Tryout Information Pack Intro Limitless Allstars is a New Allstar Cheerleading program based in Teesside. We will be holding tryouts for teams that will compete in the 2018-19 season on June 30th 2018. Although Limitless is a new program the coaches are not new to the sport. Both co-owners have competed Internationally on Co-ed Level 6 teams including the Cheerleading Worlds in Florida. The coaches hold USASF (United States Allstar Federation) and BGU (Building from the Ground Up) Coaching Qualifications and have over a decade of experience each. You will not find a team of staff more experienced in coaching Allstar Cheerleading in the Teesside Area and we are excited for you to join us this season. We welcome athletes of all abilities. It is highly unlikely you will not be placed on a team. WHAT IS ALL STAR CHEERLEADING? Cheerleading did traditionally start on the sidelines of American footballs games and that aspect is still a part of the sport in the U.S., but Allstar Cheerleading is now a sport in its own right and is becoming more and more popular all over the world. All Star cheerleading is a competitive sport that involves boys and girls performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine (some novice divisions are shorter) composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, dance, and cheer segments. The routine is performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national, and worldwide competitions.
When we refer to tumbling, we mean gymnastic type skills like cartwheels and back handsprings. Stunting refers to a group of two or more individuals that elevate another cheerleader in the air. This also includes co-ed stunting that may only include one base and one flyer. Pyramids are a form of stunting but are done as a large group and are interconnected. Dance is a portion of a routine that consists of choreographed high energy dance moves. * Allstar Cheerleading Age Grid: The USASF age grid for divisions can be found at the end of this information pack. Most UK competitions adhere to this age grid. Still confused? Youtube is a great! Search for allstar cheerleading and it will all start to make sense! Team Placement Allstar Cheerleading is made up of 6 Levels including co-ed(males & females) and all girls divisions. Athlete placement will be based on forming teams that can be the most successful in the 2018-19 season. We will not know what level teams we will be forming until after tryouts have concluded. The level of the team is also subject to change from one competition to the next depending on the skill level of the athletes. Tryouts will take place June 30th from 1:15-4:45. Tryouts times will be divided by age:
Athletes will be asked to perform jumps, tumbling and stunts during their tryout. No experience is required and coaches will be there to help guide the athletes in what is expected. Tryouts can be seen as a low stress training session where athletes are asked to perform skills they are already confident in and show their ability to listen and take direction well. Stunting: You may be asked to try any of the following positions: Back spot, Base, Front Spot, or Flyer. Stunt groups will be arranged by the coaches and groups will be asked to try different skills. STUNTS ARE A GROUP EFFORT. No individual should worry too much if their stunt does not work well during the tryout. We are looking for your willingness to listen, take direction well, and put forth your best effort. If you want to try out as a flyer the coaches may fly you in a stunt that they base so you can show your skills as a flyer. This does not guarantee you will be a flyer on the team for the season. Athletes should note they may start the year in one position and be asked to try other positions throughout the season. This is a team sport and the most successful individual in each position will be chosen based on the best decision for the entire team. Placement/Practice Times/Attendance Each team will have 2 practices a week (Tiny teams 1/week) Practice times will be announced after teams have been formed. Cheerleading is a team sport that involves multiple athletes in each stunt and throughout the choreography. Your attendance is essential and determines the successfulness of the entire team not just the individual. A commitment to the team is a commitment for the full season. Absences may be excused or unexcused. Three or more unexcused absences within 2 months may result in your child losing their place on the team. A loss of money from competition fees, uniform cost, and monthly fees may result. The Red Zone : Anytime leading up to 2 weeks before a competition and 3 weeks before a Worlds Qualifying competition where an unexcused absence takes place may result in the athletes immediate removal from the team.
