CITY OF LONDON Impact and Benefits We have worked closely with the City of London to maximise the benefits the event provides to the City. This provides the template and case study of how the Nocturne can benefit new international host cities. MEDIA EXPOSURE ECONOMIC IMPACT CHARITY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CYCLING (TRANSPORT STRATEGY) The Nocturne attracts significant international media coverage including TV coverage. This has been integrated into the tourism strategy to promote the area to international visitors. The Nocturne is free to attend bringing thousands of spectators and participants into the City. 2016 economic impact estimated at 500,000 from accommodation and visitor spend - we work closely with local businesses to engage with the event to maximise economic benefits. Fundraising initiatives are created around the event linked to local charities. Events and initiatives are created to engage community groups. For example, in London a family zone is created in the main expo area with children s cycle saftey training (sponsored by Cheapside Business Alliance). The event is used to promote key messages about transport strategy and cycling in partnership with Transport for London
