Dear Prospective DCX Cheerleader and Parents, Thank you for your interest in the DCX All-star cheerleading program. Competitive cheerleading has become one of the fastest growing sports in America. We are excited to provide this opportunity to young athletes in the Florence Community. 2011-2012 will mark our first competitive season. Please come join us for tryouts on Saturday May 7, 2011 from 9:00 11:00 a.m. at the School of Dance Arts, 1001 South Cashua Drive to select our winning All Star teams. In competitive cheerleading there are several different levels and you will be placed according to your skills and abilities. All squad members must be 5 years of age or older. We are looking forward to a very promising season based on the talented number of young dancers and cheerleaders we have been training along with a highly qualified staff of professionals, we will create champions. During the competitive season Dynamic Cheer Extreme will be attending a variety of competitions throughout the Southeastern region. If you feel as though you are not ready to take it to the next level right now but you want to continue to perfect your cheerleading skills, dance technique, motions, flexibility, jumps and tumbling you should register for these classes through the School of Dance Arts during our summer camps and classes beginning in August! GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL DCX ALL STAR TEAM MEMBERS DCX Membership All squad members are selected by the owner and coaches. Once you have been placed on a squad you are expected to follow the handbook guidelines set by the owner and coaches of the DCX All-Star Program. We provide a safe environment while instilling values, determination, dedication and commitment to each of our members through cheerleading, the ultimate sport. Registration All forms and registration fees must be paid before the first practice. There is a yearly registration fee of $20.00, which is non-refundable. Practices All practices are mandatory. If you are unable to attend a practice, you must give a two-week notice in writing/e-mail about not attending. DO NOT TEXT that you or your child/children are unable to make it to practice. Please call your coach! Tardiness is NOT acceptable. It is disrespectful to the coaches and your teammates. Please be considerate of each other and the time you share. You can only miss 6 times during the summer (June 1 August 21) and 5 times during the competitive season (September 1 April 18). Please call or e-mail your coach! Absences Excused Absences School function that results in a grade Death in the family Contagious sickness or fever, but must talk to their coach BEFORE practice School Cheerleading Unexcused Absences Dances, Birthday Parties, Concerts, etc. Any school functions not grade related Situations where the coach does not excuse the absence in advance If you miss more than 6 practices, there will be a meeting scheduled to evaluate your commitment to Dynamic Cheer Extreme All-Star Program which may result in removal from the team. You may be required to take private lessons to catch-up on what you missed if you have an acceptable reason for missing more than the 6 practices allotted. Please understand you are making a commitment to a team and other parents as well as yourself. Please be considerate of the schedule and communicate with the staff so we can provide our teams with the opportunity to cheer for their school team if the members so choose and enjoy other extra circular activities as well as DCX. This will be a priority for us and our families involved. You are required to attend every practice the week before a competition. If you miss the last practice before a competition, you will be subject to removal from the program. Last minute changes may be made and updated information for the competition may be handed out that day. Extra practices may and will be added closer to competition to make sure your child s team has the best possible chance of competing at their best. There is no cost for additional practices! 3
GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL DCX ALL STAR TEAM MEMBERS Tuition Tuition is due on the 1st of every month. School of Dance Arts sends out bills bimonthly. All payments received after the 10th of the month are subject to a $10 late fee. If you have a financial situation, please come speak with Niki Chavis to work out an arrangement for payment. Failure to do so will result in a conference about continuing the program. We, as coaches at DCX, are willing to help you if you put forth the effort to contact us. Since this is a team sport, losing someone will hurt the entire team as well as the cheerleader involved. Cost DCX All-Star cost is divided into an 11-month payment plan. This is an integral part of the program. It is up to you to decide what best fits your financial situation for your child. Any extra classes will be paid additional to your monthly payments such as private lessons, tumbling clinics, stunt clinics, etc. Any All-Star who attends with their school squad can use that class as the required tumbling class. Additional siblings will be given a $10 discount EACH month off of tuition. Tuition $110 x 11 Months $1,210.00 (4 hours All-Star Practices, 1 hour Tumbling Classes) Fund-raisers There will be fund-raisers sponsored throughout the year to offset the cost. The money YOU raise will go on your account for your child/children. All fund-raisers MUST be approved by owners or management. If you quit or are dismissed from DCX All- Stars before the end of 2011-2012 DCX All-Star season any fund-raiser/sponsorship money will be forfeited to DCX. Sponsorships This is an opportunity for you as a parent to make it affordable for your family to support each kid you may have in the DCX All-Star Program. This is how it works: You take the letter to the business of your choice. Let them know you are asking for money to sponsor your child/children in cheerleading at Dynamic Cheer Extreme/School of Dance Arts. The company or companies will get their name on a shirt that will be worn at practices, exhibitions, competitions, etc. locally, statewide and nationally. Let them know the money donated will go directly to your child s account to help pay for their cheer season. Parental Involvement It is important to support every child on each team in the DCX All-Star Program. Parents are expected to assist in preparing your child for competitions. Only cheerleaders and coaches are allowed in the gym. This is to encourage and promote the attention levels of the cheerleaders. Appearance Every member DCX All-Star Program is expected to maintain a professional appearance at all time. Competitions All competitions are mandatory. The locations for all competitions are determined by the DCX All-Star Coaches/Directors. Uniforms We will be measured and fitted for our uniforms once the teams are selected. Uniform and practice wear payment will be due in full by August 1, 2011. 4
