Lead Line Exhibitors must wear approved helmets and be led by someone 18 years or older. No refunds without a veterinary certificate or a doctor s note. GENERAL SHOW RULES ABUSE: If an equine s mouth, nose or barrel has open, raw or bleeding sores then the equine will be disqualified from competition. AGE of EQUINE: Each equine turns one year older on January 1 of the current year, no matter in which month the equine was born. AGE of RIDER: The age of a rider is determined by his/her age on January 1 of the current year. CLASS CALLS: Public address system is a show management courtesy. The Exhibitor is responsible for being at the ingate at the correct time. The in-gate will remain open for two minutes from the time that the first horse enters the arena. CONTROL: ANY EXHIBITOR WHO DOES NOT HAVE THEIR EQUINE UNDER CONTROL WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THAT CLASS AND DISMISSED FROM THE RING. DISMOUNTING: All Exhibitors MUST remain mounted until they have left the ring. They MUST leave the ring in a forward manner. FALL OF EQUINE OR RIDER: The fall of an equine and/or rider does not disqualify the entry unless due to the bad manners of the equine. GATE HOLDS: Gate holds must be requested 3 classes in advance, and must not exceed 2 minutes. GREEN EQUINE: Regardless of age, equine is in its FIRST or SECOND year of showing. HELMETS: ASTM/SEI approved helmets may be worn in ANY class without penalty. Exhibitors 17 and under MUST wear ASTM/SEI helmets ANY TIME they are in the arena. INTERMEDIATE GAIT: Intermediate gaits WILL be accepted and adjudicated with breed standards for equine entered. YOUTH EXHIBITOR: An individual who has not reached his/her 18th birthday as of January 1 of the current year. No one 17 years of age or younger may exhibit a stallion of ANY age. LAMENESS: Obvious lameness is cause for disqualification. The Judge s decision CANNOT be protested. NOVICE RIDER: Is a rider of ANY age that has NOT won THREE blue ribbons in any Open or Breed show as of January 1 of current year. OPEN: A class or event open to ALL equines and ALL exhibitors. DRESSAGE SUITABILITY: This is a dressage class and requires a SNAFFLE BIT. No twisted or wire bits allowed. It is the only English class in the show in which exhibitors may use a dropped, flash, crossed, figure 8 or crescent cavesson. Martingales prohibited. Additional information in Show Office. PLEASURE DRIVING REINSMANSHIP: A Pleasure Driving class in which the entries are judged primarily on the ability and skill of the driver. Drivers may be judged on the rail at any gait and/or may be asked to execute individual tests. To be judged: 75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture and overall impression of driver; 25% on the condition of harness and vehicle and neatness of attire. PLEASURE DRIVING TURNOUT: A Pleasure Driving class in which entries are judged primarily on the performance and quality of each turnout. To be judged: 70% on the condition, fit and appropriateness of harness and vehicle, neatness and appropriateness of attire and overall impression; 30% on performance, manners and way of going. PLEASURE DRIVING WORKING: A Pleasure Driving class in which entries are judged primarily on the suitability of the equine to provide a pleasant drive. May be asked to do appropriate tests such as a figure 8 or pivot. To be judged: 70% on performance, manners and way of going of the equine; 20% on the condition and fit of harness and vehicle; 10% on overall impression. JOG IN THE PARK: Judged 50% on presentation and 50% on way of going in a walk trot class. The horse is to give a brilliant performance with style, presence, finish, balance and cadence. This class is meant to be reminiscent of the time when horses were taken to the park to show off their turnout and flash. The attire may be period clothing of any kind and need not be authentic. Horse tack can be any style Western, English, Australian, etc. (1) Gait Requirements: Park horses are to enter the show ring at a trot going counter-clockwise (to the right) and are shown both ways of the ring at a walk and a trot. Park horses are not asked to back. Walk: A true cadenced, four-beat walk with horse collected. Trot: Animated, cadenced trot with impulsion and power. The trot is bold and brilliant with feather flying to show flash and dramatic style. Excessive speed shall be penalized.

CONCOURS D ELEGANCE: This ridden class is reminiscent of a time when success was measured by the flash of a horse s step and the elegance of the rider. It is inspired by a time when the place to be seen was in the park. Horse and rider should give the impression of being elaborately turned out in one s best dress attire with the purpose of making an impression. Tack and attire can be from any period or region, real or imagined and need not be authentic. Horses to be worked at a walk and jog or trot both directions (depending on attire). Will not be asked to back. To be judged: 30% on brilliance of movement and performance, 25% on horse s tack and appointments, 25% on Exhibitor s attire and appointments, 20% on expression and manners. SCHOOLING: No schooling of equines allowed in the competition arena while a class is being judged. SOUNDNESS: ALL entries MUST be serviceably sound and in good condition. THE SHOW MANAGEMENT AND THE JUDGE HAVE THE RIGHT TO EXCUSE ANY ENTRY THAT DOES NOT MEET THESE CONDITIONS. TIME OUT: An Exhibitor may request one time-out period during a class to make adjustments, to repair broken equipment or attempt to replace a shoe. The time-out period may not exceed 5 minutes.
