In Memory of my Nana who passed August 10th 2014. She would be a very proud of what I have done in the past years and a half. I love and miss you Nana!
I would like to thank my teachers from preschool through senior year of high school for allowing me to realize my love for writing and children. I would also like to thank all my friends and family for supporting me in my dream of becoming an author.
It was a sunny September day. The sun came into the door.
I was sitting on the top shelf as I yawned and rubbed my eyes,
not knowing if today I would be going home with a loving family.
I had sat on this shelf all season, you see I live in a shop at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs!
It was pretty lonely on my shelf as many customers went in and out. I watched as my friends were taken home.
Then a young man holding a young girl in his arms came into the store.
The man was walking around the store looking at all of my friends below. I knew he would not see me.
But, the little girl looked at me straight in the eyes and I saw a small smile form on her lips.
Then she pointed at me. As the man looked up he smiled too and pulled me off my shelf.
Am I finally going home just like all my other friends did before me?
Sure enough, the man carried me to the cashier!
Off I went. The little girl would not stop squeezing me. I almost could not breath. But, then the man walked to a young woman.
The little girl reached out her hand and leaned towards her. The woman took her out of the man s hands.
These must be the little girl s parents I thought. The father then handed me to the mother.
She held me from the back and pretended to make me kiss the little girl s cheek.
Is this your Cubbie Bear? The Mother asked. The little girl just smiled and grabbed me. I knew I would be loved with my new family.
My adventure was only beginning!
Until the next adventure!
