Take all ribbons off so we can retag them with the green state fair tag. If you would like to bring your own project up to the state fair please let Sarah know so you can come get your tag early. Exhibits can be brought to the 4-H building Sunday Aug. 6 from 12pm-5pm and Monday Aug. 7 from 8am-12pm. If you bring up your project, you will need to pick up your project. Items will return here to the extension office by August 21. A special day for Clover Kids (youth ages 5-7) will be featured in the 4-H building in Sedalia on August 13 from 9:00am-3:00pm. All 4-H Clover Kids and their families are invited to attend this event. August 1, 2017 Awards Project Record-This is form Y620 that can be found at the Missouri 4-H site. Those that complete a project record will receive a silver disc for their white board for the project completed. These are due September 5 to the extension office. Missouri Recognition Forms-These are optional forms also found on the Missouri 4-H site. Y2000 (ages 8-10), Y2100 (ages 11-13), Y2200 (ages 14 +). ***These forms are judged county wide and regionally. These are extensive but can be saved and added to each year. These are due September 5 to the extension office. Secretary Book-This is optional for each club to turn in. These will be judged and are highly encouraged to turn in. These are due September 12 to the extension office. Treasurer Book-This is mandatory to turn in for each club. These will be judged so fill out thoroughly. These books are due September 12 to the extension office. Scrapbook This is optional for each club to turn in. These will be judged and are highly encouraged to turn in. If you need 4-H scrapbook paper see Sarah at the extension office. These are due September 12 to the extension office. Leader Award Nomination-Attached at the end of the newsletter is a form for anyone to fill out to nominate a leader of the year. These are due September 12 to the extension office. *2016-2017 Project leaders-if you have not turned in your project leader report to your club leader or extension office please do so as soon as possible. This helps determine who has completed their projects. ***f you are a senior in high school 4-H Foundation Scholarship Applications will be available in January. If you complete the Missouri Recognition Form Y2200 you have completed most of the narrative form for the scholarship application. August 1, 2017 Callaway Youth Expo Fair Checks Livestock sale checks will be ready August 7. Fair checks need to be picked up by the child that the check is written out to or a note signed by the child if a parent will be picking up the check. Livestock Clinic in Callaway County If you are interested in having a judging clinic or show stock clinic let Anita or Sarah know at the extension office. This would be a time to ask questions and pick up on how the animals would be judged a the fair. Clipping demonstrations could also be done. Any ideas or input is appreciated. (examples: posters, cake decorating, foods, photography) State Fair Robotics-The State 4-H Robotics Contest will be on Sun. Aug. 13 at the Show Me Robots exhibit in Lowell Mohler Hall. Games will be announced by April 15. This is an open competition for 4-H Robotics members. Please call the extension office 642-0755 for more details. Photography-Sleeves and matte board are on order and can be picked up next week at the Callaway Extension Office. Matte board and sleeves will both be $1 a piece. Demonstrations-If you have been selected to do a demonstration at the state fair please call or e-mail the extension office for parking information and more instructions. Home Arts Exhibits-Please have home arts exhibits back to the extension office by July 31-August 4 (by noon) for tags. Take all blue ribbon tags and entry tags off. They will be retagged here at the office. Sign in your project up front at Rhonda s desk. Sign out your projects when they return the week after the fair is done (Aug. 21-25). If your project is bigger than 4 x 4 it will need to be delivered to the state fair on your own. Exhibits will be accepted at the 4-H building on Sun. Aug. 6 from 12pm-5pm and Mon. Aug. 7 from 8am-12pm. Please let Sarah know if you will be bringing a project up on your own. It will still need to be tagged. Any food project will need to be remade before the state fair. Large Home Arts Exhibits-Items too large for display in the 4-H building will need approval by Aug. 6th from the state 4-H office. Livestock-Exhibitors must bring their own feed and bedding. The fair will not provide a feed and bedding contractor on grounds to service exhibitors. Please register through 4-H online from July 15-Aug. 15. State Shoot-State shoot prices have gone up. $26.00 for registration if you shoot in both the August weekend and the September weekend. Plus $5.00 per event you shoot in. If you only shoot one weekend either August or September the cost will be $13.00 plus the $5.000 per event fee plus the range fee for the shotgun event. Opportunities Outside 4-H The American Kennel Club is reaching out to 4-H organizations to provide additional information about new and exciting opportunities for juniors to participate in AKC events. Science on Wheels will be held at the Callaway County Extension office on September 21 at 6pm. See attached flyer for more details. ASKARBEN Stock Show-The entry process opens on Monday, July 24. Entries will be accepted through August 31 at the published entry fee rates. Entries past this will continue to increase in price until September 14 when registration stops.
