Introducing SEASON 17 & Half Year Competition Cheer Hot Shots Cheerleading Est. 1999 181 Iron Street Rome, GA 30165 (706) 235-SHOT hotshotscheer@aol.com
Our Story Back in 1999, a group of parents from the Rome/Floyd community approached Hot Shots with a very simple request: We want our kids to be able to compete for college scholarships like the kids from metro-atlanta, metro-birmingham, metro-chattanooga, but we can t drive all the way to Atlanta and spend $5000 a year for them to do it. Can Hot Shots give OUR kids the same all star chance that the big city kids around us are being given to compete for college scholarships? And some 17 years, 220 All Star Championships, 6 GHSA State Championships, and 5 Collegiate National Championships later, the SAME owners of Hot Shots Cheerleading, Grant and Rachel Magness, are continuing to say ABSOLUTELY, HECK YEAH, THIS IS HOW WE DO IT! There is no doubt that a LOT of things have changed since 1999. By the Grace of God, over the last 17 years, Rachel and Grant have gone on to LEAD Rome/Floyd cheer athletes to MANY more championship titles than they first started with, and at ALL levels, all stars and beyond! Rachel has even gone on to serve as the founding Head Coach of the collegiate cheer program at Shorter University, advancing her COLLEGE squads to NCA National Finals for 8 straight years, and winning 4 NCA collegiate national championships in her first 8 seasons! The quality of facility offered to the cheer athletes of the Rome/Floyd community has also drastically changed! When they first started in February of 1999, the Hot Shots Cheerleading facility was a converted auto-garage, less than 3500 square feet. By 2003, Rachel and Grant had chosen to make a 20 year, half million dollar commitment to the cheer athletes of Greater Rome by constructing the 11,000 square foot, custom-built cheer facility that is the current Hot Shots Cheerleading Center, including 3 separate training rooms, two full competitive all star floors, and ALL in-ground tumbling equipment! And today, in 2016, Hot Shots has grown to include two AWESOME locations, Rome and Fort Oglethorpe, training more than 150 All Star athletes across the Coosa and Chattanooga Valleys! So what HASN T changed? Well, in 1999, before he d won college national championships at both the junior college and Division 1 levels, before he d earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees with cheerleading scholarships, before he had become the Head Coach of the 2016 NCA Division 1 All Girl National Champions at Stephen F. Austin University in Nagadoches, Tx, Rome High School s Jason Williams had walked into his hometown cheer gym, Hot Shots Cheerleading, and said This is my dream. Can you help me reach it? And the same owners, the same coaches, the same mentors who were there in 1999 to help him reach it are the same owners who are helping TODAY s generation of Rome/Floyd cheer athletes reach THEIR dreams some 17 years later. Why should a student join the Hot Shots half season cheer program 1) to try out the all star program at Hot Shots in case they might want to commit to a full year team in the future, or 2) to GET MORE CHEER once their middle school or high school cheer season is complete! Our half year season doesn t start until AFTER school competition teams are DONE competing! Or 3) to BE READY for school cheer try outs next spring and KNOW they need to keep their skills UP! How is the half year all star competition cheer program DIFFERENT from our full year program? 1) less time commitment 2) less cost 3) less travel BUT YOU STILL learn more, compete more, and have more FUN!
