Multicultural Individual Player Grant for National Competition & Training PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The objectives of the Multicultural Individual Player Grant for National Competition & Training are to: Provide funding to competitive junior players who have achieved national and/or international rankings. Assure the careful nurturing of young minority players who may be candidates for USTA Elite Player Development Programs. Funding will be based on the success level of the player in the previous year (e.g., end of year USTA ranking list/performance). Must be training and competing in tournaments year round. Have a history of strong national tournament results. GRANT ELIGIBILITY: Application must include 2008 Federal Income Tax Return of parents as verification of household income. Sensitive information, such as social security number, may be whited-out for your security. For consideration the player must be ranked in the Top 100 nationally (i.e., USTA) in his/her age category, OR Player must have an ITF Ranking, or national ranking or Player must have an ATP / WTA Ranking. Players that anticipate receiving grants/service assistance in the amount of $10,000 or greater in 2009 from the USTA, USTA Tennis & Education Foundation, USTA Section and/or USTA District are not eligible for funding via this grant. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Players who received funding in 2009 must include the player accountability form when applying for funds this year. A proposed 2010 tournament and training schedule must be submitted along with the grant application. A recent photograph of the applicant must be attached to the grant application. EVALUATION PROCESS: Input from USTA Player Development and Section High Performance staff will be sought. Grants are for one year and range between $1,500 and $10,000.
