Sight! Sound! Smell! Touch! A Multi-sensory Experience at Chester Zoo At Chester Zoo there is more than just seeing animals! You can smell, hear and sense them! Visit the animal enclosures and feel our resin models, smell our scents and listen to our story boards all set on our colourful interpretive signs. We want to make your visit to us as fulfilling and as educational as possible. Our Discovery Programmes are hands-on and interactive and your time around the zoo will be enhanced by the presence of our Zoo Ranger Team. You will find a Zoo Ranger giving talks, in Fruit Bat Forest and cycling around on their trike with a fantastic collection of artefacts which you ll be able to touch as they tell you all about them. Seek out the Zoo Ranger in Fruit Bat Forest and ask questions; you may be shown a bat by using a special torch and you might feel one whizz by you. Our Zoo Ranger Team is there to help you and enrich your day. Chester Zoo is a multi-sensory experience for everyone to enjoy and here are a few ideas to stimulate all the senses. Sound Of course, the first sounds to listen out for are those made by the animals the birds, chimpanzees, Lar Gibbons, Giant Otters and particularly the different kinds of monkeys are good for starters. Our interpretation, though, offers plenty of other sounds to ignite your pupils interest in the natural world: Elephants of the Asian Forest Miniature Monkeys Painted Dogs Video clips with voice over in viewing pavilion Soundboard Soundboard of owl sounds Coucal call, creaking bridge, video clips with voiceover Smell Animal smells are a part of the zoo and particularly pungent ones can be found inside the Elephant house, at the camels and at the Congo Buffalo! More aromatic smells can be found on some of our interpretation. Tiger Trail Scent

Touch Your pupils can t feel our animals, but we have lots of interpretation which can be touched and will give an idea of the shape and size of some of the animal and plant kingdom.
