Wish we could put a twinleading-shoe brake on time, but then we d have to wait longer for anticipated events like race and ride days and of course our State Titles. Speaking of, Chris Peake, who made the podium at last weekend s Old Farts on a bike loaned by John Snoad, has confirmed he will be our Steward at this year s State Titles. Chris has been excellent in this role, so we are really pleased to have him again, and we shall also enjoy the dulcet tones of Dougie Duke s over the Tannoy. Once again we went into battle with our Atujara rivals at another round of the Les Diener series, our team comprising Robin Williams, Phil Baughan, Neil Watson and yours truly; the opposition being Chris Lang, PRESIDENT S REPORT 2 Ken Ball, Richard Metcalf and Chris Pash. Too early for results yet, but I m expecting a close contest, Messrs. Metcalf and Pash occupying their usual positions at the pointy end, though each of our guys should have scored fairly well. Watch this space! We have been given a heap of English motorcycle magazines from the late 1940s and early 1950s, some in binders, by a lovely bloke called Geoff Mudge. Geoff was an excellent speedway rider, who rode at Rowley Park, and in England where he rode for the Poole Pirates for 11 seasons, and is having a clearout as he intends downsizing homewise. I hope our members will find something of interest in them. Trevor Henderson, President

ISLE OF MAN TT 2017: Davo swaps No 15 for No 1 Register member David Davo Johnson starts the Isle of Man Superbike TT and Senior races first on the road and wearing the No 1 plate. Nineteen of the first 20 seeded riders have lapped at over 128mph and between them have a remarkable total of 71 TT victories and 195 podiums. Davo, who became the fastest-ever Aussie around the course last year, will be riding the new Norton SG6. It uses the frame of the all-new Norton V4 SS road bike unveiled last November. However, SG6 will once again feature the race-proven V4 Aprilia CRT, with Norton Boss Stuart Garner stating that With first deliveries of V4 SS bikes not expected until the second half of 2017 it s too early in the engine s development to race the new Norton V4 engine given the dangers and endurance involved in competitive racing at the TT. You can catch all the action live on the internet on the internet radio station www.manxradio.com Motorsport Festival, Dec 9-10 Registrations required with emphasis on Periord 5-6 Motorsport Festival Victoria Park will this year be on the weekend of 9 th & 10 th December. The organisers have asked that we again be involved but they want some newer race bikes. This year will be Period 5&6 s turn to have a play. I urgently need to get some registration of interest happening so that we can confidently let the organiser know that we have 15 or 20 bikes to put on track. I think Cookies new XR69 would be ace as would Kym Davey s lovely Hondas and the TZ s in the club to name a few. Please help me help the club and let me know if you want to be part of it. We really do not want to lose our opportunity to be part of this fantastic weekend. Danny Ahern Vice President, Comp Secretary 3

FROM THE COMP SEC: Demo day a success The club s participation at the Historic Sporting Car Club Anzac event was a roaring success and all those participating enjoyed most of the weekend, all good until the rain came in Sunday arvo. We had a good spot, we had real good track time and even with a pace car could open up the throttle a bit and have a play. Sunday morning was a laugh as the pace care was not as quick around the back sweeper so I was getting up as close as I dare and I might add on a proper race line, I saw the driver checking out his mirrors, which was a bad place to do so as he so nearly ran wide and off the track, that gave me a giggle. We swapped positions a bit on track and all the feedback from the club was that it was a great demo. My feedback to the club was that a Demo at the end of the race day Sunday is not really a Demo! They are keen to change that as they are keen to have us back. Talk is they may have two events one at Mallala and one at The Bend if they can get the support. If the Bend is a goer we may even consider racing or if the membership wants to stick to a spirited display. Last weekend I was one of what seemed many who did not participate at Mac Park s ol farts meeting. My reasoning was I d had enough for the year and have far too much on my plate between work, bikes and family. I did however keep a good eye on computime. The biggest thing that stood out was the small fields. That is a pity as when this all started 16 years ago fields were good and historic bikes were the mainstay of the event. Gradually older guys on newer bikes saw the opportunity to compete and as that has become bigger in recent years and there has been more moderns. I know a good deal of my friends are not that keen going out on their historic bikes in amongst the newer gear. Funnily enough as much as I believe this to be the case, I reckon the newer bike numbers were down a bit, but of course there is modern racing at Mallala next weekend, so that and the Historic 2+4 at Winton in two weeks all adds to the competition, ah yeah and it was Mother s Day too! Anyway those that went would have had a ball in fine conditions so good on you lot! Danny Ahern #327 Comp secretary 8
