Winter Skills Training 2017 Parent/Player Welcome Guide

New in 2017 Players will be split into training groups according to the chart on the next slide. What about Non- Cheslea SC members that registered? Non Chelsea SC members simply show up and check in with Coach Shawn. Coach Shawn will place all new faces in an appropriate training group/environment also. NO MORE STATIONS Each designated group will train together weekly in the same court. This will help provide as many as 5-10 extra minutes of training per hour vs the previous Stations/Rotations system we used. Groups may have the same coach(s) each week or a slight variation of Chelsea SC coaches. Training consistency and progression through the 9 week Skills Training Program. Weekly Homework is assigned and encouraged to be worked on at home. Homework will be reviewed weekly with your coaches. Juggling Club: Introduction to Chelsea SC s Juggling Club. How many times can you keep the ball up without it touching the ground? Juggling is terrific for 1 st Touch and Control Improvement we want to encourage more Juggling!

How are Players Grouped? 4-5PM Birth Years: 2011 2006 1. Bulldogs Group: West Court Chelsea SC Player Base = 19 Players + non members Boys born in 2008-2011 Girls born in 2007-2011 2. Chelsea SC Group: Center Court Chelsea SC Player Base = 24 Players + non members Boys born in 2007 All U11 Boys Team Players 3. Ohana Group: East Court (nearest to the exit) Chelsea SC Player Base = 21 Players + non members All other 2006 Boys (U12 Blue Team) All U12 Girls Players 2006 & Younger 5-6PM Birth Years: 2005-2002 1. Bulldogs Group: West Court Chelsea SC Player Base = 21 Players + non members Boys born in 2005 Girls born in 2005 2. Chelsea SC Group: Center Court Chelsea SC Player Base = 30 Players + non members All U14 Girls Born in 2003, 2004 All U14 Boys Gold Team Members 3. Homework Demo & Review (5 Mins) A 2 minute instruction/water break is taken after each of the first three phases. PLAYER EXPECTATIONS: Arrive 5 mins early. Come Prepared with: Soccer Ball; Water Bottle; Flat Soled Athletic Shoes Attention: Listen to your coaches & Focus on learning and improving your skills. Please don t ask to play games Remember you are here to learn and improve individual skills. PARENT EXPECTATIONS: Please Refrain from Coaching or Instructing Encourage Focus & Hard Work or simply relax and enjoy watching. 5-6PM Birth Years: 2005-2002 There will be 5 phases to each session: 1. FAQ s 1. When is Winter Skills Training? Visit our website at www.chelseasoccerclub.org for a complete listing of dates. 2. Does Chelsea SC accept outsiders in this program? Yes, of course! We encourage anyone interested to come join us and accept up to 50 Non-Members to Participate in our Winter Skills Training Program. Register online at: https://sports.bluesombrero.com/default.aspx?tabid=597076 3. What about current team members? Current participating team members simply show up at their assigned times. Our Winter Skills Training Program is included in your annual registrations. 4. What Time do we show up? Anyone born in 2006-2011 shall report for Training from 4-5pm. Anyone born in 2002-2005 shall report for Training from 5-6pm. 5. Where is Winter Skills Training Held? Chelsea HS Gym. Located at 740 N. Freer Rd. Chelsea, MI 6. What should my player bring to training? Soccer Ball; Flat soled athletic shoes (NO CLEATS); Water Bottle & Any other personal items that your son/daughter may want or need with them.
