Join Florida s long-standing tradition and become a part of this Olympic-style sports festival with over 4,000 athletes. GENERAL INFORMATION Sports of the 2009 Sunshine State Games Summer Games Archery, Badminton, Baseball, Canoe / Kayak, Fencing, Judo, Karate, Powerlifting, Racquetball, Rowing, Rugby, Softball Fast Pitch, Synchronized Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Ultimate, Weightlifting & Wrestling Dates & Times The 2009 Sunshine State Games will be held June 12-14, 2009 at various locations throughout Polk County. See the competition information for sport schedules. Who Can Compete? All Florida residents who have lived in the state for at least 30 days prior to the date of competition are eligible if they meet the requirements specified by each sport. Age divisions, levels of expertise and types of qualification vary with each sport. How Can I Enter? To enter any sport, a 2009 Sunshine State Games Official Entry Form and Waiver of Liability must be completed and returned to the address below received by the deadline for your sport or register online at www.flasports.com. Sports may vary, so please see the competition information for more details on registration procedures, deadlines and entry fees. Confirmation of entry in the 2009 Sunshine State Games will be the responsibility of the registrant, and can be checked by visiting www.flasports.com or by calling toll-free 1-866-FL-GAMES (354-2637).

To enter, return the completed official entry form and signed waiver with entry fees payable to the Florida Sports Charitable Foundation (FSCF) or register online at www.flasports.com. Team rosters and waivers of liability for all players are not due until the designated time for that sport, which is typically on-site at the mandatory coaches meeting. The official roster can be found in this information. Note: Rowing teams must submit a Boat Declaration Form along with Individual Entry Forms and a Waiver of Liability for each athlete. Entry Deadline Entry deadlines vary by sport. Some sports have late registration deadlines or on-site registration. Guarantee that you get into the Games and register early! Online registration is available at www.flasports.com. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, and certain events could close prior to the deadline based on entries. NO REFUNDS. Athlete T-shirts / Games Headquarters Athlete t-shirts will be available at each competition venue during designated check-in times. For most team sports, athlete t-shirts will be available at the mandatory coaches meeting. Though every effort will be made to have t-shirts available for all athletes, those athletes registering on-site will not be guaranteed a t-shirt or souvenir program. Every participant should be sure to have proof of insurance in case of an emergency. Conduct Sportsmanship and fair play are the cornerstones of the Sunshine State Games, and are at the core of the Olympic ideal. The Florida Sports Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any Games participant for the improper use of alcohol or drugs, the destruction of property, unsportsmanlike conduct, or any other behavior that is detrimental to the Games. Housing and Food Participants are responsible for their own housing arrangements and meals while competing in the Sunshine State Games. Host Hotel information is available in this packet and a complete listing is available online at www.flasports.com. Please be sure to mention the Sunshine State Games when making reservations to ensure the best rates. To ensure rates and availability, we suggest making hotel reservations no later than May 22, 2009. Inclement Weather The Florida Sports Foundation is not responsible for changes to the event program, postponements or cancellations due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control. In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete all games and events as scheduled. However, the Florida Sports Foundation reserves the right to change the schedule or format of the competition, postpone

events or cancel events due to inclement weather. No refunds will be given as a result of these circumstances. In case of inclement weather for outdoor sports, please report to your scheduled venue at the appropriate time. If games are postponed or cancelled, please check the designated area for schedule changes. Designated areas can be found in the competition information or will be determined at the mandatory coaches meeting for your sport. Though Games Headquarters will remain updated of any changes in schedule, all official rescheduling will take place at the sport venue or designated location. USA Badminton membership is required. Current members must include their USAB membership number under the column labeled USAB Membership #.

3. USA Badminton memberships will be available the day of the tournament. A one-year membership for Adults is $30 and for Juniors (21 and Under) is $20. 4. Each applicant must complete an Individual Entry Form and Waiver of Liability and submit them by the entry deadline or register online at www.flasports.com. 5. Doubles and Mixed Doubles applicants must note partner s name on Individual Entry Form. A partner may be requested by writing REQUEST under the partner name column. 6. Pre-registration entries must be received by May 29, 2009 or register online at www.flasports.com by June 4, 2009. 7. On-site registration may be taken at the discretion of the Event Director with an additional $10 on-site late fee for the first event and an additional $5 for each additional event. 8. It is the responsibility of the applicant to confirm their registration by visiting www.flasports.com or calling toll-free 1-866-FL-GAMES (354-2637). 9. Adult age divisions will be determined by age on December 31, 2009. (Example: you may play in the 50+ division if you are 49 on June 18 but turn 50 on December 1, 2009.) Eligibility for Adult doubles events is determined by age of the youngest partner, when applicable. 10. Junior age division will be determined by age on June 13, 2009 (the first day of the tournament). Eligibility for Junior doubles is determined by age of the oldest partner, when applicable. FORMAT 1. Format will be determined at the discretion of the Tournament Director and will be determined by the number of entries in the event. Age groups may be combined or played in a round-robin format. 2. All competitors will play at least 2 matches per event, dependant on number of entries. 3. Men are limited to a maximum of 4 events, ladies are limited to a maximum of 5 events. 4. All age divisions will play with feather shuttles. Aeroplane tournament grade (SG1130) shuttles will be used (www.shuttles.com). 5. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division.
