Regional Tournament Teams; We would first like to thank you and your respective State for participating in the 2013 Mid-West Plains Regional 12U Softball Tournament this summer in Sikeston, Missouri. The Sikeston Area Youth League, Board Members, players and the residents of the Sikeston Babe Ruth League communities would like to welcome your State, team, families, fans and members of your community to Sikeston, Missouri. We hope it will be a memorable and rewarding experience that you will remember for years to come! Sikeston Area Youth League and the City of Sikeston are excited and eager to help make your time with us enjoyable. We will have team check in on Wednesday, July 17 th. Team members, coaches, and managers are required to attend their scheduled check-in time. The Regional winner automatically qualifies for the 12U World Series in Alachua, Florida, August 1-8, with travel on July 31. The Regional runner-up will also have the opportunity to advance to the 12U World Series with certain travel limitations. MEMO TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT MANAGERS 1. Double check your credential packet. Be sure that you have all required documents. 2. Managers, coaches, will have a room set aside for you; these expenses are the responsibility of your local league/team. Help in making reservations at the Headquarters Hotel Pear Tree Inn by Drury Hotels is available through the Tournament Director. Coaches only call Niki Sitzes (573)703-5908 (c) and she will give you the contact person for the hotel reservation information. Parents will get a special rate also but no rooms are set aside for them. We have attached a list of some of the other hotels in the area. You will need to provide contact numbers for all coaches, managers and where you are staying at check-in. If there are changes to the schedule for games we will contact you at the numbers provided. We are NOT responsible if you do not answer and are late for games. 3. Make sure you arrive at the check-in site as a complete team and at your designated time. Teams are to arrive and depart as a complete group. There will be NO Exceptions, unless there has been prior approval from the Regional Commissioner. All such requests must be fully documented. Any player not excused and missing from check-in will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. 4. The team, manager and coaches are required to attend the welcoming social. Managers and coaches are required to attend the Officials Meeting at 2:30 pm at the Clinton Building at 501 Campanella Dr., Sikeston, Mo. Tournament rules will be discussed at this time. 5. Remind your players that there is a curfew. It is 11:00 p.m. or one (1) hour after the finish of the last scheduled game of the day. 6. Any questions regarding any aspect of the tournament should be directed to the task force member in charge. 7. Remember that managers and coaches shall wear uniforms consistent with the Babe Ruth Champion Teams with the Babe Ruth Softball patch on the left shoulder. 8. Good sportsmanship makes the game enjoyable for everyone. Anyone acting in an unsportsmanlike manner will be removed form the playing field and facilities immediately. 9. Be sure to have a team meeting and read through the Player s Guide with your team! Be sure that they know what is expected of them. Page 4

Important Notes & Times Tournament Picnic: All coaches, managers, players, must attend the social at the Clinton Building at 4:00 PM on Wednesday July 17, 2012. Families are welcome. The cost will be $4.00 per person, ages 6 and under are $2.00. Officials Meeting: All Officials, Coaches, Managers, Head Umpire, State Task Force, and members of the tournament committee are REQUIRED to attend. The meeting will be held at Clinton Building at 3:00 PM on Wednesday July 17, 2013 following the completion of check-in of all teams. Opening Ceremonies: All coaches, managers, and players MUST attend the Opening Ceremonies which will be held at 5:15 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Softball Complex-see attached map. Please report to the park no later than 5:00 PM in full uniform at the designated location at the fields. Concessions: Hot and cold concessions will be available before, during, and after all games at the ballpark. Bring some extra spending money and enjoy a snack during the game! Water coolers for the team will be provided in the dugouts. NO COOLERS, PICNIC BASKETS, SMOKING, OR ALCOHOL WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK OR THE COMPLEX! TEAMS MAY USE COOLERS FOR TOWELS AND OTHER FIRST AID RELATED ITEMS. WATER WILL BE PROVIDED IN EACH DUGOUT. Team Awards: Team trophies and the championship banner will be awarded to the champion. Individual medals will be provided for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place teams. Individual awards will also be given to the tournament most outstanding player, pitcher, hitter, and defense. All awards will be presented at Closing Ceremonies following the championship game of the tournament. The Colleen & Norm Travis Team Sportsmanship and accompanying individual pins will also be awarded. Host Community (Sikeston): The City of Sikeston would like to welcome you all to our community. From Springfield, Take the exit onto S-60 east approximately 170 miles and merge to US- 60/US-67 S go 4.8 miles then merge onto US-61/US-62 to Sikeston (48 miles). Take the US- 61 ramp to Sikeston and turn left on US-61/S Main, go 1.8 miles north to E. Malone. Tournament Program Pictures: Please Email your team picture with player names in the order they appear on the picture to the Tournament Director Nancy Walker (nancyjwalker14@hotmail.com). We encourage you to send your pictures ASAP and follow up after your tournament representatives are assigned. Parents, Family and Fans-Souvenirs: Parents, family and fans are invited to check-in, but not required to attend. Tournament souvenir shirts, official programs and picnic tickets will be available for purchase at check-in time, at the picnic and during the tournament. Souvenir Programs ($5 each), souvenir t-shirts (short-sleeved for $20 each and long-sleeved for $25 each) will be available during check-in and during the tournament; although you are encouraged to purchase yours at check-in. Prices will not be reduced during the tournament. Pre-Game Information: Warm ups will be allowed only on the practice field or on other designated areas on the enclosed park map. DO NOT warm up on the baseball field without permission from the Tournament Director. DO NOT warm up in the area between the softball fields or Parking Lot. No pregame infield/outfield will be allowed on the game fields. This includes any pregame "grounder line." Pitchers and catchers may use the batting cage area to warm up. When you enter the field, your team needs to be ready to play ball. Home team shall use the third base dugout and visitors shall use the first base dugout. Be ready to play. Turn line-ups into official scorekeepers 15 minutes prior to game time. Scorekeepers will be located behind home plate. Line-ups: Ensure that your lineup is filled out correctly before presenting it to the official scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to your scheduled game time. Line-up cards should be 4 part, with the white or top copy going to the official scorekeeper. The second copy should be presented to the umpire, third copy presented to your opponent, and last copy is for your use. You must include players number, position played, first and last name. Lineup cards that are filled out incorrectly will be returned to manager to correct. Gate Admission: There will be modest gate fee charged at this tournament. Actual prices to be provided at checkin time. There will be a concession stand and we encourage you to support the local Babe Ruth Program. Tournament Souvenir Shirts: Tournament T-Shirts can be pre-ordered: short-sleeved for $15 and long-sleeved for $20. All orders will go directly to the Tounament Director and are due by Monday July 15. Parents/Coaches should complete the attached pre-order form. If not pre-ordered, t-shirts will be on sale at check-in and during the tournament: short-sleeved for $20 and long-sleeved for $25 - until sold out.

