Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs Dear Students, Faculty and Staff, On behalf of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs, we are pleased to present AUM Homecoming 2018. This year and years to come theme will be AUM Black and Orange and will be representing the excitement of AUM school spirit and growth within student involvement. Each year, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs takes pride in joining with student leaders from the Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, Alumni Office and other AUM Clubs and Organizations. Creating programs and a variety of fun filled activities to celebrate the spirit of Auburn University at Montgomery is always the focus of Homecoming Week. Take a few minutes and review the calendar of events that has offerings for all AUM students. Homecoming week begins Monday, January 22, 2018 and culminates on Saturday, January 27, 2018 with the AUM Women s and Men s Basketball Games. We invite you to celebrate Homecoming by participating in two different ways, first is our 7 th Annual Chancellor s Cup Competition (Team competition). The second way to get involved throughout the week is being nominated to the SGA Homecoming Court. Chancellor s Cup: Each day throughout the week of homecoming there will be a team competition event. The Chancellor s Cup Trophy will be awarded Saturday, January 27, 2018 after the Homecoming Court Coronation. Students: (MUST BE A FULL-TIME or PART-TIME AUM STUDENT in good standing with the university) Teams are formed by (A) Student organizations (B) Individually formed teams (e.g. Housing floors, intramural teams, etc.) (C) Individuals who want to be placed on a team are invited to sign up as free agents to be placed on a team. All teams need to complete the Official Team Application in this packet. Please use this packet as a reference to ensure these competitions are a success. Also, please make sure everyone on your team is aware of the guidelines and rules set forth for all competitions. Homecoming Court: Student clubs and organizations have the opportunity to nominate ONE student per position on the Homecoming Court. Please refer to pages 12-15 of this packet to learn more about the SGA Homecoming Court. HOMECOMING 2018 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS MONDAY, JAN. 22 11AM Warhawk Alley Homecoming Court Orientation and Head Shots All Homecoming Court must attend an informational about expectations and the week s events. 12-12:45 PM Warhawk Alley Chancellor s Cup Event Homecoming Week Kickoff Celebration All teams competing for the week gather in Warhawk Alley to hear from the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs on the details for the week. Everyone is invited to attend the kickoff as there will be refreshments and the Homecoming Court will be introduced 1 PM All of campus Homecoming Court Campaigning Begins TUESDAY, JAN. 23 12-1:30 PM Warhawk Alley Chancellor s Cup Event Trivia Extravaganza All teams competing will go head to head in trivia. Make your way to Warhawk Alley to test your trivia skills and knowledge. This challenge will give each team an opportunity to rack up points to give their team an edge throughout the week. 7:45 PM Goodwyn Hall 109 Homecoming Comedy Show sponsored by Campus Activities Board Prepare to laugh your socks off when Morgan Jay hits the stage. Morgan Jay has performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and MTV. Join us as we host the Los Angeles native in Campus Activities Board s Second Annual Comedy Show. Doors will open at 7:45 pm. Seating is limited. Open to Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff. Students must show student ID. 4

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 24 7 AM-3 PM Check in at Warhawk Alley Chancellor s Cup Event - Give Back to AUM AUM is a beautiful campus and our grounds crew and janitorial staff work very hard to make campus as beautiful as it is. This competition allows all teams competing to join hands with our grounds crew and janitorial staff to Give Back in the effort to keep campus as pretty as it is. **Any Students, Faculty, Staff or Alumni NOT involved with a chancellor s cup team are invited to take part as well. Invitation only. 6-10 PM Behind Ida Belle Young Library Tower Family Weekend Check-in Chancellor s Cup Event - SGA Bonfire and Athletic Pep Rally Join AUM Student Government Association and the Office of Orientation and Transitions as they bring the Warhawk Nation together for the annual pep-rally and concert. All teams competing will earn points for each team member that is in attendance and dressed in AUM spirited attire. Additional points will be given to the team that wins the weeks spirit award. This event is fun for all ages. 5

