ITINERARY DESCRIPTION DAY 1 JOURNEY: PALAMÓS - LLAFRANC DISTANCE: 16KM ELEVATION CHANGE: 350M DESCRIPTION: We will start our day on Palamós Village, on our way we will pass by Margarida Fishermen huts, Cap Gros natural reserve and then one the most important ancient Iberian town in the region, after that we will visit the Barraca d en Dalí one of the places where Salvador Dalí and other famous painters used to work, after running by small trails through the Mediterranean forest will get to some extraordinarily beautiful hidden beaches accessible only by boat or foot, at the end of the day you ll get to Calella and Llafranch beautiful fishermen towns where many of the nowadays ancestors Cubans came from.
DAY 2 JOURNEY: LLAFRANCH - PALS DISTANCE: 22KM ELEVATION CHANGE: 750M DESCRIPTION: From Llafranch we will start running up to the light house El Far de Sant Sebastià where there is another ancient Iberian village, nice Mediterranean Sea sights from here. Then we will keep following forest trails next to the coast line until Tamariu, a lovely typical Catalonian marine town, at this point we ll take inland forest path to Begur, we will visit it s Castle and run by its cobblestone road, then we will climb up the Quermany mountains forests, we ll take a break to see the great views of the area and start to descend by the other side of the mountain to get to Pals, the most important medieval village in the area..
DAY 3 JOURNEY: SANTA CATERINA- CALA PEDROSA KAYAK TO CALA MONTGO DISTANCE RUNNING: 15 KM DISTANCE KAYAKING: 4KM ELEVATION CHANGE: 650M DESCRIPTION RUNNING: After a 25 minutes drive from Begur we will start running from Santa Caterina Chapel in the middle of a rocky valley underneath the Castle of Torroella, after the first kms of technical trails we ll get to the forest of El Montgri, a natural protected area, running by sandy trails we ll get to a remote small beach in between amazing cliffs and clear blue water, there we will have a typical Catalan sandwich, then we will get to the kayaks and star paddling our way north. DESCRIPTION KAYAKING: On our kayaks we will visit spectacular cliffs, we will cross through tunnels on the middle of the mountains and visit some former pirate caves, we will end the day at the sandy beach of Cala Montgo.
DAY 4 JOURNEY: GIRONA- ST MIQUEL S CASTLE - GIRONA DISTANCE: 21,5KM ELEVATION CHANGE: 620M DESCRIPTION: To start the running day we will go through Girona's historical city center visiting the old Jewish quarter, which is one of the best preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe, Saint Felix church, the Cathedral and run the paths around the old Roman city walls. Through the narrow cobbled streets of the old part of the city we will get up to Torre Gironella and from there we will go by small trails through the Gavarres Forest up to Sant Miquel Castle, at this point we will get a sight of many of the places we will visit in the following days, after a short break we will start our way down back to Girona.
