ACES Swim Club 2012 COLORADO ACES HIGH POINT INVITE November 2-4, 2012 SANCTION: Held under the sanction of USA Swimming # 2012-104 LOCATIONS: Arapahoe High School 2201 East Dry Creek Road Littleton, CO 80122 POOLS: The Arapahoe pool is ten lanes, 25 yards with non-turbulent markers. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4). The meet may be run utilizing 6, 7, or 8 lanes depending upon the size of the meet. Lanes 9 and 10 will be used for warmup/warm-down. Depth at both the start and turn end at lane 8 is 4 feet and deeper at lane 1. TIMING: Colorado Timing System with touch pads, back-up buttons and electronic scoreboard. Hy- Tek Meet Manager software. SEEDING: The meet will be seeded fastest to slowest. MEET START: Meet start times will be adjusted based on the total number of entrants per session. ACES will post the start times on our web site at http://www.acesswimclub.com/ by noon Wednesday, October 31st. REQUEST for OFFICIALS and ADDITIONAL TIMERS: Teams are encouraged to provide officials to work this meet. Please have all officials contact Linda Eaton by e-mail at Linda_Eaton@msn.com ACES Swim Team will make every attempt to supply timers but may need help. Teams should plan on participating. SAFETY ISSUES: All coaches, officials, parents, and swimmers should act in a safe manner. All participants, visitor coaches and officials should be reminded that swimming venues have areas where additional care is needed. This includes but is not limited to slippery decks and hallways. Proper footwear and caution is recommended. No running or horseplay is allowed; it is the responsibility of the swimmer, coach, officials, and parents to monitor these activities. RULES: Current USA and Colorado Swimming rules shall govern the conduct of the meet. Age of swimmer is determined as of November 2, 2012. Swimmers are limited to four (4) individual events per day, but no more than 8 events total for the meet. All USA Swimming athlete members entered in the meet must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. Any swimmer without a coach in attendance must report to the Meet Director or Meet Referee who may assist the swimmer in making arrangements for such supervision. It is the swimmer s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement and bring proof of certification to the meet. The meet will be pre-seeded except for the 500/1000 Free and 400 IM, which will be deck seeded. The 500 Freestyle and 400 IM will alternate Females and Males. The 500/1000 free and 400 IM require the following: o Swimmers must provide their own timers and counters where appropriate. o Positive check-in closes approximately 1 hour before the event. Seeding procedures will comply with USA Swimming 2012 Rules & Regulations Rule 207.11.7.A. Depending upon the time line, events 200 yards or longer may be deck seeded and require a positive check-in. Information regarding this will be forwarded to the coaches via e-mail the week prior to the meet and posted on our web site at www.acesswimclub.com. FAILURE TO SWIM AFTER A POSITIVE CHECK-IN: Teams whose swimmers check-in for events requiring a positive check-in may be fined $25.00 at the discretion of the Meet Referee for each swimmer who fails to swim in those events. The swimmer may be barred from further competition. This meet will enforce USA Swimming Rules & Regulations Rule 101.1.2, timely reporting to the block area and responding promptly to signals and commands. There will be no refunds if a session is cut short. No exhibition swimming allowed. The Meet Referee will be the final authority for conduct of the meet. WARM UP PROCEDURES: Warm-up will be conducted in accordance with Colorado Swimming Inc. procedures. Backstroke starts are NOT allowed during general warm-up. No equipment may be used during the warm-up periods including but not limited to: fins, paddles, kick boards, pull buoys, cords for assisted or resisted swimming. Coaches will be responsible for the conduct and safety of their swimmers. The warm up schedule will be posted at the pool and on the ACES web site www.acesswimclub.com. The Meet Director will determine the warm-up schedule. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all swimmers holding a 2012/2013 USA Swimming membership card. Any swimmer that appears on the CSI exceptions report without registration must come to the meet prepared to show their card or they will be deck registered before they can enter the water. A surcharge for deck registration will apply, $28.00 year round and $15.00 for seasonal plus the normal registration fee. 2012 CO ACES High Point Open 2
ENTRY FEES: Individual event fee is $5.00 per event. Relays are $6.00/relay. There is a $7.00 surcharge per swimmer. All fees must accompany entries. Make check payable to the Aces Swim Club ($.75 of each entry fee goes to the CSI Splash Fund). Deck/late entries or changes are $7.00 per event. ENTRIES: Each session will be seeded in the order of entry receipt with a tentative timeline for 12 & Under swimmers to complete their events within a planned 4 hours. The ACES Swim Club will make every attempt to provide as many swimmers as possible with an opportunity to participate. Late entries may be accepted only at the Meet Director s discretion, but the meet will not be re-seeded. Please report No Shows to the computer table. Entry times must be in Short Course Yards! The CSI Meet Verification Form must accompany entries. NO-TIME (NT) ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! No Time entries will be rejected. It is recommended that the coach obtain entry times during practice that are well within the ability of the swimmer. Entries will be accepted via e-mail (preferred) or CD s using Hy-Tek Ltd. software. Non-Hy-Tek entries will be accepted in Word or PDF format. When submitting entries in this format, please include name, age (as of the first day of the meet), USA Swimming ID, and team code. Teams sending 5 or more swimmers will be assessed a $25.00 surcharge if entries are not submitted using Hy-Tek software. Please include the coaches name, address, e-mail and phone number with all entries. If you wish to confirm receipt of entries, please contact entry chair via e-mail only. ENTRY OPENING/DEADLINE Entries will be accepted beginning Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM MDT. Entries received prior to the opening will not be accepted. The entry deadline is Monday, Oct 29, 2012. Email entries will be accepted in order they are received, and any entries submitted should be considered official. Full payment for email entry must be postmarked within 48 hours of confirmation and acceptance of entries. Entry updates are permitted, however DELETIONS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. In cases where payment or arrangements for payment are not received within the appropriate time, entries for team/individual may be deleted. AWARDS AND SCORING: Individual s 8 events will be scored. Friday evening events will count in scoring for ages 9 and older. Individual Events: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. 12 & Unders swimming in Open events will not be scored, with the exception of Open 400 IM/500 Free, in which case all age groups will be scored except for 8 & Unders. 8 & Unders may swim the 400 IM/ 500 Free, but no points will be awarded. Custom Trophies presented to the Top Sixteen High Point winners in the 8 & Under, 9-10, and 11-12 year old boys and girls divisions. Custom Trophies presented to the Top Eight High Point winners in the 13-14 boys and girls divisions. Custom Trophies presented to the Top Six High Point winners, senior boys and girls divisions. No team awards. HOSPITALITY: Hospitality will be provided for coaches and officials. REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments will be available on Saturday and Sunday. RESTRICTIONS: USA SWIMMING RULES 103.11 AND 103.12 REGARDING TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL USE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms. The use of visual recording devices is allowed on the deck, but is specifically PROHIBITED in the area directly behind and adjacent to the starting blocks at both ends of the pool. On-deck changing is not allowed. All swimmers entered in the competition must comply with USA Swimming 2012 Rulebook Section 102.8 Swimwear. Parking restrictions may be in effect during the meet.
