Katherine has spent the better part of the last two decades living and studying the horse. Horsemanship Apprenticeship Program Katherine founder of Whispering Hooves, will offer an intensive multi session program at Katherine s facility in Miller Place, New York as well as her Northeast Learning Center. The complete program consists of instructional sessions five days a week (Monday-Friday) existing on or about 8 weeks (depends on individual), with sufficient duration between for breaks, in order to ensure adequate time to hone your skills. With intensive practice, coaching, support, and stringent assessments by Katherine, you will earn a certificate of completion by attending her Apprenticeship program. Mandatory participation with week long intensive clinics as well as two day clinics (travel expenses, cost of participation in clinics are extra and not included in pricing of program).those who meet these requirements (including a written and performance-based test) will receive a diploma of completion, as well as free marketing on her website. ************************************** Horsemanship 2 Partnership and Confidence Building Horsemanship Perform and teach greater advanced skills with your horse. Trail safe horse begins the transformation to performance level horse. You shall learn techniques to teach enhanced balanced walking trotting, cantering. Equipment knowledge Leg and Seat cues Collection Direct, Indirect & Neck reining Side passing, correct backing, advanced stops, turns on forehand, turns on the haunches, circles, leads, obstacles and lateral work. Hip control Speed control Understanding the four quarters x 4 Flexion, softness and balanced movement Understanding positions of open and closed doors, opposite diagonals Develop advanced communication and a better understanding of horse psychology as you develop improved timing, finesse, balance and feel. Psychology mental riding The program is easily adaptable to either English or Western Riding. Upon completion of all three sessions you will be a graduate of our program. ************************************** The cost of the program is $1,250 per week, and you can either bring your own horse or use ours. Programs usually go for on or about 6-8 weeks (depending on the individual and ability) and are split up in two week increments so the information has time to absorb and practice can be done in between. If in the case you choose to bring your own, these requirements are mandatory: ** A negative Coggins (within the 6 months prior to the sessions being). **Proof of well vet care recent updated shots, especially rabies. **Floated teeth, cleaned sheaths and/or utters. **Hooves trimmed. For your convenience, local vets, farrier, equine massage therapist, equine dentists are available. In signing this contract, you agree that medical care, feeding regiment, supplies, and costs are your responsibility.

I realize this is a significant investment of time and money on your part. Please know that I shall do my very best to ensure that you understand the lessons and get the results you desire. You can either bring one horse of your own or you can use one of ours, which you shall train. You will also be able to work with other horses if you so desire in order to get a feel for the various reactions of different horses during the course of your studies. This is highly recommend for my students, for the more horses you get your Hands on, the better equipped handler you will be. I also get you involved with field work that gets you the experience in the why and how s of training and teaching clients. You will need a 12 nylon halter lead rope (available at Whispering Hooves, LLC ), if bringing your own horse: saddle blanket, saddle, bridle, bit, halter, extended pole or 4 dressage whip is your responsibility. For your convenience, some items are available for purchase with Katherine Barbarite of Whispering Hooves. Be sure he/she is physically ready to work. We will need a $1000 non-refundable deposit sent at least 30 days prior, in order to secure your spot, along with the completed waiver and registration forms. The program fee does not include your food, lodging (availability of housing inquire within) transportation, clinics, travel expenses and some equipment that you may have to purchase. The full balance shall be due on the first session, and then payments are due at the beginning of each week thereafter.
