WELCOME! Firstly, we would like to thank you for accepting the position of Manager for your team & becoming a vital member of the Albion Hurricanes FC (AHFC) The position of Manager is a very important role within the club as you enable AHFC a direct link with all players & parents regarding the general operations of the club. The Manager also allows the staff the time to perform their primary focus, i.e., coaching. AHFC prides itself on being politics free, where soccer decisions are made by the coaching staff, regardless of any parental or board influence. We trust that all AHFC Managers understand our unique situation & will strive to represent our club in a positive manner both on & off the field. MANAGER S DUTIES TEAM PAPERWORK Make sure all team paperwork is completed properly. This includes maintaining a team binder that contains: Signed team roster Player cards Medical release forms Birth certificates This manual All associations require a player card and medical release form. There are four steps to take with your player cards. 1. Have ID membership card (player pass) that either your league administrator issued or the AHFC registrar provides you. 2. Tape or glue a picture of the player on the card. 3. Laminate the card (you can buy sheets at any office supply store)- unlamented cards are not valid 4. Put all your cards on a ring in alphabetical order and keep in your binder o Medical release forms (or US Club Soccer) can be found on US Club website), YSA (www.hysa.us) sites. It is good practice to notarize the form if you plan to play in any tournaments outside of South Texas. o US Club Soccer Medical release found at US Club Soccer website. o AHFC Medical release form (Air Traveling teams only) can be found on www.albionhurricanes.org. o Once the form is completed, it must be notarized. AHFC Travel Code of Conduct for teams traveling outside of Houston can be found on www.albionhurricanes.org. *Keep a record of how the team performs in league play, as well as tournaments. When registering for tournaments in the future, you will be asked to enter the team s record for purposes of seeding your team. TEAM NAMING CONVENTION Please use the following AHFC team naming convention whenever referring to your team such as entering tournament, establishing a team website: o Club Name: Albion Hurricanes FC o Team Name: AHFC Year Gender Color* Campus* Example: AHFC 99G, AHFC 99G Blue C or AHFC 99G Blue W) o Association: ECNL, USC, or HYSA Consistent naming is key to club and team recognition. *The Campus is indicated by a W if it is a West team, C if it s a Campbell Road (Central) team, SW if it is a Southwest team and CF if it is a Cy-Fair team. TEAM ADMINISTRATIVE LIAISON The manager is the team administrative liaison between the parents and the staff. This will allow the Staff Coaches to focus on team and player development. All player specific questions please refer all inquiries to the team s Staff Coach. Please ask that parent contact the Staff Coach by phone or e-mail after regular practice hours and not game days. Ensure the parents all know how to access all pertinent websites and what information is available to them on these websites. 07/15/16 www.albionhurricanes.org 4

TEAM REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES It is strongly recommended to visit the associations websites (www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com, www.regioniii.usyouthsoccer.org, usctx.org, www.hysa.us, and www.pdfhouston.com) regularly for important information. UNIFORM KITS RESPONSIBILITIES New uniforms are ordered every 2 years; all uniforms are purchased through EUROSPORT. EUROSPORT provides on online ordering system where the player s information will be entered by the front office staff. Once the player information is entered into the EUROSPORT database, an automated email will be sent to the parent so they may order the uniforms. PARENT VOLUNTEERS AHFC heavily depends on its parent volunteers to ensure all team and club aspects are accounted for. Each team should have a parent volunteer for the club level. There are many club level volunteer positions available. Please direct your parents to the staff coach. GAME PROCEDURES Game Cards For the Fall: TBD for USC teams.. HYSA teams must print their game cards the Thursday or Friday prior to the weekend plays from Gotsoccer. For the Spring: the game card for National Cup, President s Cup and Director s Cup is printed from Gotsoccer. Player Changes o The staff coach is responsible for all player changes for the team. Playing Time o o HYSA has a rule that a player must play at least 50% of the game. This rule applies to all players that arrive to a game on time and attends practice or has a reasonable excuse for missing practices. HYSA provides some leeway for discipline problems, players who are late to games or players who miss practice on a regular basis. Higher level teams do not have minimum playing time rules SIDELINE MANAGEMENT The Staff will have a First Aid Kit provided by Memorial Hermann. It is advisable that managers also bring their own First Aid Kit to the games. It is also recommended that you have a working knowledge of basic first aid. For example, learn to recognize concussions, latent symptoms of concussion, heat stroke, etc. Game Checklist o Team binder o Game ball & Pump o First Aid Kit o Spare shin guards 07/15/16 www.albionhurricanes.org 5

