SBA Sports Midwest Collegiate Championships All players participating in Midwest Collegiate Championship play shall have photocopies of their original birth certificates in the possession of their team manager. Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate in possession upon demand will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings and forfeiting all awards and tournament berths that would have been awarded at the tournament. NOTE: 1. Any player who before May 1 st, reaches the next highest age classification, shall not be eligible to play in the lower age group. Example, a 9 year old cannot turn 10 before May 1 st of the current year and be eligible to play in the 9-under age group. 2. Any player can play in a higher age classification, but cannot play in a lower age group. 3. All players must be fully uniformed, which includes the following: Pants, socks, cap, and team shirt with numbers that are non-duplicating and at least three inches in height. 4. Managers and coaches must wear a baseball cap with team insignia and will be properly dressed. (Coaches may wear coaching shorts). 5. While in the field, as a defensive player, team caps must be worn. 6. Protest of uniforms will not be allowed. It shall be the Tournament Director s responsibility regarding uniform legality. Violation of the uniform rule will result in the violator being allowed to conform or be removed from the game. 7. A full-use batting helmet which covers the top and back of the head and the side of the face must be worn by every player while in the on-deck circle, when at bat and while on the bases. 8. All bat boys/girls will wear full-use batting helmets when their team is at bat. 9. The catcher must wear protective gear: Mask, chest protector, shin guards, protective cup, catcher s helmet and throat guard. Ages 8u-12u: Catchers must wear helmet that fully covers their ears. 10.The NATIONS Baseball Handbook and the National Federation of High School Baseball Rules shall govern all playing rules not specifically covered above. 11. Metal spikes are prohibited for age divisions 12u and below.
Gate Fee Don Edwards Park collects a gate fee of $10 for a weekend pass or $5 per day per person. Coolers Don Edwards Park has a strict no smoking, no coolers, and no walk in food/drink rule. Thank you for your cooperation! TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES We will use the Pool Play format in the tournament. Each team will play 2 games in pool play. A single elimination championship tournament will be held for ALL teams. The exact format of the tournament will be set by the Tournament Director following NATIONS Baseball guidelines. Awards In each age division, there will be 1 st and 2 nd place individual trophies. Regarding Refunds Inclement weather policy: If a tournament in, whole or part, is cancelled, the following is the refund policy: -0 games played: Entry fee less $75 returned -1 game played: Entry fee less $125 returned -2 games or more played: No refund
Game Time Limits No inning can begin after 1 hour 50 minutes. If after 1 hour 50 minutes limit and the last official inning is complete and the game is tied during pool play the game will end in a tie. If elimination game is tied extra innings will be played until there is a winner. Championship game will have no time limit. All pool play games will flip a coin for home and away. In bracket play the higher seeded team will be home throughout the tournament. IF AN INNING IS STARTED BEFORE THE TIME LIMIT IT MUST BE COMPLETED TO THE LAST OUT EVEN IF THE HOME TEAM IS AHEAD UNLESS RUN RULE IS MET. THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE OF SEEDING AND TIEBREAKER PURPOSES DURING POOL PLAY GAMES. All games shall be 7 innings in duration. Pitching There are no pitching rules for this tournament! Please keep good pitch counts on your players and do not over throw kids. As a pitcher, it is a balk, while touching his plate, feints a throw to first or third base and fails to complete the throw. Tie Breakers Win-Loss Record Head to Head Fewest Runs Allowed Highest Total Run Differential Runs Scored With three or more teams tied, fewest runs allowed and then run differential will be used. The maximum run differential per game is +8 or -8. Winning team is responsible for texting the final score to the following number: (937) 305-7036. Teams can run a DH, EH, or both. DH/EH Teams can roster bat: They can roster bat all present uniformed players. The lineup must be declared before the start of the start of the game and used the entire game. If you choose to roster bat, then all players other than the nine defensive position players are extra hitters and can move freely in defensive positions. Check-in Please check in with the Tournament Director at the facility prior to your first game for any rules questions and turn in your roster form. Playing Rules Playing rules not specifically covered by the official NATIONS Baseball National By- Laws shall follow the Official Nations Federation of High School Baseball Rules.
Regarding Bat Restrictions Bats must be made of an approved material, and they must be smooth and round. In 14U bats will be restricted to a -5 ratio or heavier. (The weight of the bat in ounces as compared to its length in inches, must be no greater than 5). For age divisions 15U and above, bats must include a BBCOR stamp and are restricted to a -3 length to weight ratio. Schedules All schedules will be updated through Tourney Machine.
