SPECIFICATION Normal Operating Conditions are considered as: - inlet dynamic pressures nominally balanced to within 10% of each other during flow. - a differential of approximately 50 o C between the hot and cold inlet temperatures, and with differentials of 15-35 o C between the blend setting and either supply. - daily usage of 1-6 hours. - installation and usage environment not subject to extremes of temperature, unauthorised tampering or wilful abuse. Other Applications For information on other specific applications or suitability, refer to Kohler Mira Ltd, or Local Agent. Disinfection In applications where system chemical disinfection is practised, chlorine can be used (calculated chlorine concentration of 50 mg/l (ppm) maximum in water, per one hour dwell time, at service interval frequency). Such procedures must be conducted strictly in accordance with the information supplied with the disinfectant and with all relevant Guidelines/Approved Codes of Practice. If in any doubt as to the suitability of chemical solutions, refer to Kohler Mira Ltd, or Local Agent. Pressures and Flow Rates For optimum performance, dynamic supply pressures should be nominally equal. Recommended Minimum Running Pressure: 0.15 bar (with regulator removed). Recommended Maximum Static Pressure: 10 bar. Time cycle: Preset to approximately 10 seconds, subject to site conditions (Low water pressures may reduce this time period. High water pressure may increase this time period). Time duration may be increased in six graduated steps to approximately 16 seconds (See COMMISSIONING) 6

Flow rates: Flow Curves For conservation of energy and water, an economical flow rate may be obtained by setting the internal flow adjuster to one of five positions. The graph shows the flow rates for each of the five positions for all models. All taps are fitted with a flow straightener and are supplied adjusted to position S4. Note: An optional flow regulator (4 litres/min.) is also available as a spare. TF2020 and TF2020S Low Pressure Flow Rate (l/min) 12.5 S5 10 S4 7.5 S3 5 2.5 S2 S1 0 0 0.5 1 1.5 2 Running Pressure (bar) TF2020 and TF2020S High Pressure Flow Rate (l/min) 20 15 10 5 S5 S4 S3 S2 S1 0 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 Running Pressure (bar) Connections: Inlet supply connections are made via 2 x 1/2" BSP female nuts at the end of flexible inlet tails. 7

INSTALLATION Fit to Basin Important! Flush supply pipework thoroughly before connection. 1. Remove retaining nut, pipe clamp and rubber gasket from mixer tap. 2. Connect flexible tail connectors. Make sure O-rings are fitted correctly. 3. Fit tap to basin. Make sure basin sealing ring is concentric with the mixer tap body. O-rings Basin Tap Body Rubber Gasket Pipe Clamp Retaining Nut 4. Fit rubber gasket and pipe clamp. Screw on retaining nut. Flexible Tail Connectors 5. Connect the flexible tail connectors to the 1/2 Adaptor (Make sure the plastic washers are in place). Note! Check valves are located in the flex tails. 6. Fit the strainers seals supplied to the checkvalve assemblies. 7. Flexible tail connector Plastic washer 1/2" Adaptor Strainer Seal Flat-face adaptor 15mm compression isolating valve (not supplied) 8

COMMISSIONING Commissioning must be carried out in accordance with these instructions, and must be conducted by designated, qualified and competent personnel. Commissioning Checks 1. Turn on water supplies to the tap. 2. Operate the tap (see section OPERATION) and check: - Flow-rate is sufficient for purpose. - The connection to the supply is watertight. The flow control and flow time are preset at manufacture, however both may be adjusted, see below. Flow Rate Control Setting The TF2020 and TF2020S are factory set to flow position S4. Should the installation pressures require adjustment of the flow rate, any one of the five different flow rate positions, S1 to S5 may be selected, with S5 being the least restrictive. Adjust the flow rate as follows: 1. Isolate the water supply. Remove the tap knob and unscrew the head assembly (see MAINTENANCE). 2. Remove the head assembly and attached cartridge. 3. Turn the adjusting ring (coloured black on the TF2020 and green on the TF2020S) on the cartridge clockwise or anticlockwise according to the flow rate required (see Figure 1 and Flow Rate Adjustment Chart). Note: Taps are supplied set in position S4. 4. Install the cartridge and head assembly into the body (see MAINTENANCE). 9

Flow Time Duration Setting (Refer to Figure 3) The flow time duration setting has been factory set in position 6, which gives approximately 10 seconds flow duration, but can be adjusted if required. A special tool is available from Customer Support, free of charge (see ACCESSORIES). There are six possible positions, which are set as follows: 1. Remove the knob (see MAINTENANCE). 2. Insert the special tool into the black upper stop and turn to the desired setting. As the black ring is rotated, a lug will appear in the window in the skirt. It is important that the black ring is adjusted so that the lug is positively located in the window in one of the six positions. To increase the time duration, turn the black ring clockwise. Each position changes the duration by approximately one second (position 1 = approximately 16 seconds, position 6 = approximately 10 seconds). Upper Stop - Special Tool Skirt Window + Flow Time Duration Setting Figure 3 11

