Campbellford team headed to Little Rock Provincials Article by Sue Dickens, Trent Hills Now.com Campbellford The next generation of curlers descended on the Campbellford Curling Club on Sunday, February 15, to compete in the 2018 Hogline Little Rock Zone 4 Championship. One of two Campellford teams that took to the ice will be heading to the provincials to compete in Manotick on March 24. Six teams curled in the day-long event here with two Campbellford teams on the ice alongside three from Quinte/Belleville and one from Tweed. The winning Campbellford team includes: Skip Tyler Hart; Vice Gabe McFayden; Second Nolan Eakins; and Lead Jaden Jeffs. Photo by Sue Dickens Don t forget our yard sale It s time to start gathering items we can sell at our club yard sale on May 18 & 19. When you do your spring cleaning, keep us in mind. All proceeds to the club. Contact Ray or Doris Wellman for more information. Ice stats with Barry While he s been busy scraping and pebbling, Barry Brown has also been keeping track of the numbers and they are quite amazing. Barry says it took 6,000 gallons and 23 floods to install the ice in the fall. Since then the icemakers have done about 340 scrapes after games. It takes five gallons of water to pebble all the sheets so they ve applied about 1,700 gallons of water to keep our rocks sliding. Barry notes that it takes about an hour and a half to scrape, pebble and nip the ice to prepare it. 4
