Informational Section Dear Coach(es) and/or Team Adminstrator(s), Thank you for registering for this AAU licensed event, hosted by the Georgia Boys' Basketball Committee! Please review the information below. Parents and all other fans are required to pay an admission fee. The admission fee is as follows: $7 for ages 13 & Up, $5 for ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 & Under. NO REFUNDS The Georgia Boys Basketball Committee will be host to the 2018 Georgia District AAU Boys Basketball District and Super Qualifiers. The District Qualifiers are for Georgia teams only, and ALL teams that participate have an opportunity to qualify for AAU Nationals. The Super Qualifiers can have participants from any district, but only teams from Georgia can qualify for AAU Nationals by participating in these licensed events. Check-in is at least thirty (30) minutes prior to each team s first scheduled game of the tournament. All players must be present to be physically checked in. Below will be the requirements for certification of athletes prior to the start of the tournaments. 8U - 17U/11th Grade An unexpired passport An unexpired driver's license A Department of Motor Vehicles I.D. card issued within the last three (3) years A military dependent I.D. SportsAge I.D. 11U/5th Grade, 12U/6th Grade, 13U/7th Grade, 14U/8th Grade, 15U/9th Grade, 16U/10th Grade, and 17U/11th Grade A photocopy of that portion of the athletes' report card for the current school year which shows his name, grade, and school. Confirmation of grade level from a school administrator (e.g., guidance counselor, principal, dean, etc.) on official school letterhead. Coaches MUST adhere to the following dress code while on the bench during their scheduled games: collared shirt, slacks or khakis, and closed-toed shoes. Non-compliance with the coaches dress code will disallow coaches from sitting on the bench during their scheduled game times. You are allowed up to four (4) non-athletes (coaches, bench personnel, water boys, etc.) on your bench. Each non-athlete will receive a badge, which allows them free entry into the venue and allows them to sit on the bench during their scheduled game.

Coaches CANNOT wear the following while on the bench during their scheduled games: hats, t-shirts, cut-off pants, jeans, shorts, sweat pants, jogging pants, or open-toes shoes. Also, white is no longer mandatory for home jerseys; the home jersey must be a "light" color, and the guest/visitor jersey must be a "dark" color. Additional Terms & Conditions: This event is licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc. All participants must have a current AAU membership. AAU membership may not be included as part of the entry fee to the event. AAU membership must be obtained before the competition begins except where the event operator has a laptop available with an internet connection. BE PREPARED: Adult and Non-Athlete memberships are no longer instant and cannot be applied for at the event. Please allow up to 10 days for membership to be processed. Participants are encouraged to visit the AAU web site www.aausports.org to obtain their membership. The AAU does license events in local areas, granting a non-exclusive right to event hosts to use the AAU logo and brand under terms and conditions, including requirements as specified by AAU Code. The event operator is an independent contractor and is responsible for the management and conduct of the event and may set its own rules and operating procedures, except under no circumstances can the host waive the requirement of membership in AAU for participation in licensed events. By the AAU's granting of (a) license (an approval) to any event operator (Host) to conduct such event, the AAU does not accept any financial responsibility nor assure any particular quality of competition. The AAU of the U.S., Inc. does have supervision over District qualifying events, Regional/Super Regional events, and/or National Championship events in regard to establishing rules of competition, but does not have direct control over the event operators, pursuant and subject to the AAU Code (only). Each team is given a three-game guarantee. The AAU does provide insurance benefits to its members in specified situations, subject to the terms of its policies. There are no multi-team discounts for the tournament entry fee. All tournament fees must be paid in full by the tournament entry deadline. No refunds for tournament entry fee unless tournament is cancelled, and all refund requests must be put in writing and emailed to gaaauboysbasketball@yahoo.com. Tournament venues may change from the venues listed with or without advance notice; however, the Georgia Boys' Basketball Committee will make every effort to inform tournament participants of any venues changes.

2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST The official rules will be those of the Georgia High School Association for the current year, except where modified by the AAU Boys Basketball Rule Book and the Georgia Boys Basketball Committee. The placement of teams in pools in Georgia AAU Boys Basketball District Qualifying Tournaments is solely a subjective process and is done for the benefit of the competition as a whole. No club member, individual athlete, fan, or parent shall have a cause of action against the Sport Director or the Executive Committee with respect to any issue related to a team s placement in a pool. Dress Code: Coaches and bench personnel MUST adhere to the AAU dress code: collared shirt, khaki long pants, or slacks and closed-toed shoes; no hats, no blue jeans, no shorts, no sweat pants, no t-shirts, nor open-toed shoes. Non-compliance can disallow coaches and bench personnel from being able to sit on the bench during their scheduled games. Residency/Participation: The athlete must be a resident of the Georgia District or adjoining districts (Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southeastern-AL, or Southeastern-TN) by May 1, 2018, to compete in the Georgia District as an athlete. No more than three (3) athletes from an adjoining district can participate on one Georgia District club in an AAU licensed event. Roster Check-In/Verification Procedures: There will be MANDATORY roster checkin prior to each team s first scheduled game, so teams should arrive at least thirty (30) minutes prior to their first scheduled game of the tournament. Each team needs to bring along with their official AAU roster current AAU cards for all athletes and nonathletes

