CRICKET: Grey College recently hosted a cricket festival and some of the top cricket schools in the country attended this festival. Day 1 (Time Cricket) Grey College vs Selborne Grey batted first and declared on 231/9 in 59 overs. Amandio Cavaleiro was the pick of the batsmen and scored 119 runs. Selborne was restricted to 185/7 in 59 overs. The match ended in a draw. Day 2 (T 20) Grey College vs Northwood Grey batted first and scored 137/7 in 20 overs. Amandio Cavaleiro and JP Coetzee scored 37 runs each. Grey bowled Northwood out for 91 runs. Tsediso Kheswa and Brandon Callis took 3 wickets each. Grey won by 46 runs. Day 3 (50 overs) Grey College vs Framesby Grey batted first and scored 273/8 in their 50 overs. CP Klijnhans batted well for his 124 runs. He was well supported by JP Coetzee who scored 56 runs. Grey bowled Framesby out for 172 runs. Christean Neethling took 3 wickets for 20 runs. Brian Kershaw and Juan-Dee Oliver took 2 wickets each. Grey won by 101 runs. Day 4 (T 20) Grey vs St Charles St Charles batted first and was restricted to 88/8 in their 20 overs. Brian Kershaw bowled exceptionally well to take 5 wickets for 16 runs. Grey then scored 93/3 in 15 overs with Danwich Beukes who was not out on 50 runs. Grey won by 7 wickets. 1. Grey vs St. Stithians 1 st team: St Stithians batted first and was bowled out for 144 runs. Juan Dee Oliver took 4 wickets for 32 runs. WATER POLO u/18 ITEC Water polo tournament: Grey vs Glenwood Grey won 6-4 Grey vs Selborne Grey lost 1-6 Grey vs St. Benedict s Grey lost 2-4 SOCCER Three u/15 players, Henka Scheepers, Ofentse Mpiwa and Lutho Maneli, were called up to join the u/17 National training camp in January this year. This after five of our u/15 players were also called up in December to join the u/17 National training camp. They played in the Four Nations Cup in Lesotho. They are: Henka Scheepers (he was unfortunately injured), Otlotlile Hlaheng, Nelson Balepile, Lutho Maneli and Ofentse Mpiwa.
TENNIS Junior Australian Open Results: Well done to Philip Henning in reaching the Singles 3 rd round of the Junior Australian Open.In the second round he beat the world s no. 9 player and lost in 3 sets to the world s no. 7 player in the 3 rd round. He also reached the quarter finals of the doubles. Philip Henning, was the only South African who qualified for the annual Traralgon tournament for juniors in Australia. GOLF Wilco Nienaber won the Greg Norman Academy Junior Invitational final in South Carolina, America. This is his third win in the Global Junior Golf Tour in 2017. His first win was in South Africa and the second one in Germany. Back in South Africa, he beat the number 1 amateur golfer!