MANAGER S CODE OF CONDUCT Managers and Assistant managers are expected to maintain a higher level of sportsmanship, professionalism and integrity both on and off the field. The manager s primary responsibility is for his/her players to have fun, to develop soccer players and to instill a passion for the game. The manager must maintain respect for the game as well as the referees. Managers are responsible for controlling their parents at all times during a match. Managers to remain seated on the supporters side to help with parents on the sideline. Managers lead and teach by example: players will be a reflection of the manager and the club. Managers are expected to: Have a basic knowledge of the game. Use positive reinforcement when dealing with players; never use foul language or abusive language. Never abuse a player mentally, verbally or physically. Have respect for the referee and exhibit good sportsmanship both off and on the field. Teach your players the rules of the game, fair play and proper game behavior. Remain seated (parents side of the fileld) during games and allow the Staff Coach to manage the team. ASSOCIATION GAME PROCEDURES RAINOUT PROCEDURES Teams will call the weather hotline at the respective fields and check the websites. HYSA teams should call the opponents hotline number. You will receive a list of club hotline numbers in your coach s package from HYSA ( Rules of Play ). It will come with your schedule. If you do not get a list, ask your registrar. HYSA teams will call the club weather hotline. Games are often played in the rain! If your game is cancelled, please call the opposing manager to inform him/her. PDF teams will call the club weather hotline. It is the responsibility of the manager to contact each player in the event of a cancellation. You can provide your parents with the website information so that they can check the status themselves. Encourage parents to sign up for the text messaging from the club. GAME RESCHEDULING Check the website after a rainout to see when you have been rescheduled. Always check the Friday night before a game to see if your schedule has changed. it can happen, and has happened, and will happen! HYSA o In the Fall, HYSA is responsible for rescheduling games. Do not attempt to reschedule a Fall game with another manager. Rescheduled dates will be posted at the HYSA website usually within a week. WEATHER INFORMATION Teams will call the weather hotline at the respective fields and check the websites. The AHFC weather information number is 713-939-0209 or you may check the website at www.albionhurricanes.org. HYSA In each coach s package, there is a list of rainout/hot line numbers for the season for use by the team manager/coach. o HYSA teams will make a courtesy call to the opposing coach to inform him/her if our fields are closed due to weather. 07/15/16 www.albionhurricanes.org 6

FIELD MAPS Maps to all Fields may be found on the various league websites. TEAM TOURNAMENTS A tournament schedule will be provided by AHFC at the beginning of the season. These tournaments have been identified as the best tournaments for your team. If you would like other tournaments to be considered or to eliminate some tournaments, please contact your primary staff coach. Be prepared to travel to some out of town tournaments. When a team travels out of town, the team (or teams) is responsible for the Tournament Entry Fees. The club covers Staff Coach expenses. AHFC will travel to some tournaments as a group to help reduce costs. Each player on a roster must pay his or her share of the tournament registration fee for all tournaments. This is required of all players rostered on the team, including those players that do not choose to attend the tournament. In town tournaments require all rostered players pay their portion of the team s registration fee, even if the player is not playing in the tournament. Guest players are not required to pay for the tournament registration fee. All traveling teams MUST have all players sign the TRAVEL ACKNOWLEDGMENT FORM and it is highly recommend that the TRAVEL MEDICAL RELEASE (kept by manager) is notarized and signed. These can be found on our web site www.albionhurricanes.org. It is highly recommended, at the beginning of the season, for the manager institute a Cash Call. By collecting money from each individual early on in the season, this will ensure that monies are collected up front from parents and players to ensure that the manager does not incur any personal financial loss to pay for tournaments and other unexpected expenses that may happen throughout the year. Tournaments are a great way to bring in new players onto the team and prepare for the upcoming season. Please work directly with your staff coach if your team needs tournament guest players. If an AHFC player wants to guest with another club in a tournament, it is solely the decision of the staff coach and Director of Coaching. AHFC MERCHANDISE Uniform kits and training shirts are purchased through EUROSPORT. The AFHC Travel Shirt, sweatshirt, polos, car decals and other AHFC merchandise is available through EUROSPORT as well. 07/15/16 www.albionhurricanes.org 7

CANES CAMPS AHFC usually holds several camps during the summer. Please speak to your staff coach to discuss which camps will be beneficial for your players/team. All camps will be offered at an additional cost. GLOSSARY OF ASSOCIATION NAMES Please familiarize yourself with the association that pertains to your team by reading the website for important dates, deadlines and other information s that might affect your team. All deadlines and rules must be followed! Is an initiative set up by Directors of Coaching of clubs in the Houston area who have a vision for their U9/10 players developing their skills and technical play in a safe, comfortable and stress free learning environment. Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Part of US Club Soccer - The goal of the ECNL is to change the landscape for elite female soccer players in the United States through innovative, player-centered programming and to enhance the overall experience by creating a better, more enjoyable, more accessible, and more successful player, coach, and club development model.. Divisions II, III Division II and III teams are members of the Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA). HYSA teams play ½ of their games at the AHFC Complex. Academy Teams (PDF) PDF teams are part of US Club Soccer and are for our U9 and U10 teams. United Soccer Clubs League (USC) USC teams are part of US Club Soccer at U11 and above. Adult Participation Pass (APP) This is a required background check, which will be completed on-line through the AHFC website through your application as Manager. All managers, assistant managers, and referees must get an APP. Once you receive your pass, you must always have it at games and practices in case it is requested. The APP must be worn at all STYSA sanctioned events.
