2014 in Review During the 2014 season the Staten Island Yankees finished the season in third place, with a 37-38 record, in the McNamara Division behind the Brooklyn Cyclones and Hudson Valley Renegades who won the division. The Staten Island Yankees failed to qualify for the playoffs and had to go home early last season. In terms of stats, the team posted the fifth best ERA in the New York-Pennsylvania League and led the league in doubles. For individuals Christopher Breen led the team with 8 homeruns, while Ty McFarland led the team with 40 RBI s. When it came to pitching Rony Bautista led the team with 58 strikeouts in only 35.2 innings pitched. 13
2015 Season Preview Coach Garza is looking to improve on his rookie season as manager of the SI Yankees. There was not much turnover this season from last season s team so Coach Garza hopes a second year under him will benefit the players. Because there was not much roster turnover this year, Coach Garza plans on shaking things up with the pitching staff from last year. Coach Garza plans on turning Rony Bautista into our number one starting pitcher to make better use of his explosive fastball and get him more experience. We plan on being more aggressive at the plate to improve on the.240 batting average from the 2014 season. Also Coach Garza plans on using speed and being aggressive on the bases to bring in more runs to support our great pitching staff. With Ty McFarland hitting 3 rd and Chris Breen hitting 4 th we feel our offense should compete with the best of the McNamara division. Our expectation is to win the division and make our return to the playoffs. 14
Richmond County Bank Ballpark Richmond County Ballpark is home of the Staten Island Yankees and has been since 2001. It is located at 75 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY, 10301 which neighbors the Staten Island Ferry. The stadium was strategically built right next to the Staten Island Ferry, which is a huge tourist attraction in New York City so as people are taking the ferry into Staten Island from Manhattan they see the stadium and are immediately intrigued and also when going to the games you get treated to a wonderful view of the Manhattan skyline over the water. Being that it is in such close proximity to the ferry there is a large variety of places to eat around the stadium including pizza 15
parlors, local eateries, and even a couple national franchises including Subway that are all within a five minute walk from the stadium. The stadium also hosts events such as high school graduations, and even the occasional high school baseball game during the offseason. One of the major attractions of the stadium is every Friday night after a home game the team puts on a fireworks display over the water. 16