2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST that are on the official AAU roster. Non-athletes must check in with a government issued ID to receive their badge. Badges must be worn at all times while on the bench and to enter the playing facility free of charge. Each team is allotted four (4) nonathletes and fifteen (15) athletes. A. 8U - 14U: Proof of age is required; acceptable forms of age verification are as follows (only one form of age verification is required, not all): An unexpired passport An unexpired driver s license A Department of Motor Vehicles I.D. card issued within the last three (3) years A military dependent I.D. SportsAge I.D. https://www.sportsageid.com/home/aaulinkpage Athletes can be no older than the age restriction of each division on August 31, 2018. 2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST C. 11U/5 th Grade - 17U/11 th Grade (Grade Exception Athletes): Proof of grade is required for grade exception athletes; acceptable forms of grade verification is as follows (only one form grade verification is required, not all): A photocopy of that portion of the athletes report card for the current school year which shows his name, grade, and school. Confirmation of grade level from a school administrator (e.g., guidance counselor, principal, dean, etc.) on official school letterhead. D. Eligibility/Competition Rules (11U/5 th Grade - 17U/11 th Grade Only): 11U/5 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 5 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 12 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 11U/5 th grade division. 12U/6 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 6 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 13 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 12U/6 th grade division. 13U/7 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 7 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 14 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 13U/7 th grade division. 14U/8 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 8 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 15 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 14U/8 th grade division. 15U/9 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 9 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 16 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 15U/9 th grade division.

2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST 16U/10 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 10 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 17 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 16U/10 th grade division. 17U/11 th Grade: An athlete who is in the 11 th grade as of October 1, 2017 and who is no older than 18 on August 31, 2018 is eligible to play in the 17U/11 th grade division. Home, Guest/Visitor, & Jersey Colors: The home team shall be on the left side of the schedule in pool play/top of bracket in bracket play and shall wear LIGHT colored jerseys; the guest/visitor will be on the right side of the schedule/bottom of the bracket in bracket play and shall wear BLACK/DARK. Arm sleeves, knee sleeves, lower leg sleeves and tights are permissible (NFHS, Rule 3-5-3): a. Anything worn on the arm and/or leg is a sleeve, except a knee brace, and shall meet the color restrictions. b. The sleeves/tights shall be black, white, beige or the predominant color of the uniform and the same color sleeves/tights shall be worn by teammates. c. All sleeves/tights shall be the same solid color and must be the same color as any headband or wristband worn. Game Guarantee: Each team is guaranteed a three (3) game minimum; the third (3 rd ) game could be in either pool play or in single-elimination championship bracket play. Recovery Time: The minimum recovery time between games is one (1) game.

2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST Pool Play Tie Breaker: 1. In any situation where two (2) teams are tied, head-to-head competition between the teams will determine the winner. 2. If more than two (2) teams tie, a point differential tie-breaker will be applied. The point differentials of the teams involved in the tie are totaled. Teams are then ranked according to the sum of the point differential - with the highest number placing above the second highest point total and the third highest point total next. (The maximum that you can beat a team and still gain an advantage is 15 points.) 3. If two (2) teams are still tied after the application of the formula, go back to (1.) to break the tie. 4. If more than two (2) teams are still tied after the application of the formula, the point differentials of the team(s) not involved in the tie are added, and the results recalculated. 5. The score of all forfeits shall be 15-0. 6. If there is still a three way tie, a three way flip of the coin will determine team placement. 2018 Georgia AAU Boys Basketball Age/Grade Based District/Super Qualifying Tournament Rules (Keep this Information at the Scorer s Table) REVISED 2/11/2018 at 3:14pm/EST on time. The Tournament Commissioner must be notified immediately with regard to a team not being on time for their scheduled game. Timeouts: Teams are allowed five (5) timeouts: three (3) Full/Two (2) 30-second. Timeouts carry over from each half and into overtime. Teams gain one (1) additional timeout per overtime period. The game will continue until there is a winner. Fouls: Players foul out on their fifth (5 th ) foul. Teams shoot 1-and-1 on the 7 th, 8 th, and 9 th team foul; and shoot double bonus on the 10 th foul and on in each half, including overtime. Misbehavior/Ejections: 1. Any coach ejected for fighting will be removed for the remainder of the tournament. 2. Any player recorded on the official score sheet as ejected for fighting will be prohibited from playing in their next scheduled game. Penalties up to expulsion from the tournament can be levied upon players ejected for fighting. 3. If a coach or player is ejected from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct (not fighting), he/she will be ineligible to participate in their next scheduled game. The head coach may appeal the penalty by submitting a written request to the Sport Director in writing within two (2) hours of the conclusion of the game. 4. If a coach or player is ejected a second time, he/she will be ineligible for participating in the remainder of the tournament. 5. Coaches or athletes who leave the confines of the bench to engage players, coaches, or officials on the playing floor can face expulsion from the tournament. 6. The Georgia Boys Basketball Committee may impose suspensions or other penalties which occurs at any time and any location during the event. 7. Coaches and athletes who engage in misbehavior are subject to additional disciplinary action from the Georgia Boys Basketball Committee. Penalties may include suspension from AAU events in future years.
