STOCK SHOW UNIVERSITY CLINIC REGISTRATION INFORMATION Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is pleased to present this educational program geared to help participants learn proven techniques and tips on feeding & general care, washing & drying, clipping, show-day preparation and showmanship. Stock Show University is an educational program that offers clinics to all youth and adults who not only want to improve their knowledge of the show industry, but improve their skills for their respective project. Stock Show University (SSU) offers a variety of clinics across the US, Canada and Australia for cattle, sheep, goats and hogs. These clinics cover topics such as daily hair care, showmanship, fitting etc. and are taught by industry's top professionals and "professors". Entries close March 23, 2018. 1. Open to registered participants of all ages. 2. Registration is $60 plus GST per participant which includes lunch for participant and one (1) parent. 3. Those wishing to participate in the show must register for the clinic. 1. Exhibitors must register for clinic to be eligible to show in either the heifer or steer shows. 2. Club Displays will be allowed but not compulsory. We encourage Club signs. We request all areas including stalls, tack boxes, etc. be maintained in a neat and orderly manner. 3. Entries must be made in the name of the person exhibiting. All animals: must be halter broke all steers must be dehorned all animals must have approved RFID tags. all animals may be subjected to a veterinary inspection 4. All exhibitors are required to have a fully completed manifest accompany the animals being transported to and from the show as required by Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture. 5. Exhibitors are required to bring their own feed. 6. All exhibitors must register at the Saskatchewan Beef Expo Show Office immediately upon arrival. 7. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to advise the Show Office of any cancellation of entries. 8. Exhibitors are encouraged to use a show harness for their numbers. Numbers will be allocated to exhibitors and must be worn in the show ring. 9. Participants in this competition will be provided with a program containing specific information on barn, show ring, wash rack regulations, special awards and other information. 10. Entrants and their exhibits shall come under the supervision and direction of the Saskatchewan Beef Expo Show Committee and shall observe all reasonable rules and regulations established by the Committee for the orderly conduct of the program. 11. Tampering with Livestock a) Any surgical procedure or injection of any foreign substance or drug or the external application of any substance (irritant, counterirritant, or similar substance) which could affect the animal s performance or alter its natural contour, confirmation, or appearance, except external applications of substances to the hooves or horns of animals which affect appearance only and except for surgical procedures performed by a duly licensed veterinarian for the sole purpose of protecting the health of the animal, is prohibited. b) The use of drenching, mechanical pumping devices, or other abnormal methods to administer water or fluids to animals will not be permitted, except for veterinarian approved treatments for dehydration. 12. The Saskatchewan Beef Expo Show reserves the right to decide on any point not covered in the rules and regulations and to make such changes in the prize list as are deemed necessary and in the best interest of the Show. 4

13. Competitors and their exhibits shall enter the competitions at their own risk. 14. The Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation, its Directors, Committee Members, Management or Employees shall not be responsible in any way for any injury to any person or for any loss of or damage to any property belonging to the Licensee or Renter or such other person or persons contracting herein for the use of property or premises of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation, their invitees, licensees, agents, contractors, sub-contractors, affiliates, employees or workmen, while such person or property is in or about the premises, or any roadways, platforms or corridors in connection therewith, including (without limiting the foregoing) any loss of or damage to any property caused by theft or breakage, or by steam, water, rain or snow which may leak into, issue or flow from any part of the premises or any adjacent or neighbouring land or from the water, steam or drainage pipes or plumbing works thereof or from any other place or corridor or for any loss or damage caused by or attributable to the condition or arrangement of any electric or other wiring or for any other loss whatsoever arising out of the occupancy of the premises or any operations or activities conducted therein by such persons as aforesaid; and the Renter or Licensee and such other person or persons contracting herein for the use of property or premises of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation covenants to indemnify the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation, its Directors, Committee Members, Management or Employees against all loss, cost, claims, or demands in respect of any injuries, loss or damage referred to in this paragraph. 15. Any entrant or exhibitor may be required by the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation to make a statutory declaration that the exhibits entered are shown in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the show. Should any exhibitor refuse to make such declaration on being requested, he or she will forfeit premiums awarded on the entry in doubt. 16. Any person who shall attempt to interfere with or influence the judge/s while in the discharge of their duties, or shall at any time, on the premises of the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation, use any contemptuous or abusive language to any judge, or within his hearing, in consequence of any award made by him, or any exhibitor refusing to accept any award made by a judge, shall forfeit his right to any premiums to which he might otherwise be entitled. Judges are particularly requested to report any breach of this rule. 17. Judges will award prizes only to deserving exhibits; where there is no competition, the judge shall decide whether the exhibit entered is entitled to the first or any other prize. 18. When respectfully requested to do so, the judges may give the reason for their decisions. 19. All entries must be on the printed forms supplied for that purpose. The particulars called for on the entry form must be fully and correctly supplied and written in clear, legible writing or type-written and properly signed by the exhibitor or his duly authorized agent. 20. Prize money will be presented at the show-office. 21. Any entrant or exhibitor, by act of making entry, exhibiting or occupying any space on the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation grounds, agrees to the rules and regulations printed herein. 22. We encourage parents work with their kids, just not do it for them. That adults and parents keep in mind that this is an educational opportunity for the participants of the show and therefore limited parental involvement is encouraged. DISCIPLINARY ACTION Any violation of the Saskatchewan Beef Expo program or regulations established by the Saskatchewan Beef Expo Committee shall automatically result in forfeiture of any prizes. The Committee may also refuse special privileges, send the junior competitor home and/or contact the parents. SASKATCHEWAN BEEF EXPO DISCIPLINARY RULES & REGULATIONS Anyone with any indication of having consumed alcohol will be expelled from the competition. NO SMOKING and NO ALCOHOL in stabling or show ring areas. Abusive language or undesirable actions will not be tolerated. Stall area must be kept clean at all times and must be clean when you leave, otherwise you be billed for clean up. Participants will be advised of any further regulations for the proper operation of the show. 5 will

