Sponsorship Explained The sport of eventing can be thought of as a triathlon on horseback. The three phases are dressage, show jumping and cross country. The dressage, is rather like dancing or a gymnastics floor routine. The horse and rider have to follow a set pattern of movements according to the level of the class they are competing in, in front of the judges and are marked according to style, harmony, and technical ability. This is calculated as a percentage good marks, and translated into a penalty score. The lowest is therefore the best. The second phase of a one day event is the show jumping. A round of between 9 and 14 jumps, each of which can be knocked down. A clear round, under the pre-set optimum time incurs no penalties and hence the score remains low. For each fence knocked or if the horse refuses to jump, 4 penalties are added to the dressage score hence taking the overall penalty score higher and knocking the competitor down the leader board. The final phase is the cross country. Up to 25 natural and man made obstacles include logs, ditches, banks, water fences and run over 2-5km again within a pre-set optimum time. Mistakes at the obstacles incur 20 penalties each, and for exceeding the optimum time for completion competitors incur 0.4 penalties per second. Eventing is a hugely exciting modern sport whose origins run deep into Army history. The modern version is a hugely popular country pursuit and is one of the only sports left in the world where men and women of any age compete against each other on equal terms. It provides and incredible opportunity to explore and enjoy the English countryside, meet an enormous cross section of the public, and enjoy a hugely exciting and thrilling sport. We have over 21,000m2 of all weather surfaces meaning the limitations of inclement conditions are a thing of the past. Here at Aston competition can continue in any weather. We are currently building a state of the art pavilion for sponsors, owners and club house members to offer a de-luxe viewing area between the arenas. Live scoring will be on the screens, Wi-Fi to allow access to live streaming from out on the course and all from the comfort of the warm, dry pavilion. A wide variety of sponsorship options are available and can be tailored to best suit your needs. From putting your name to a single fence to overall title sponsorship of one of our affiliated or unaffiliated horse trials we can ensure your marketing goals are met through sponsorship of our horse trials. We welcome up to 350 competitors per day each of whom normally bring at least 2-3 support crew each. Aston le Walls use around 400 volunteers and officials per day of horse trials, again increasing your potential audience. Title Sponsor March BE Horse Trials Dates: Early March Competition levels: BE80, BE90, BE100 The Great British weather always takes its toll on the beginning of the season with many events being cancelled year on year, however with over twenty-one thousand square metres of arena surfacing used for the show jumping and dressage phases, roads around the cross country course and extensive hardcore parking, cancellation is a very rare occurrence as Aston Le Walls, and as such riders travel from far and wide to compete at the venue with a large ballot being apparent every year due to over-subscription of competitors. This first event has the capacity to run just over 500 competitors in the two days it runs, with the schedules being circulated to approximately 16,000 British Eventing members in the bi-monthly omnibus sent out to all members. Title Sponsor May BE Horse Trials Dates: Middle of May Competition levels: BE100, Novice, Intermediate With Badminton International Horse trials just finished and Houghton International just around the corner, riders flock to Aston Le Walls to run their intermediate, novice and BE100 horses in this four-day fixture including Open Novice U18, Open Intermediate U21, and Pony Trial Sections. This fixture is another Aston Le Walls fixture with regular high balloting, with a capacity of 1200 entries able to run over the four days, this is definitely one of the busiest horse trials in the BE calendar. Title Sponsor July BE Horse Trials Dates: Middle of July Competition levels: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced The middle of the season has arrived and it s the time for the most prestigious of the Aston-le-Walls horse trials. The July horse trials has often seen horses not just from around the UK but around the world head to the Northamptonshire site for the Advanced, Intermediate and Novice competition, especially in the lead up to events such as the Olympics where many competitors visit Aston to take advantage of the all-weather surfaces and good cross country ground in a time of year that sees rock hard conditions on much of the land used for events. Without doubt Aston runs the most advanced horses around any one single event in the country with up to 6/7 sections (250+ horses) of advanced competition being seen.