Flow Regulator (Refer to Figure 4) An optional flow regulator is available as a spare and must be installed as shown in Figure 4. This will provide a comfortable flow of about 4 l/min at a pressure of between 1 and 10 bar. Note: The flow regulator will not function at pressures less than 1 bar. Flow Regulator Flow Regulator Figure 4 Flow Straightener Hot Water Temperature Control (Refer to Figure 5) The maximum outlet water temperature can be limited by inserting stop pins (supplied) into the mixer lever. The stop pins limit the mixer lever travel. Insert the stop pins as follows: Note: The TF2020 and TF2020S are supplied with two pins fitted. This limits the maximum blend temperature to 40 o C, providing the hot supply temperature does not exceed 60 o C. 1. Remove the mixer lever (see MAINTENANCE). 2. Insert the stop pins on the mixer lever as required (see chart at Figure 6) and tap home with a mallet or other suitable tool. 12

OPERATION TF2020 The TF2020 is simple to use. A firm push on the tap knob starts the water flowing for the duration of the flow timing. The water temperature and flow timing is factory set, but this can be altered (see COMMISSIONING). If the tap knob is pushed again whilst the tap is flowing a further preset cycle will commence. TF2020S The TF2020S is fitted with a security "S" cartridge. The tap is operated by a firm push on the tap knob, however, flow will not commence until the tap knob is released. The water temperature and flow timing is factory set but this can be altered (see COMMISSIONING). If the tap knob is pushed again whilst the water is flowing the flow will cease. The tap knob has to be released again to achieve water flow. 14

FAULT DIAGNOSIS Symptom 1. Tap not working. (No flow) 2. Tap will not shut off. 3. Tap shuts off too quickly. Cause/Rectification a. Check Inlet supplies. b. Remove the cartridge and clean the mechanism under running water: refer to MAINTENANCE for removal. Note: Cartridges may only be cleaned by flushing through under a jet of clean water to remove lodged particles. Do not descale. Cartridges are not serviceable, and must not be dismantled. a. Check the piston seal for cleanliness. b. Ensure that the spindle spring slides freely in its aperture. Refer to MAINTENANCE for removal. a. Check the cleanliness of the sealing cap in the piston. b. Check the spindle spring for damage. Refer to MAINTENANCE for removal. 15

General MAINTENANCE Rada products are precision-engineered and should give continued superior and safe performance, provided: 1. They are installed, commissioned, operated and maintained in accordance with our recommendations 2. Periodic attention is given as necessary to maintain the product in good functional order. Guidelines for frequency are given below. The maintenance requirement for taps in this series is minimal and concerns temperature, performance and functional checks and inspection, with cartridge renewal when necessary. In larger installations with a number of taps, it is good policy to maintain a small stock of cartridges so that no tap need be out of commission for more than the time it takes to exchange the cartridge. The minimum designed service life of all cartridges used in our products is five years under normal operating conditions. However, when supply conditions and/or usage patterns do not conform to 'normal operating conditions' the cartridge may need to be replaced more frequently (refer to SPECIFICATION for 'normal operating conditions'). The use of main supply-line or zone strainers (with a recommended maximum mesh aperture dimension of 0.5 mm) will reduce the need to remove debris at each shower control point. Rada Service Engineers/Agents will call by prior arrangement, if required. Service Contracts may be undertaken, subject to survey - details upon request. 16

Preventative/Precautionary Maintenance (Planned Maintenance Programmes) The frequency and extent of attention required will vary according to prevailing site and operational conditions however, the following guideline schedule is suggested to cover average duty and site conditions: Six-monthly Performance: check flow rate control and time delay are fit for purpose. Refer to COMMISSIONING for adjustment. Visual: check external component condition. Inspect for scale deposition, deformation, damage, corrosion, etc. Maintain or renew as necessary. Lubricate applicable components using only silicone-based lubricant. Lubricants Important: Use only silicone-based lubricants on this product. Do not use oilbased or other lubricant types as these may cause rapid deterioration of seals. Standard silicone-based lubricants may be used on all static seals, and threads, to assist refitting (e.g. Rocol MX22). Maintenance Procedures Maintenance must be carried out in accordance with these instructions, and must be conducted by designated, qualified and competent personnel. This tap series is designed for minimal maintenance under conditions of normal use. External surfaces may be wiped clean with a soft cloth, and if necessary, a mild washing-up type detergent or soap solution can be used. Caution: many household and industrial cleaning products contain mild abrasives and chemical concentrates, and should not be used on polished, chromed or plastic surfaces. Components are precision-made, so care must be taken while servicing to avoid damage. When ordering spare parts, please state product type, i.e. Rada-Presto TF2000, and identify part name and number (refer to the Spare Parts List). Protection against freezing: Turn off the incoming supply and push the tap several times to drain the system. Remove the cartridge (see Removal). 17