Lawn games, caricature artist and music will be provided throughout the tailgate. AUM family and friends can bring their picnic baskets, camp stoves and coolers (non-alcoholic beverages only) and join the fun. Students will be served hamburgers and hotdogs. Stay for the games and homecoming court presentation. Chancellor s Cup Points Breakdown Monday: (Kick-Off Celebration: Located in Warhawk Alley) 100 points available (% of team in attendance will determine the total of points earned e.g. 10 people on team roster and 8 members attend event competition 80 points will be awarded) Tuesday: (Trivia Extravaganza: Located in Warhawk Alley) 2 or more team members MUST be in attendance in order to be eligible to earn points Points available will be earned by correct trivia questions answered Wednesday: (Give Back to AUM: Check-in will take place in Warhawk Alley) 500 points available (% of team in attendance will determine the total of points earned e.g. 10 people on team roster and 8 members attend event competition 80% of 500 = 400 points will be awarded) Thursday: Women s and Men s Basketball Costume Spirit Competition (SUPERHERO) 500 points available (% of team in attendance dress up in SUPERHERO Costume will determine the total of points earned e.g. 10 people on team roster and 8 members show up DRESSED UP and stay around to cheer the teams on 80% of 500 = 400 points will be awarded) Friday: (SGA Bon-Fire and Pep-Rally / Family Weekend Check-in) 1000 points available (% of team in attendance will determine the total of points earned e.g. 10 people on team roster and 8 members attend event competition 80% of 1000 = 800 points will be awarded) Bonus Points AUM HOMECOMING COURT Teams that have a member selected to run on the SGA Homecoming Court will earn their team 100 points per person on court. Clubs and Organizations have the opportunity to nominate candidates for: (Freshmen and Sophomore Representatives) - (Juniors and Seniors King and Queen) BANNER COMPETITION (MUST be turned in by noon on Friday to be considered for judging) 1 st Place 500pts. 2 nd Place 250pts. 3 rd Place 125pts 7

Chancellor s Cup: Rules and Regulation - Students teams MUST be full-time or part-time AUM students in good standing with the university - Student teams can be formed by (A) Student organizations (B) Individually formed teams (e.g. Housing floors, intramural teams, etc.) (C) Individuals who want to be placed on a team are invited to sign up as free agents to be placed on a team. - Each team must designate a team captain to serve as the official liaison for rules, etc. for the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs - Depending on the number of teams that register the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs may join teams to create a stronger competition. - Participates may only compete on one team. Once team rosters are submitted no trading can take place. - Team point totals will be announced at various Homecoming Events and e-mailed to your respective team captain at various times throughout the week. - Each competing team member must check-in when attending a Homecoming Event. Only those listed on the team roster will be able to participate at the event. All participants must have their valid Auburn University at Montgomery student ID to participate. - Team rosters must have at least 5 members to compete. - Any unsportsmanlike conduct including, but not limited to, visible intoxication, disorderly behavior, or vandalism of any kind during the week of Homecoming will result in immediate disqualification of a team or an individual at the sole discretion of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs and/or the judge(s) or other officials. 8

Banner Competition Monday, January 22, 2018 - Friday, January 26, 2018 Important Dates: - Banners must be turned in by 12:00pm - noon on Friday, January 26th to Warhawk Alley front desk. - All banners will be hung in the AUM Gym Rules and Guidelines: - Banners must be no bigger than a King Size, flat sheet (not fitted). - Profanity or obscenities on the banner will result in disqualification, as determined by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs. (If you are using the opponent s logo, please do so in good taste). - The only mandated design components are: 1) Name of the organization or team must be clearly seen and spelled out on the banner. 2) AUM Homecoming 2017 must appear somewhere on the banner. - The banner must be accompanied by an index card with team name and banner description. - If your group would like their banner back after Homecoming, please indicate on the index card by writing WOULD LIKE TO KEEP BANNER. Banners without a request will be disposed of at the conclusion of Homecoming. - Banners will be available for pick up in the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs (Warhawk Alley front desk on Monday, January 29, 2018. Please make arrangements to have someone retrieve your banner on this day. If your banner is not retrieved after one week, it will be discarded. Scoring: - Judging based upon Display of school spirit 30% Originality and Design 30% Overall appearance 40% 9

