We'll start off with a bike fitting session before we set off for our first ride. Today s relaxing warm-up ride features a mix of bike paths, views of the Pacific Ocean and pedaling the palm-lined streets of the exclusive Hope Ranch neighborhood. End your ride when we arrive at Lucky Penny, a favorite Funk Zone pizzeria our Santa Barbara lunch when we reach our lunch spot in the Funk Zone or put in a few more miles with a loop up to Skofield Park. This evening, we'll spend social hour cruising the Santa Barbara shoreline aboard a 50 foot yacht. Enjoy the cool ocean breeze while your guides will fill you in on the details for the rest of the weekend. Countless grape varieties f lourish here thanks to the micro-climates created by ocean breezes sweeping in of f the Pacific and traveling eastward down the valleys, which are ringed by the Santa Ynez and San Rafael mountain ranges. Enjoy the views and notice how the landscape changes as you pedal f rom one vineyard to the next. We ll stop f or a signature Trek Travel picnic at Kenneth Volk vineyards, where you can sample Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria appellation. Afterwards, continue pedaling or take a ride in the van as we cross back into the Santa Ynez Valley appellation, known f or Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet as well as Rhone and Italian varietals. You can sample additional vintages at wineries you pass along the way or in one of the many tasting rooms in Los Olivos. After shuttling back to Santa Barbara, you are free to explore town and enjoy dinner at a restaurant of your choice tonight. Ride along the coast before turning inland to climb up to East Mountain Drive. The jaw-dropping scenery makes this one of the prettiest rides in North America, with stunning panoramic views of private estates in the hills above and the glittering blue expanse of ocean below. If you re up for a challenge, you can take on the classic Gibraltar Road climb, where the views only get better the further you ascend. The rest of the day is yours to discover all that Santa Barbara has to offer. Choose a lunch spot from the array of downtown cafes and bistros, and then shop, pamper yourself with a spa treatment (advance reservations recommended), visit the Old Mission Santa Barbara, or try stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or surfing. Santa Barbara Wine Country is best suit ed for our Type 3 Riders. Our Trek Travel guides can also easily accommodat e Type 2 Riders, who seek less mileage or fewer uphills, with a boost in the van. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about t heir physical ability may want to try our electric bike option you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider.