Page 12 Player Instructions Officials of Babe Ruth League, Inc. and the hard working host city have made extensive efforts to make certain your stay will be pleasant and rewarding. Therefore, we shall expect that you absolutely cooperate with the following regulations pertaining to your actions during the tournament. Assistance: We want all players to thoroughly enjoy themselves during the tournament. If you need any information or assistance please contact your team manager immediately. Conduct: Your conduct must be above reproach on and off the field. Any misbehavior or misconduct could not only cause you disqualification from the tournament but could also disqualify your team as well. Schedule: Follow your team schedule at all times. Be at practice sessions, tournament games and special events on time. Be sure to check with your manager and the Tournament Director whenever you wish to divert from the listed functions. Appearance: As champions we expect your dress to be neat. You may of course dress informally and comfortably. At all times, neatness and cleanliness of appearance is required. Curfew: Curfew time is 11:00 pm or (1) hour after the day s last scheduled activity or tournament game. If an event or game goes beyond 12:00 midnight all participating team members will return to their housing facilities. There will be no one (1) hour grace period. Uniforms: Each player on the same team shall wear a different number on their uniform. The division appropriate Official Shoulder Emblem must be worn on each team member s left shirt sleeve. (For sleeveless uniforms the shoulder emblem must be worn on the left front chest). For additional requirements see the attached Regional Uniform Requirements. Swimming: You are not permitted to take part in any water activities other than swimming (i.e. no diving, etc.). You must also check with your manager and/or coaches prior to planning to go swimming, particularly on game days.

Flags/Banners: If your league or team has a banner or flag (or State Flag), please arrange to bring it with you. We will display them at the picnic and request you display it during the opening ceremonies. Housing: No host family housing is provided for this tournament. Managers/Coaches Uniforms: The Manager and Coaches must each have a matching jersey which matches their players. Coach's jerseys do not need to contain a number. Coaches may wear "coach's shorts" as long as the coach s shorts are the same color, match each other, and are in general color coordination with the team colors. Umpires: The umpires provided for this tournament have many years of experience working softball. They will enforce all rules and regulations covered in the official softball rulebook and the rules and regulations of Babe Ruth Softball. Please treat them with respect at all times. Only the manager will be allowed to discuss an umpire s decision or any play of a controversial nature. The home plate umpire will be informed of the identity of each team s manager prior to the start of each game. Sportsmanship: Any player, manager, coach or fan acting in an un-sportsmanlike manner will be removed from the playing field and facility immediately. Such behavior may also result in disqualification from the tournament. Spending Money: Each player should bring money to potentially purchase a program, tournament t-shirt, concession items, and other personal items that they might need. Say Thank You : Players, please take the time to say thank you to the host volunteers, who have given their time and gone out of their way to make players, coaches and families feel welcome at the tournament. Catcher s Gear: Catchers are required to wear a mask and helmet during warm-ups both before and during the game. Any other player that is used to warm up a pitcher either between innings or in the bullpen should wear a helmet and a mask. Batting Helmets: An approved, double ear flap batting helmet must be worn at bat, while running the bases, in the on-deck circle and by any other player that might be coaching at first or third base. In addition, all bat persons must wear a batting helmet while on the playing field. Use of the caged helmets is required for all Babe Ruth play. In the Dugouts and on the Field: Only players, managers, coaches and bat persons will be allowed in each team s dugout or on the field. Anyone in the dugout must be on a league s roster during the regular season and also included on the tournament roster. This does not include your bat person. Equipment: Bats, gloves, balls and other equipment must be kept in the dugout, in the proper place and never on the field. Discarding of bats, helmets, gloves or any other items in an unsportsmanlike manner can result in an ejection from the game. Host Team: Members of the Host Team are to be treated and are subject to all the same regulations as the other participating teams.
