SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Volunteerism & Giving Annual Fund The YMCA is dedicated to providing quality services that promote healthy bodies, minds and spirits. Your help is needed to keep this promise of financial support to youth and families in our community. For information on giving, please contact Marion Kelly at 857-547-1330 or Elspeth Bertrand at 857-547-1335. Both my husband and I understand the demand for after school (and before) care especially for the younger-aged children and often it can be difficult to get a spot for a child. It is stressful for working parents to figure out what best suits their child s needs as well as the parent s needs and the Y has been such a supportive group during our difficult times. Shortly after joining the Y for afterschool care when our daughter was old enough, it just so happened that at different times both my husband and I were laid off. The Y was so helpful working with our schedule, payment flexibility and just making us feel that as long as we worked with them, they would work with us. It was such a relief to not have the burden of losing our slot and being able to adjust the schedule in our time of uncertainty. Later, our daughter was sadly diagnosed with a chronic illness and we were suddenly in need of changing her Y schedule on very short notice. The Y s flexibility was so appreciated. While our whole lives seemed to be constantly changing and we were receiving bad news after bad news, it was such a relief to know that our daughter would have a spot at the Y when she was ready and that we could deal with the paperwork, payments and so forth when the time came. I can t say enough good things for the flexibility and understanding the Y had for us. The Y is a wonderful program and so many parents in the Boston school districts rely heavily on their programs. They are a consistent program with very confident and knowledgeable staff who seems to really enjoy what they do. It feels like the Y is really here for us.thanks for allowing me to share our little story and thank you for being there. -After School Parent West Roxbury YMCA Board of Advisors Janet Bakas Carey Bertrand Mary Ellen Carew-Lyons Richard Cencini Ellen Duffy Louis Falcone Julie Frattaroli Frank Galvin Frederick Gillis Anne Green David Hasenfus Maureen Hegarty James Hennigan Dr. Leslie Hirsch William Joyce Richard Laham Helen Loney Alan MacKinnon Douglas McClure Janet McGrail Robert McLaughlin Peter Meagher Gwynne Morgan Stephen Morris Mary Mulvey Jacobson Wayne Murphy Lisa O Brien Jack O Connor Lovey Oliff Karen Payne Kenneth Phalan Edward Roach Catherine Slade Ronia Stewart Jim Sweeney Anthony Teta Jessica Warning Peter Wright Pauline Zywaski GROWING STRONGER TOGETHER YMCA of Greater Boston signature programs and services help strengthen the community.
