StudentsinBallet5,IntermediateBallet,AdvancedBallet,Sparklers,andAdvancedJazz/HipHopshouldarrive with their hair and makewup done for rehearsal, the same as for the performances that evening (makeup% guidelines%are%enclosed).ifyoudancerisinmorethanonepiece,havehaircompletedforthefirstpiecetheyare rehearsing,whichisnotedontheschedule. Familymembersmaywatch,videotape,andphotographthedressrehearsal,butpleaserefrainfromgoingto the backstage and greenroom areas, unless you are dropping off or picking up your child. This area is designatedfordancers,festivaldancefacultyandstaff,anddesignated backstagevolunteers. Theseareas are simply too small to reasonably accommodate others. Only females are allowed inside of the dressing rooms/green room instructors and backstage volunteers will supervise and help your children get into costumes. MAKEUPGUIDELINES AllstudentsneedtoarrivefortheeveningperformanceswithhairandmakeWupdone.Pleasecheckwithyour child s instructor for the specific hairstyle required for the performances. If your child is in more than one piece,hairshouldbecompletedfortheirfirstpiece.remembertobringmakeup,hairsprayorhairgel,brush, bobbypins,hairnets,etc.havingeverythingnecessaryandreadytogowillhelptherehearsalrunsmoothly. Step1. Foundationisusedtoevenoutthecomplexionandreduceshadowsfromstagelights. Alwaysapplyfoundationtoacleanface.Chooseashadeverysimilartothecoloroftheface. Usingamakeupsponge,applyanevencoatoffoundationtotheentireface,includingunder thechin,ontotheneck,aroundtheearsanduptothehairline.blendcarefullytoensurean evenapplication.setthefoundationwithasmallamountofpowder. Step2.Blushaddscoloraswellasdefinitiontotheface.Chooseapinkblushcolorsimilarto thenaturalcolorofthecheeks (the% color% should% not% be% too% bright% or% too% dull).smileandapply blushtotheapplesofthecheeks,sweepingupandouttowardthehairline. Step3.Applywhiteeyeshadowjustundertheeyebrow.Applyeyeshadowovertheentire eyelid.pickdarkbrownorgrey/charcoalcolorthatwillmakeyoureyesstandoutonstage,as stage lights tend to make the eyes appear smaller. Choose three complementary colors, applyingthedarkestshadeneartheeye,themediumshadeabovetheeyelidcrease,andthe lightestshadeundertheeyebrow.remembertoslightlyblendthecolorstogether. Step4.Liningtheeyeswitheyelinermakesthemreallystandout.Linethebottomoftheeye lidwithwhitepencil.useliquideyelineronthetoplidandapencillineronthebottom(pencil% liner%for%both%lids%on%very%young%dancer%is%acceptable). Tolinetheupperlid,applyathin,straightlinestartingfromtheinnercorner.Foradramatic effect, allow the line to extend beyond the natural eyelid. To line the lower lid, start at the outercorneroftheeyeanddrawathinlineunderthelowerlashes.linershouldstartwhere thelashesbeginandstopwheretheyendonbotheyelids.donotdo fishwlike eyeliner. Step 5. Using black mascara, gently sweep two coats on upper and lower lashes. Older dancerssometimeschoosetowearfalseeyelashes.youngdancersmayachievesimilarresults byapplyingseveralcoatsofmascaraaftercurlingthelasheswithaneyelashcurler. Step 6. Carefully apply a bright (but% tasteful)% shade of pink or red lipstick to the upper and lowerlips.blotsoftlywithatissue.
