18/20 29 June 2018 Kia ora koutou. We have had a great week celebrating Matariki. News from the Principal Sports Draws ABSENT? Please ring / text / email to advise if absent and WHY. 07 8778103 027 367 4142 office@ppp.school.nz The biggest highlight of the week's activities so far has been the hangi preparation and the sharing of it. The students really enjoyed the experience as they got to help throughout the process. Tuakana - teina relationships were fostered with older and younger students working together peeling all of the vegetables. Tikanga was shared as students got to ask questions about the hangi pit depth, correct stones to use and the manuka used to heat the rocks up. They also got to help dig the pit and stack the manuka up into the pile used to heat the stones, as well as watching the hangi being lifted and saying a karakia to bless the kai. At this point we would like to acknowledge Rob Young for all of his patience and willingness in sharing his passion and knowledge with our students - ngā mihi nui. We would also acknowledge Whaea Linda who has put in a lot of time coordinating the activity, and lastly, thanks to all of our whanau who donated time, money or food for the event; we really appreciate it.
