tournament information The Clinic Marijuana Center is excited to announce the Ninth Annual Clinic Charity Classic Golf Tournament benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, CO-WY Chapter and the Rocky Mountain MS Center. Since 2009, The Clinic has raised approximately $500,000 to fund research and help those living with such a debilitating disease in need. This year's tournament will be held on Friday August 10, 2018 at Arrowhead Golf Club for the third year in a row. 8:00am: Transportation provided from Denver to Arrowhead Golf Course 9:00am: Golfer Check-In begins 10:00am: Shotgun Start, Groups tee off simultaneously from different holes 12:00pm: Lunch is distributed throughout course 5:00pm: Dinner & Awards Ceremony - Immediately following end of round 6:00pm: First bus leaves for Denver Colorado Scramble: This is similar to the scramble format, except that two drives by each player must be used during the round. A scramble means that all four team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best. The other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the chosen tee shot. This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green. Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score. If the ball you choose to play is in the rough, a hazard (sand, water, etc.), or out of bounds, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length away. Men tee off from the blue tees and women from the red tees. Mulligans: Every foursome will be allowed unlimited mulligans that will cost $10.00 each. All funds MUST be collected as the team registers, before the tournament begins and must be used on the course. Unused mulligans may not be turned in for stroke deductions at the end of the round. Golfer Registration: Golfer registration for this year s Clinic Charity Classic will be $500 per player, or $2,000 per foursome. The registration fee includes transportation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, 18 holes of golf with cart, open practice range and a golfer gift. Several complimentary beverage carts and refreshment stations will be available throughout the course to ensure all participants are hydrated. cannabis & multiple sclerosis Between 1840 and 1900, European and American medical journals published more than 100 articles on the therapeutic use of the drug known then as Cannabis Indica (or Indian hemp) and now simply as cannabis. Today, new studies are being published in peer-reviewed journals that demonstrate cannabis has medical value in treating patients with serious illnesses such as AIDS, glaucoma, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and chronic pain. An estimated 400,000 people in the United States are living with multiple sclerosis (MS), a painful, debilitating, and sometimes fatal disorder of the central nervous system. MS is the most common debilitating neurological disease of young people, often appearing between the ages of 20 and 40, and affecting more women than men. Symptoms vary considerably from person to person; however, one frequently noted is spasticity, which causes pain, spasms, loss of function, and difficulties in nursing care. Anecdotal reports and a small controlled study have reported that cannabis improved spasticity and, to some extent, improved tremor in MS patients. Many studies of the pharmacology of cannabis have identified effects on motor systems of the central nervous system that have the potential of affecting tremor and spasticity. A recent carefully controlled study of the efficacy of THC in experimental allergic encephalomyelitis, the animal model of MS, demonstrated significant amelioration of these two MS symptoms. Moreover, cannabis has demonstrated effects on immune function that also have the potential of reducing the autoimmune attack that is thought to be the underlying pathogenic process in MS. Many MS patients report that cannabis has a startling and profound effect on muscle spasms, tremors, balance, bladder control, speech and eyesight. Some patients who use wheelchairs, or other assistive walking devices, report that they can walk unaided after using cannabis.