HEIFER SHOW SUNDAY, April 8, 2018 9:00 a.m. Judge: TBA SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS - Entries Close: March 23, 2018 1. Open to both purebred and grade animals of any recognized beef breed. Animals will be judged as breeding animals. 2. One heifer entry per exhibitor. Entry must be owned by a family member or be the exhibitors 4-H project. 3. The breed of the animal shall be determined by the BREED OF SIRE unless designated otherwise in the classification. 4. Animals are eligible for breed special awards by one breed only. 5. The Saskatchewan Beef Expo Committee reserves the right to cull any animal of inferior quality. 6. Animals must be stabled on the grounds by 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018. Stabling available starting Friday, April 6, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. 7. Release Time: Following completion of the show, Sunday, April 8. 8. No adults will be allowed in the show ring. 9. ENTRY FEE: $25.00+gst per entry must accompany entry form. 10. Class #1 will divided into individual breeds providing there are at least four animals entered of the same breed. Prize money will be paid for each breed class provided. If 12 or more entries per breed class are stabled, then the class will be split. 11. It will be the responsibility of the person who made the entry to advise the Saskatchewan Beef Expo Show Office of any cancellation of entries. 12. Stabling Space will be allocated to the number of animals that arrive. 13. Animals must be stabled at all times in designated areas only. 14. All animals in the barn will be needed to participate in the Team Judging competition. Parents are encouraged to participate and lead calves during the Team Judging competition. 15. We encourage parents work with their kids, just not do it for them. That adults and parents keep in mind that this is an educational opportunity for the participants of the show and therefore limited parental involvement is encouraged. HEIFER CLASSIFICATION Class 1 YEARLING HEIFER BORN JANUARY 1 st - DECEMBER 31 st 2017. PRIZES TO BE DETERMINED. Class 2 GRAND CHAMPION & RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION YEARLING HEIFER Top two animals from all divisions of class 1 will compete. 6

The breed of an animal shall be determined according to the BREED OF THE SIRE (or as stated in the classifications). 2. One steer entry per exhibitor. Entry must be owned by a family member or be the exhibitors 4-H project. 3. Animals are eligible for breed special awards by one breed only. 4. The Saskatchewan Beef Expo Committee reserves the right to cull any animal of inferior quality. 5. Animals are to be stabled on the grounds by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018. Move-in Friday, April 6, 2018 after 9:00 a.m. 6. Release Time: Following completion of the show, Sunday, April 8 7. ENTRIES CLOSE: March 23, 2018. 8. ENTRY FEE: $25.00+gst per animal must accompany entry form. 9. Steers will be weighed starting at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 6. 10. Steers will be weighed only once. 11. a) Animals will be shown by weight. b) Classes will be split by weight; decided by the committee. 12. First and second from each class will compete for the overall Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. 13. NOTE: ALL STEERS MUST BE TAGGED WITH A RFID (CANADIAN CATTLE INDENTIFICATION ASSOCIATION) APPROVED EARTAG. 14. Animals must be de-horned; animals with horns are not permitted in this competition. 15. It is the responsibility of the person who made the entry to advise the Saskatchewan Beef Expo Show Office of any cancellation of entries. 16. Stabling Space will be allocated to the number of animals that arrive. 17. Animals must be stabled at all times in designated areas only. 18. Class 3 MARKET STEER BORN IN 2017. This class will be divided by weight. PRIZES TO BE DETERMINED. Class 4 GRAND CHAMPION & RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION MARKET STEER Top two animals from all divisions of class 3 will compete. SHOWMANSHIP SHOW SUNDAY, April 8, 2018, following Steer Show 1. Youth participants who have entered and shown a steer or yearling heifer will be automatically entered in the Showmanship Show. 2. Entrants must show his/her own animal. Junior participants may have help in the ring from an intermediate or senior member. 3. Classes will be sub-divided following the registration if entries warrant. 4. Age classes will be split according to the number of entries received. Only the championship classes of each age division will be placed and receive prize money. 5. Class will be judged 100% on showmanship techniques. CLASS 5- Junior Showmanship (9 yrs. of age and not reached 13 th birthday as of Dec. 31, 2017). PRIZE MONEY: To be determined CLASS 6 - Intermediate Showmanship (13 yrs. of age and not reached 16 th birthday as of Dec. 31, 2017).
