NEWS RELEASE No. 2011-SP67 Release date: October 17, 2011 SRI Sports Introduces the New XXIO7 Irons Faster head speed for greater distance, providing a more satisfying swing for the players, psychologically enhances players to want to hit more SRI Sports Limited (Head office: Kobe, Japan; President: Yasushi Nojiri) is pleased to announce the latest introduction to its new irons for XXIO7, the seventh generation of XXIO golf clubs, scheduled to be released in stores on December 9, 2011. The MSRP is 184,800 ( 176,000 excluding tax) for eight piece set (#5-9, PW, AW, SW) with MP700 carbon shafts and 151,200 ( 144,000 excluding tax) for the same set with NS Pro 920GH for XXIO steel shafts. 1 Also available are a five piece set (#6-9, PW) and individual clubs (#4, #5, AW, SW). Popular among a wide range of golfers, the XXIO series has been number one in annual sales 2 for twelve consecutive years in Japan since its first debut in 2000. Using XXIO clubs, Sakura Yokomine and other professional golfers have scored numerous tour victories. The new XXIO7 has undergone a major evolution, featuring new technologies that respond to golfers demand for clubs that offer greater distance and an easier, more satisfying swing. The XXIO7 series irons feature SRI Sports Limited s original Dual Speed Technology 3, which maximizes the effect of the golfer s swing. A newly developed shaft delivers higher head speed than the previous model. At the same time, the heavier club head produces more kinetic energy on impact, resulting in higher ball speed. In addition, XXIO s characteristic to hit a ball high and hard with an exhilarating impact sound has been taken to the next level. With these distance-enhancing technologies, XXIO7 offers even longer flights than XXIO6. This new XXIO7 series with its new technologies will offer golfers sensation of wanting to golf more.
1 The model with NS Pro 920GH for XXIO steel shafts will be released in stores on December 23, 2011. 2 Number one in annual sales for twelve consecutive years in Japan according to a survey conducted by YANO Research Institute Ltd. of total sales of woods and irons by sub-brand, based on total retail sales at major retailers throughout Japan (actuals from January 2000 to August 2011). 3 SRI Sports Limited s original technology, developed to provide both higher head speed and higher ball speed. Key Features of the XXIO7 Irons 1. Innovative Dual Speed Technology maximizes the power of the golfer s swing 1 Higher head speed The irons employ the same MP700 carbon shaft as the driver, providing higher head speed, even with a heavier club head. MP700 shaft The lineup also offers a new steel shaft for a solid swing feel. Jointly developed with Nippon Shaft Co., Ltd., the NS Pro 920GH for XXIO is a steel shaft featuring a counterbalanced center of gravity (CG) design perfectly matched to the XXIO7. 2 Higher ball speed NS Pro 920GH for XXIO (1) Higher club head kinetic energy Club head weight has been increased by 2 g than the previous model to impart more kinetic energy to the ball at impact, resulting in higher ball speed. (2) Sweet spot expanded to match golfer s strike point The new face thickness design is individually customed for each club number to match the golfer s strike point, expanding the sweet area 4 laterally in the middle irons and vertically in the wedge to create higher ball speed. 4 108% compared to previous model
2. XXIO irons great clubs made even better 1 Further advancements in high- and hard-hitting performance Auto Power Impact, which suppresses spin and imparts a higher launch angle to blast the ball farther, has been further refined in the XXIO7. The MP700 carbon shaft with its new rigidity design allows the club tip to flex more fully for a higher launch angle. The CG distance on the club face is also shorter than in the previous model, making the head to return square at impact. These improvements work synergistically for easier return of the head to square at impact. 2 Expanded sweet spot (1) Higher moment of inertia (MOI) The face area employs the same SUPER-TIX PLUS for XXIO highstrength, low-density titanium as the driver for lighter weight. These weight savings are redistributed to the neck 5 and toe 5 areas using tungsten-nickel weights. This increases the club head s MOI, resulting in an expanded sweet spot. 5 Tungsten neck used in #4-7 irons 6 Tungsten weights used in #4-9 irons
