The Melinda Justice Cheerleading Scholarship Application Deadline: April 15, 2018 This scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of Melinda Mindi Karyn Justice by her mother, Ann Rodabaugh and her sister, Amy Phelps. On May 10, 2009, Melinda (Mindi) Justice was in a tragic car accident. Mindi was in her junior year of high school and would have been a senior in the class of 2010. She was the captain and member of the Riverdale varsity cheerleading teams for competition, football and basketball. Some of her cheerleading accomplishments included being named All-American as a UCA All-Star as a sophomore, member of Findlay Cheer Elite All-Star Team, Most Valuable Cheerleader three years, and Leadership Award three years, and she won the Jump Off and Tumble Off at local cheer competitions several times. Mindi enjoyed attending The Ohio State University Cheerleading Clinics throughout her junior year. Mindi was very versatile as she was on prom committee, a member of RSAADA (Riverdale Students Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse), volunteered her time as a high school helper for third graders, assistant coach for Riverdale midget cheerleaders, and was a member of the varsity volleyball and softball teams at Riverdale. Mindi was the class president during her freshmen, sophomore, and junior years. She was also selected to represent her class as the freshmen attendant on homecoming court. Mindi aspired to become a teacher and a college cheerleader for The Ohio State University. Mindi will always be remembered for her enthusiasm, outgoing personality, laughter, contagious energy, leadership, and school spirit. Her family has set up a scholarship to give to a deserving cheerleader in the area.
Mindi s talents and skills were certainly undeniable as she was one of the top cheerleaders in the area. She was a positive role model for her peers and cheerleaders of all ages, and her smile and energy were contagious. ~Michele Solether, Elmwood Varsity Cheer Coach Blessed to have been taught, encouraged, and inspired by Mindi! ~Hannah Morris, Riverdale Grade 5 Mindi was truly a treasure to be around.
