Tabloid / Station Cards Note to teachers All stations have to be modified to suit the age of the students participating. If the lesson focus is on FMS, then teacher will have to photocopy the follow pages out of the Fundamental Motor Skills Teachers Manual (https://www.eduweb.vic.gov.au/edulibrary/.../fmsteachermanual09.pdf) Pgs; 16,18,20,22,24,26,28,32,34,36. Chaos Tag When to Use ; Warm up Game Focus : Spatial Awareness, FMS (Run and Dodge) Equipment : Cones x 10 Game Description Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children Start the game by explaining the rules Rules o Every child for themselves o Students can get tagged or tag others o When tagged you will stand in a designated area o Winner is the last child standing Game Change where students can tag in players who have been tagged out Grade Level : Grade 3 to Year 12

Survivor Series Tag When to Use ; Warm up Game Focus : Spatial Awareness, FMS (Run and Dodge) Equipment : Cones x 10, Sashes x 10 Game Description Set up area to play. Depending on the amount of children, look at ½ basketball court for 20 children Select two teams The object is each team to try and tag out the opposition team When tagged the team members sit out until a member of their team who is still free tags them back in Game Elimination Chamber : Players are tagged out and stay out until you say Chamber open They then have 10 seconds to tag as many people back in until Chamber closed is spoken Grade Level : Grade 3 to Year 12

Chase The Indian When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Wet Weather and recall skills Equipment: None Students set up in groups of three. Number each team member Set up a circle. Group members stand next to each other When number called students will run around circle Anti clockwise Get back to their spot and stand still Change direction of running Change locomotion Use other cues instead of numbers ( eg : Colours, Cartoon Characters Grade level : Grade 1 Year 10

Crue Convoy (Rock, Paper Scissors Challenge Conga Line Aka: Crue Convoy (Large Group Rock Paper Scissors) When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather and recall skills Equipment: None Students pair up Proceed to play Rock, paper scissors Loser stands behind the person, placing their hands on their shoulders and start chanting their name and the winner moves around to find someone to play. This process continues through. Ends up with the final two people to determine a winner

North South East West When to play / Teaching Focus : Warm up, Ice Breaker, Cardiovascular Fitness Equipment: None (Note : must have distinct landmarks to designate directions to run) Full court basketball area or equivalent required Start students in centre or home base Designate the Directions North, South, East and West Have a visual mark for these cues (Eg; Wall colour etc) Safety for younger kids, have a line or a point where they have to stop to avoid contacting walls or objects. Change locomotion Last man standing, eliminate last person to get to designated area Grade level : Preps to Grade 4

Designate an end point or line the student must touch to be safe. (avoid collisions with walls and other objects in this game Line them up along a middle line of the playing area Students must face each other to start (can be in a standing sprint start position) Designate which side is the cowboys/cowgirls and Indians On teachers command the group called out must run to the end point before getting tagged. Shorten or lengthen playing field Change groups around Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 12

Wolfs Den When to Use within lesson : Skill application in Game Play, Warm up Focus : Warm up Equipment: 20 cones, 2 to 3 sashes Set up in full basketball court Have a middle area where the taggers will stand (eg : Middle netball third or equivalent) Set up students half on one baseline, half on the other Focus on the skill; basketball passing or soccer dribble and start with 3-4 balls Select two wolves for the middle and they will defend the area specified Students will attempt to get past the wolves to other side If caught they will swap roles with the wolves Change from pairs to threes Increase the amount of wolves Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 8

Jail Break When to play / Teaching Focus :, Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Sports Focus : None Equipment: 6 Cones if basketball centre ring isn t available, 4 sashes Select the area to play in (usually a full basketball court is appropriate) Designate a jail area ( Usually the centre circle of basketball court Select 3 to 4 police officers or taggers (each have a sash) The police officers must tag the robbers (the rest of the class) Placing a hand on the robbers shoulder they will place them in the designated Jail area Once there are 10 robbers in jail, they will form a circle and countdown from 10. After which they call out Jail Break and enter the game once again Increase the amount of Police Increase the amount of jails Change locomotion Grade level : Grade 3 to Year 12

SCRAM When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Equipment: None Pair up students Set up two circles one inner and outer. Pairs will start facing each other On command inner circle will walk anticlockwise and outer the opposite way Teacher Yells SCRAM The inner circle has 10 seconds to tag their partner in the outer circle Change the locomotion Increase or decrease the time Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 11

Chiefs, Horses and Warriors When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker, wet weather Equipment: None Pair up students Set up two circles one inner and outer. Pairs will start facing each other On command inner circle will walk anticlockwise and outer the opposite way Modification Game : Chiefs, Horses and Warriors Same set up as SCRAM Designate three things the students have to complete on command Chiefs ; one stands in a tee pee position and the other sits in front of them Horses ; one imitates a horse the other sits on their back (safety here the upmost importance) Warriors ; one stands up straight with arm out the other down on one knee to get knighted The last group to complete the task is out. Might have to split the circles into two separate ones if group is large Grade level : Grade 2 to Year 11.

