Heat Wave Greetings from Sun Meadow What an amazing Skin to the Wind Festival of Fun we had! The concerts were all terrific, the WINR meeting was quite helpful, the games and sports were fun, and the blood drive was a rousing success - we gave a total of 29 pints! The folks from the blood bank are going to bring the bloodmobile back next year. Thanks to all who came out for the event. We play cards every day at 1:30, if we have at least three people, and pinochle or some other game on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. In This Issue: 1. July 21 A Quiet Weekend 2. July 27 Friday Full Moon Dance, July 29 Sunday BBFR
The full moon is Friday the 27th. While we usually have our DJ dances on Saturdays, since we ll be leaving Sun Meadow at 6 AM on Sunday morning, we thought we d schedule the dance for the night of the actual full moon (Friday) and go to bed early on Saturday. See you Friday! Then, as noted above, at 6 AM on Sunday July 29, we ll leave here for a day at Kaniksu Ranch to run in or watch the annual Bare Buns Fun Run. We usually stay until about 1 or 2 PM when they announce the times, and are back in plenty of time for dinner. If you ve never been to Kaniksu, it s a great chance to visit the club and not have to drive. There is a sign-up sheet outside the office. 3. August 4 Name Your Games We play a lot of games here at Sun Meadow. Card games, dominoes games, hot dice, Rummikub, King s Cribbage, disc golf, volleyball, shuffleboard, pickleball, bocce, horseshoes, ping pong, pool, foosball. We decided to devote a weekend to games. What s your vote for the games to include? 4. August 11 Bocce Tournament, Saturday Chili Cook-Off The AANR convention is August 6-11 at De Anza Springs Resort, and Margie is going. We decided to have a chili cookoff on Saturday! Besides that, Saturday afternoon will feature a bocce tournament, and after dinner we ll have Cowgirl TV and s mores. We ll still have the regular pot luck dinner on Sunday. You guys are truly great cooks! 5. August 18 Club Competition with Kaniksu We re working with Kaniksu to have a games competition there between the two clubs. If we have fun, we ll have it at Sun Meadow next year. That is, assuming we re able to work out the details with the Kaniksu folks. If that doesn t work out, we ll have some kind of game competition with our own people. 6. August 25 Bike Ride and Full Moon Dance First, we ll ride the Hiawatha trail. If you bring your own bicycle, make sure there s a light on it. Then, since it s a full moon, we re having a dance! 7. September 1-October 13 September 1 - Sports and a DJ dance 2 - Carpool to fireworks at Paul Bunyan Days in St. Maries 8 - Dog walk and casino night October 13 - Black Tie/White Glove Banquet and Concert 8.