Parents and athletes will be asked to sign a parent/athlete agreement in accordance with the above and further attendance, financial, and moral/behaviour code policies when team placements are made. Parents will receive a phone call by Limitless Allstars staff to let them know which team their child is placed on. It is highly unlikely that an athlete will not be placed on a team. Staff will build teams by level and the cheerleading age grid depending on the skill level of the athletes trying out to form the most successful teams for the season. A mandatory parent meeting will be held July 8th at 7:15pm after the team placements are decided. Tuition While competitive cheerleading is not the least expensive sport in the market it demands a high level of knowledge and professional equipment in order to be run safely and correctly. While Limitless may be slightly more expensive than some other programs around we offer a monthly tuition price that covers most of the costs for the year. After factoring in the low coach to athlete ratio we keep, the level of experience of the coaches, the fantastic equipment we train on, and the extra fundraisers, & added costs not included in tuition at other gyms we believe we offer the best value per pound. Costs are broken down into three different categories: A recreational tumble class for those not ready to commit to a team and go to competitions yet, but want to keep learning new skills. The Tiny/Tiny Novice Team divisions are for athletes ages 3-6 years old. (Please note the age grid crosses over ages & the Mini & Youth
divisions begins at age 5 therefore 5 & 6 year olds are eligible for Tiny/Mini/Youth divisions and the decision on placement for these age athletes will be made by the coaches with input on commitment level from the parent.) If a Tiny athlete would like more practice time they may sign up for the recreational class as well for an extra 10. All other Allstar Teams will have 3 hours of practice a week divided into a 1 hour and 2 two hour practice. Costs: Tryout Fee: 10. This is payable by cash or card on the day of tryout. Please note if your athlete already has a monthly subscription for Saturday classes this fee will be waived. This does not include weekday classes. Team Costs Hours/Week Monthly Cost Tiny Division Team 1 35 Mini, youth, Junior, 3 55 Senior and Open Teams Recreational Tumble Class 1 25 / 10 for Team Athletes What s Included: Monthly Tuition: includes 3 hours of practice in the gym plus the cost of competitions. Choreography: Choreography will be done by Cheer Athletics World Champions Allyson Lewis & Zach Coleman. A choreography schedule will be made with 1-2 choreography days for each team. They will take place during the following dates: AUGUST 29 th SEPTEMBER 2 nd. Please keep these dates free. The choreography days will be mandatory. Please see the choreography section to read more about Allyson Lewis & Zach Coleman.
Competitions : * Please note it is not our intention to change from this schedule, but it does remain subject to change. If we run a World s qualifying team additional competitions may be arranged for a bid to Worlds. The dates for Future Cheer Circus Spectacular & BCA Super Classic have not yet been released, but you will be notified when they are. Additional Costs Practice wear : is required for all 3 hour practice teams. 2 practice wear outfits will be available for purchase for a total of 100 including a bow. They will include the screen printed Limitless Allstars crop top & shorts/leggings and the sublimated crop top and Nike Pro style shorts. Practice wear will be worn on a rota so that all members look uniform. This helps the athletes and the coaches to build a routine that is cleaner & sharper. It also builds bonds and a team spirit between the athletes. (Some of these items are already available for purchase so the future costs will be less if you have already purchased practice wear from Limitless Allstars.) Cheerleading shoes will be available for rent for 2/session or can be purchased privately. Email scott@limitlessallstars.com for the purchase of No Limits cheer shoes. Uniforms : Uniforms will be available for purchase or for rent. Uniforms can be rented for 20/competition or purchased for 120. Travel Costs : Our aim will be to keep travel & accommodation costs as low as possible by helping to find group bookings for hotels and organizing car sharing to competitions. These cost will be a personal responsibility, but Limitless will aim to get out information of available travel information before competitions as early as possible. Arriving to competitions and booking accommodations is ultimately the individual athlete/parent s responsibility. Choreography: Fantastic choreography is a major part of building a successful team. Pulling together all of the skills in a visually pleasing and creative way is a
professional job and we are thrilled to announce that we will be bringing over two incredible Coaches and Choreographers from Dallas, Texas. It is essential that you make the choreography days.