The Cartoon Family Game When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Ice Breaker and End game Equipment: Cones (if no lines available) Set up a rectangle area of 10 x 12 m Sit students equally around the area Nominate 4 characters Homer, Lisa, Marge and Bart Same theory as chase the Indian Run in different direction Change locomotion Add in another character if excess students (Eg: Mr.Burns) Add in a tagging system. If student tags another student on the way around they get one point or eliminate that student Grade level : Prep to Grade 5

The Hunted When to Use within lesson : Warm up or skill based game Sport Focus : FMS (Running, Dodge, Throw and Catch), Teamwork Equipment: Sashes (3), 2-3 Ball (Rubber Ball or equivalent) Select 3 Students to be the Hunted Students will run in designated Area (good start Half a basketball court) Hunters start at the opposite end of the playing area Object is for the Hunters to throw students with an allotted time ( eg: 60 seconds) Hunters can throw the ball between each other but can t run with the ball Increase the amount of taggers Implement a skill base like Rugby pass Grade level : Grade 4 to Year 12

Speedway (aka Melbourne Cup) When to play / Teaching Focus : Warm up, Cardiovascular Fitness, Wet Weather and Recall skills Equipment: 6 Cones (different colours) Use full basketball court size dimensions. Placing cones Divide students into 6 even groups The students will be running on the outside of the basketball court Other team members will sit in a line on the inside of the court Same rules as the relay. Students will run around the required field, and tag the next person upon returing. First team al through wins Run in different direction Change locomotion Decrease the size of the playing area Add in a tagging system. If student tags another student on the way around they get one point or eliminate that student

Sports Sale of Century : Knockout When to play / Teaching Focus : End Game, Ice breaker, wet weather Sport Focus : Cricket, AFL, Soccer, Anatomy or any subject studied (great for a wet weather game) Equipment: None Designate an area and ask students to spread out. Inside a third or half netball court is ideal Teacher asks a question regards a particular subject First person with hand up answers If correct they take two normal steps in any direction of the playing field Students can be tagged out by another student only when that student gets a question right Students must be standing upright and extend the arm out to tag out. NO bending allowed Game Can designate 2 or 3 teams Add in ask a friend option

Fools Gold When to Use ; Icebreaker activity, decision Making Description Take an area the equivalent of Half a basketball Court Place a different coloured cone in each corner of the area The Instructor turns his back and the children have 10 seconds to choose a cone to stand on The teacher or instructor calls out the colour of the cone Those children on that cone are out of the game The game goes till last person is standing

Fly Swatter When to Use within lesson : Warm up, Wet Weather and recall skills Equipment: Tennis ball Teaching points ; reaction time, catching Students set up in groups of three. Number each team member Set up a circle. Group members stand next to each other Teacher goes in the middle of the circle Teacher throws the ball underarm to child Once the throw it back the teacher palms it to someone else (Simular to a hot potato) When they drop it they can do A lap of the circle Hold a push up for 10 seconds If its elimination, nominate one child and when they catch it the whole group is back in Grade level : Grade 1 Year 10

Battle Bowl Fitness Challenge When to play / Teaching Focus: End Game, Team Work, Moving into space Sport Focus ; Any team orientated sports Equipment: 8 cones (2 of each colour ), sashes are optional You start this with 4 teams You can play this either focusing on fitness (Push ups, Squats and other static holds) or a sport If a Fitness challenge Place each team in a corner (Simular to rob the tribe) One person from each team comes out and they square off It will be Team 1 vs Team 3 and Team 4 vs Team 2 Complete the fitness challenge. Make sure that correct technique is completed First one to complete the challenge stays and the next player comes out to go against the winner. When all have had a shot you make it Elimination and then down to the last two

Hoola Hoop Chain When to play / Teaching Focus : Icebreakers Equipment: 3 Hoola Hoops, 3 soft or rubber balls or 3 beanbags Start off with two or three groups and set them up in a line. (Min of 6 people) The groups must come up with a way to get the hoola hoop from one end to another without breaking the chain or letting the hoop touch the ground Turn into paper man chain, get all students to line up in a scarecrow position,only touching fingers The top person runs to the end, stands in a scarecrow and yells GO The rest of the students will not move iuntil they are at the front of the line. Object is for the first team to get to the other end of the basketball court first Grade level : Grade 3 and above

Callin your name When to play / Teaching Focus : Icebreakers Equipment:, 3 soft or rubber balls or 3 beanbags Description Set up people in a circle Start with one ball Person throws the ball to another person and states their name This process is repeated Callin your name Increase the number of balls being thrown Utilise the opposite hand when throwing Remembering the direction the ball comes from Grade level : Grade 3 and above
