Volunteering Volunteering: The Vision The BUCS Football Volunteering and Leadership programme aims to help young people to be the best leader, coach, referee or administrator they can be. To enhance the skills of those students who are interested not only in playing the game but putting something back in to the game. Football Volunteers Sport relies on 1.5 million volunteer officials, coaches, managers and administrators - competitive sport cannot exist without volunteers. They are the people that make sport happen and are generally forgotten about. Many students are not rewarded for volunteer work Pathways for students to engage as volunteers in sport, notably football, can be limited. Step into Sport is designed to tackle this breaking down any barriers and rewarding students for the work that they carry out. FA Step Into Sport The FA Step into Sport Programme (14-19) highlights the high number of young people that engage in football volunteering and encourages them to transfer their skills into everyday life It is the aim of BUCS Football Development to replicate this programme throughout the HE sector creating a number of student volunteers and leaders in universities that can drive football development in their own institutions and the local community. 2
