Thank you Jude Duffy for training our dancers and Alistair Gillies for the musical accompaniment. Hooray!! Chris Cannon from Wenlock Olympian Society visited us this week. He talked to the children about the origins of the Olympic Torch and answered questions that Class 2 had asked in letters they had sent to him. He presented a slide show, brought in medals and the Wenlock Mascot to show them. Thank you to Miss Smith who organised the event. The children are now well informed in preparation for our visit to Much Wenlock on the 30th May and ready for the games taking part this summer. After a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears the Year 6 SATs are finally over. To celebrate Year 6 relax with a well earned ice cream lolly! Well done to all of our Year 6 children for their efforts this week!

2-24 June Much Wenlock Festival - An arts for everyone booklet was distributed to all children recently. Could we draw your attention to page 19, Schools photographic competition entitled Our Community in 2012. There are seven age categories for entries - YrR (4-5), Yr1 (5-6), Yr2 (6-7), Y3 (7-8), Yr4 (8-9), Yr5(9-10) and Yr6 (10-11). There will be a First, Second and Third prize for each section of 15, 10 and 5. The size of the entry should be 6 x 4 inches / 10 x 15 cm and may be colour, black and white and may have special effects applied. However it is essential the entries are the unaided work of the child whose name appears on the entry form. Entries need a brief description of picture or picture caption or title. All entries must be handed to Mrs Maddox in school on Monday 21 May (next week). So get clicking on those cameras this weekend. School Photos - proofs have been handed to children today of the individual and sibling photos taken. Please could you return your order by next Friday 25th May, so that we can process these before half term. Unfortunately due to weather conditions we were not able to take the group photographs (class photos and whole school), so we have booked the photographer for Tuesday 19th June. WANTED Donations of red, white and blue themed items for a tombola stall to be held at our street party on Thursday 30 th May. See attached for a reminder of the event.

Street Party - Thursday 31st May - Reminder We are holding a street party on this day to celebrate Queen Elizabeth s Diamond Jubilee. There will be a themed school lunch, which we hope as many children as possible will join in with (see below), followed by a street party in the playground (weather permitting!!!) at 2pm. Parents are invited to join us for this and we would also like you to donate a snack ie biscuits, cakes etc for this. There will be a number of stalls at the event run and supported by our hard working PTA volunteers. To make the day even more special we would like all our children to dress in red, white and blue for the day. We look forward to seeing you there. 31st May
