WELCOME WELCOME & INTRODUCTION The FA Charter Standard Club Award is a core component of the FA Football Development programme. By Achieving the award your club has shown a commitment to improving the playing experience for all by adhering to minimum standards for football through coaching, child protection and administration. It is vital that the ethos of The Charter Standard award is actively promoted at all times to all of your team managers, players and to the many additional people who attend games and ultimately represent your club. FA Charter Standard Clubs also have a responsibility to ensure that when incidents of poor practice occur they take the most appropriate action in line with their own codes of conduct. We have also worked hard to ensure that our benefits package reflects the value placed on the award at both national and regional level. The benefits package ranges from a reduction in coach education courses, membership to the East Yorkshire Football Coaches Association and access to in service training to support in obtaining grants via the Football Foundation. Perhaps though the greatest benefit is the knowledge that your club is helping to ensure that thousands of players across the county are able to enjoy our great game. The FA National Game strategy sets clear targets as to the number of youth teams playing under a Charter Standard banner as this clearly is the most appropriate place for young players to enjoy their football experience. The East Riding County FA recognise the amount of work and dedication it takes to run a successful FA Charter Standard Club. We hope everyone associated with your club feels proud to be a part of the FA Charter Standard family and as always if you would like any additional support please do not hesitate to contact us. RESPECT RESPECT is The FA s programme of activities to combat unacceptable behaviour in our game at every level, on the pitch and from the sidelines. This was the No 1 priority emerging from the biggest opinion survey carried out in late 2007. We hope RESPECT will ensure a safe positive environment for everyone to enjoy football. The FA RESPECT programme covers four main areas > STEP 1 RESPECT codes of Conduct > STEP 2 Designated spectator Areas > STEP 3 Captain taking Responsibility > STEP 4 Referee Managing the game Ultimately RESPECT aims to: Allow people to PLAY, OFFICIATE and WATCH FOOTBALL without being ABUSED, MOCKED, INSULTED, JEERED, PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED, UNNECESSARILY CRITICISED, PUSHED TOO HARD, DRIVEN TO TEARS or LAUGHED AT FOR TRYING. DOES EVERYONE CONNECTED TO YOUR CLUB ADHERE TO THE PRINCIPLES OF RESPECT AT ALL TIMES? For further info please visit www.eastridingfa.com/getintofootball or contact Steve Lazenby on 01482 221158

FA Skills Coach Programme The East Riding CFA are delighted to have been awarded a team of four FA TESCO Skills coaches to work with players aged 5-11. The coaches will deliver age appropriate coaching sessions in; > Primary School > FA Charter Standard Clubs > FA Skills Centres To create a step change in coaching the FA skills coach team aim to > Create a safe and positive learning environment in which children can learn new skills and have fun > Improve the football skills and techniques of young players > Create a coaching culture and profession The coaches deliver leading - edge technical football coaching, and have been trained to focus on meeting children s learning and individual needs, whatever their ability level. This means the skills programme is truly child centred, inclusive and most importantly fun. Young players need freedom of expression. To develop as creative players.they should be encouraged to try skills without fear of failure. Arsene Wenger In England most of the game is played with passion, love for football and instinct, but in football you also have to think Jose Mourinho FA Skills Coach Team ERCFA Sally Needham - Team Leader Suzanne Smith - Skills Coach Dan O Keefe - Skills Coach Sam Lee - Skills Coach If you would like more info on how to access the skills coach team, please contact Sally Needham - 07943 862283 www.thefa.com/skills

FA Charter Standard Renewals The FA Charter Standard Award is valid for a three year period, after this time clubs are requested to submit a renewal form to the CFA in order to maintain the award. In contrast to some initial applications the renewal document asks for expiry dates of Child Protection Certificates and Emergency Aid Certificates. This has proved to be the most difficult area for clubs with many coaches needing to be booked onto additional workshops. We would advise all clubs to be aware of when their CS status is due for renewal and to maintain an up to date list of coaching qualifications and expiry dates to ease the workload at renewal time. NB. CS is a condition of entry into the Hull Boys Sunday League from season 2009-2010, please ensure you are in a position to renew with all the associated information. For further details on the renewal process please contact Liz Shipp on 01482 221158 ERCFA Charter Standard support staff Adam Lowthorpe - County Development Manager > Facility Development > Funding Advice Graham Turner - Football Development Officer > CS Lead Officer/CS applications/awards > Benefits/ n service training/coaches Association/School Club Link Steve Lazenby - Referees Development Officer/Welfare Officer > RESPECT Lead Officer > Referee Courses/CRB checks/welfare Officer training Gemma Thomas - Women s & Girls Development Officer > Step Into sport/establishing new disability sections > Female Specific courses/establishing new girls sections Liz Shipp - Football Development Administrator > Coach Education Courses > CS Renewals East Riding County FA Roy West Centre Inglemire Lane Hull HU6 7TS Tel : 01482 221158
