Parent / Student Athletic & Activity Orientation Night Wednesday, April 4, 2018 East Campus 7:00 9:00 PM Welcome to. You and your student are invited to the annual Parent / Student Athletic & Activity Night. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 7 to 9 PM at East Campus. After a brief introduction in the gymnasium, students and parents will then attend Meet the Coach/Sponsor breakout sessions throughout the building. Lake Park Boosters and sports and activities will display their offerings at the Activities Fair in the cafeteria. You and your student are welcome to attend the breakout sessions and to browse the booths at the fair. Most, but not all, sports and activities will be represented. Both the Athletic Director and Activities Director will be on hand to answer any questions. We feel that incoming students may be overwhelmed by the choices they try to make at the beginning of the school year. This program will give incoming freshmen and their parents an opportunity to learn about Lake Park s athletics and activities programs. They will have their questions answered by coaches, sponsors and students currently in the programs. Students and parents will then have time to consider their choices prior to the beginning of the fall term. They perform at halftime of all football and basketball games. Practices and summer camps begin in the summer months and all squads participate in competitions from November through March. Practices are scheduled during the week in the evenings. Special practices may be called after school and/or on weekends. Cheer tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year will be held 4/9/18-4/11/18 in the West Campus Student Cafeteria and Main Gym from 4:00pm-7:00pm and 4/12/18 from 6:00pm- 9:00pm. Lancettes tryouts will be 4/23/18-4/26/18 in the West Campus Student Cafeteria from 4:00pm-5:30pm. Please follow them on twitter at @LPLancettes or @LPLancerCheer for updates and information. IMPORTANT INFORMATION All athletes must have a current physical on file at Lake Park to participate on an athletic team. The required freshman physical will meet the requirements for their freshman year and do not need a separate sports physical. The physical may not be more than 13 months old; therefore, we suggest you schedule your student s physical for no sooner than May 15, 2018. This will allow your student to participate for the entire upcoming school year. A new physical will be required each year they participate on an athletic team. Athletes must complete the online registration at https://register.lphs.org/athleticsregistration. You are required to enter your student s webname login name and nine (9) digit webpin number to access the online registration. You will receive a packet for school registration in June or July and the information will be included with that packet. Please keep this information as this same information is used to register for all athletics every season for all four years. The registration Login Name and 9 digit Pin will be mailed to the home with the June/July school registration packet. This same information is used to pay fees and add cafeteria money to the student s ID card. Upon successful registration, your final screen will look like either of these 2 screens below. This screen shot must be printed and given to the coach on the first day of tryouts or practice in order to participate! After registration is completed, these fields will auto populate with the athlete s name and the registered sport. This version does NOT need to be signed by the athletic office. FAQ s 1. How do I register my child for summer camp? Registration with credit card payment is done on-line only at https://register.lphs.org/summercamps 2. I prefer to go to the school, complete a registration form and pay by cash or check, can I do that? No, participants must be registered online with credit card payment in full before camp. There is no onsite registration at the school. 3. Can I send my child with a check for the coach the first day of camp? The registration screen is asking for an email and password, is this sent from LPHS? No, both the email and the password are user created. These are not sent from the school. 5. I forgot my password, can I call and get this information? No, click on the Forgot Password? link and it will send the password to the email address it s associated with. 7. What are the dates for summer camp? Dates vary by camp and are held Monday Thursday unless otherwise noted within each camp. There are no camps the week of July 4 th.
FAQ s continued 8. Who are the coaches running the camps? All camps are run by the LPHS coaching staff and headed by the program s varsity coach. 9. Does my child need a current physical for summer camp? No, summer camp participants do not need a physical. 10. Why are there two prices listed for each camp? All registration received on or after June 1 st will incur an additional non-refundable late registration fee of $10.00. 11. What is the refund policy? There are no full refunds so please double check your travel plans or your child(s) s interest before you click Finish and Pay to complete the registration. Each camp has its own maximum refund amount and last day for partial refund, so please read through the details of each camp fully. 12. Weather looks bad for outdoor camp, how do I know if it will be cancelled? As soon as the coach has notified the school, cancellation notice will be posted on the front page of the athletic website at il.8to18.com/lphs. Last minute camp cancellations will only be rescheduled at the coach s discretion. Please inquire with the camp coach. 13. My niece/nephew/friend is not in district to attend LPHS, can they still register for summer camp? Lake Park Lancer Summer Basketball Camp is dedicated to providing a competitive environment that challenges each player to not only become a well-rounded player, but to better prepare for the upcoming high school basketball season. Each level will work on concepts being taught in the Lake Park girls' basketball program, as well as individual skill development such as ball handling, weak-hand development, scoring, outside shooting, free throw shooting, rebounding, passing & catching, communicating, guard skills, post skills, one-the-ball defensive, help-side defense, closeouts and the mental aspects of the game. Freshman, Sophomore & Varsity levels will play 10 games in the Montini Summer League at an additional cost. A schedule will be provided once made. Each player will receive a camp t-shirt. Our staff will group girls based by experience level. Those just learning will start off with pitching bascis, while those who have experience will work on more advanced pitching techniques. Our staff will focus on proper form, increasing speed, location, spin and fielding the position. Catchers will spend the first hour working on catching fundamentals (including blocking, throwing, pop time, fielding bunts, holding runners, framing and pitch calling). Many ex-players and current college players will also join the coaching staff for the summer. The camp is a great blend of high level competition and fun activities.
