All 4-H members with animal projects must participate in Showmanship and Grooming/Fitting classes, if offered; to be eligible for type classes at Roundup unless they obtain permission to be excused for school classes or further education. Market Sheep, Swine and Goats will be weighed in on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. in the Livestock Complex. All animal entries MUST be entered in the Fair Entry Program by Friday, July 13, 2018. The Fair website www.crawfordcountyfairpa.com will have a link to the Fair Entry Program. Follow the instructions to log in to enter your animals. Once all entries are completed for each individual department, print out the Animal Entry Payment Confirmation and mail it with a check payable to the 185

Crawford County Fair to the respective Department Chairman. Entries will not be officially accepted by the Department Chairmen until payment is received. Deadline: Friday, July 20, 2018. A $1.00 fee per animal must accompany the entry blanks. NOTE: There is no additional entry fee for 4-H animals only for Open Departments. The Fair Veterinarian, Dr. Nicole Drummond, is responsible for supervising checking in animals onto the Fairgrounds and has the final word on removal of animals from the grounds for health reasons. If a veterinarian is needed for any other medical reason, you as the exhibitor, are responsible for all treatment costs incurred. RULES The Chairman and Crawford County Extension agents are responsible for any amendments, exceptions and/or disputes regarding this department. In the event of the Chairperson s absence the Vice-Chairman will assume his responsibility/authority. 1. All animals exhibited by 4-H Club members must be bona fide 4-H projects, registered in member s name by July 14th. Registration paper must be available for inspection by officials. The foregoing restrictions do not include animals shown as market lambs. 2. Must follow all rules in Department 07 and Health Rules. A copy of health papers must be given to the Chairman at the time of check-in. 3. Members may enter and show one breed. 4. No more than two animals may be shown per class for a total of eight breeding animals. Animals may be yearling ewes, ewe lambs, yearling rams and ram lamb. 5. All 4-H animals are to be shown by a 4-H er 6. Exhibitor Cards are to be filled in with the complete information and must be displayed for each animal. 7. All 4-H animal exhibitors must enter Sections 3 and 4. Failure to follow any of the rules will result in disqualification from the Show and Sale Hay, grain and straw are to be furnished by the exhibitor. 186

One animal per exhibitor. The lambs over 80 lbs will be divided as equally as possible into classes of approximately ten animals. Lambs under 80 lbs. will be shown in the feeder lamb class. All lambs will be weighed at the Fair on Monday morning. All lambs are to be dry for weigh-in. Only one Showperson per entry allowed in the ring for Market Classes. Selection will be made from the highest placing qualified individual from each weight class showing for an overall champion. An award will be presented at time of selection. SECTION 3 SHOWMANSHIP (PM) Entries for the combined showmanship classes will be divided as equally as possible into groups of about ten per class according to 4-H age. Either a breeding animal or a market animal that the exhibitor has shown in a 4-H class may be shown (except with permission from the Show Chairperson). The judge will be advised that in the Junior Class no deductions for use of a halter will be assessed. No sideline coaching will be permitted. 4-H sheep exhibitors only will be eligible for these classes. The fitting class will be conducted as follows: 1. Sheep will be provided for this contest. Each individual will be given 20 minutes to fit their assigned side of the sheep. 189

2. Exhibitor will be judged on his/her ability to show, and his/her knowledge on proper procedures in fitting a sheep for show. 3. Exhibitors will not be allowed to use electric clippers or non- commercially accepted products/practices to perform this task. 4. 4-H sheep exhibitors only will be eligible for these classes.
