannon Middleton 12 years Coaching Gold Medalist Moves in the Field and Ice Dance Competed at Nationals in 2002 Training on and off the ice is very important in becoming a better ice skater. A great way to train on the ice is to run programs back to back and to go through jumps and spins that you might of missed in the program. Doing classes every week such as stroking, edge/curry, etc. is another great way to add to your on ice training. Off- ice training should include cardio, weights, Pilates and ballet. The amount of effort you put in will determine your level of success. Hard work will pay off, just remember to stay focused and have fun!
