Meet The New Faces On The Bench Joining Head Coach Joe Logan on the Greyhounds bench this season will be four year-veteran Jill Glessner, and new additions Ryan Gensler and Laura Harper. Gensler joins the Greyhounds staff after spending the last two seasons at St. Bonaventure University where he was an assistant coach to Jim Crowley. In his first season with the Bonnies, Gensler helped the women s basketball team to a program-record 31 wins and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. St. Bonaventure finished the Atlantic 10 Conference season with a perfect 14-0 record, winning the conference regular season title for the first time in school history. Harper, a former University of Maryland standout and WBNA post player, joined the women s basketball coaching staff as an assistant in early September. Harper replaced another former Terrapins player whose jersey now resides in the Comcast Center rafters, Keith Booth. Harper, who played four seasons at Maryland, graduated from the school in 2008 and was picked 10th overall in the WNBA draft to the Sacramento Monarchs. She led the Terrapins to the 2006 National Championships. At the tournament, she received the NCAA Final Four Outstanding Player award, after scoring a career-high 24 points in the semifinal game against North Carolina. Harper sits atop the charts at Maryland with 198 blocked shots for the Terrapins. She ranks sixth in free throws made, while scoring 1,407 points in the Maryland jersey. Krusen From Behind The Arc Nicole Krusen broke Loyola s single-game record on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, for the most three-point field goals made, connecting on seven of her 11 shots from downtown. In the same matchup, Krusen scored a career-high 21 points, the first 20-plus point game of her career. The Rockville, Md., native made seven shots from the field, while also grabbing three defensive boards against the Manhattan College Jaspers. Earlier in her junior season, Krusen recorded her first double-duble against the UMBC Retrievers Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. The guard posted 15 points and 10 rebounds, going 5-8 from behind the arc. Last season, she led the Greyhounds in shots from the line, connecting on 13 of her 15 attempts from the charity stripe, as her career-percentage is number one in program history at 86.5-percent. Krusen ranks second in Loyola s all-time three-point field goal percentage, making 36.5-percent of her shots from downtown. Home Sweet Home

The Greyhounds are 0-1 in Reitz Arena this year. Head Coach Joe Logan has led the team to a 60-42 overall record on the home hardwood. Offodile On The Blocked Shots List In addition to leading the 2012-13 squad in blocked shots, senior Nneka Offodile is leaving her mark on the program s all-time blocked shots list. The six-foot forward currently ranks 10th all-time with 57 stops, and is four blocks away from passing Mary Anne Kirsch ( 95-99) who recorded 61 during her time in the green and grey uniform. Non-Conference Action Four of Loyola s 11 non-conference games will be against teams that qualified for postseason play last season, including one NCAA Tournament team. The Greyhounds start the season off in College Park, Md., to take on the University of Maryland on Sunday, Nov. 10. The Terrapins have qualified for 10-straight postseasons after going 26-8 last season and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals in 2013. Loyola plays its home opener on Thursday, Nov. 14, as the Greyhounds host the University of Hartford. The Hawks made it to the first round of the WNIT last season, qualifying for postseason play for the ninth consecutive year. The Greyhounds then travel to Greenville, N.C., to take on first-time opponent East Carolina. The Pirates made their second appearance in the WNIT, after going 22-9 last season. 2013 marked the second-consecutive year Howard University played in the postseason, getting invited to participate in the Women s Basketball Invitational in Philadelphia. The Bison held a 20-11 overall record in 2012-13, but dropped the MEAC Championship title game to the No. 1 seed Hampton Pirates. Sheahin Signs Overseas Katie Sheahin, a 2013 graduate of Loyola, signed a professional contract to play in Germany s Division I League for the Giro Live Panthers. A two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conferece Defensive Player of the Year, Sheahin will play in the top basketball league in Germany. Last year, the team went 16-13-1, and made it to the semifinals of the league playoff. Sheahin joins Miriam McKenzie, Erica DiClemente, Vika Sholokhova, Siobhan Prior and current Greyhound assistant coach Jill Glessner as players coached by Joe Logan who have continued their basketball careers professionally. Women s basketball was one of eight Loyola programs to record a perfect score, as the Greyhounds achieved a 95-percent cumulative graduation rate for all sports for the 2003-2006 cohorts that make up this year s report. That rate is tied for 20th among the 346 NCAA Division I schools included in the report. Can t Make It To The Game...No Worries In August 2013, the Patriot League launched a free network featuring live and on-demand content from all 10 league schools on a free-hd platform. All of Loyola s home games, and conference road contests will be streamed live and for free of charge on the network. No log-in or subrciption is required, and fans can watch hundreds of Patriot League games in a variety of sports at www.patriotleague.tv. What s Missing The Greyhounds lost Katie Sheahin, Alyssa Sutherland and Candice Walker to graduation. Sheahin ended her career as the all-time leader in steals in Greyhound history with 347 thefts. The two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year left as Loyola s third-leading scorer with 1,513 points. She also has the most minutes played in Loyola history with 3,980 minutes. Sutherland finished with the most games started in Loyola history with 100. She also ranked fifth in steals at 195, and second in minutes played with 3,518. Not Your Average Joe Head coach Joe Logan enters his ninth season at the helm for the Greyhounds, with a 121-125 career record. He has led Loyola to two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title games, and a WNIT invitation in 2009. Logan became the all-time winningest coach in Loyola women s basketball history with a, 67-54, win at Siena on January 7, 2012. Logan has led Loyola to two 20-plus win seasons in his tenure, including tying a program record best 21 wins in 2010-11. Logan is assisted by Jill Glessner, Ryan Gensler and Laura Harper.

She shot 9 of 17 from the field with seven rebounds in Friday s 67-62 win over Rider at home, and pitched in 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the young campaign with two blocks in a 70-69 win at Brown on Sunday. Her efforts were instrumental in Lafayette outscoring its opponents by a combined 82-36 in the paint over the weekend. Homan knocked down a pair of foul shots in the final 30 seconds to seal Friday s win over the Broncs, and made the go-ahead layup in Sunday s victory at Brown with 24 seconds to go. Rookie of the Week - KAYLA BURTON With starting point guard Hilary Weaver out due to injury, Burton stepped up with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds in 19 minutes in Lehigh s 93-73 victory at Niagara on Friday night. The rookie shot 4 of 7 overall and 3 of 5 from the 3-point line to pace a Mountain Hawk offense that posted its largest offensive output since a 93-78 win over Bucknell during the 1989-90 season. Friday also marked Lehigh s first win in a season opener since the 2009-10 campaign. Honorable Mentions DANIELLE CALLAHAN, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., 5-7, G, Drexel Hill, Pa.