Official Team Application The rest of this packet must be turned in to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs. All previous pages should be kept for your reference. To participate in ANY aspect of the team competition each player must be added on the roster sheet. PLEASE be aware that no participants will be added to a team roster after this form is submitted. All team members must sign the attached roster sheet agreeing to the participation agreement below. Also, please email a team rooster to studentinvolvement@aum.edu by Friday, January 19, 2018. Please attach all additional forms to your application as well. Participation Agreement By signing, I have read and completely understand the contests of the Homecoming Participation Packet. I understand that I must abide by the Homecoming rules and guidelines for team competitions and must meet all deadlines set by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs in order to participate. I am fully aware that if I violate the rules and guidelines outlined, my team will automatically be disqualified. I also understand that Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs reserve the right to disqualify any team for misconduct during the week of Homecoming. I also allow the Homecoming committee and the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs to use any photographs and/or videos taken during the performance on their promotional materials and website. 2017 Homecoming Court Application Please return to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs located in the Taylor Center (Warhawk Alley) by Friday, January 12, 2017. All applicants must be undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. All applicants must be nominated by a student club or organization, an active team competing within the Chancellor s Cup or an AUM athletic team, previous winners of the Homecoming Court may not run again for the same position. There are 4 winners that can run throughout the week of Homecoming. The positions that are available to be nominated are for: (freshmen and sophomores) Representatives (juniors and seniors) King and Queen. Those that are nominated will be notified via phone call by Friday, January 12, 2018 to make a reservation for an interview on Thursday, January 18 or Friday, January 19, 2018. Each candidate that is selected from the interview process that agrees to run during Homecoming Week MUST attend a mandatory orientation meeting Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11am in Warhawk Alley. After this meeting each of the candidates will have their head shot picture taken to go online. These pictures are to go on the online ballot for elections. Elections for the Homecoming Court will begin on Thursday, January 25 th at 8AM and end on that night at 11:59PM. The Court winners will be announced on January 27, 2018 between the women and men s basketball games. Homecoming Court Interview Process and Procedures: Interviews: There will be one round of interviews. During these interviews, a judging panel will rank their choices for the Homecoming Court. Criteria: - Interviews are scheduled for: January 18 and 19, 2018 - The location of the interviews will be held in the Student Affairs Conference Room (Taylor Center 158) - Each Interview will last approximately 10 minutes - Judges will be allotted time in between interviews for discussion - Candidates need to arrive at least 10 minutes before their interview - Candidates will wear business attire. Interview question may pertain to the following topics or be of the following nature: - Information regarding Auburn University at Montgomery - Career goals and future plans - Personal convictions and beliefs - Insight from past experiences - Leadership experiences at Auburn University at Montgomery Interview Format: 1. The panel of judges will take turns asking each candidate questions during the interview. The same question may OR may NOT be asked in each interview. 2. Be yourself, and remain confident. 3. Judges will score based on personality, appearance, poise, confidence, communication abilities, leadership qualities and overall Warhawk Pride. 14

Homecoming Court Campaign Laws 1. Candidates may distribute flyers throughout the AUM Campus just as long as it follows the universities sign policy. 2. Candidates may paint car windows and place magnets on cars. The owners of the car must agree to have these forms of campaign material placed on their vehicle. The car paint should in no manner obstruct the drivers vision. 3. Candidates may use sidewalk chalk but may not put the chalk on any brick surfaces or on buildings. 4. Candidates may make appointments with organizations to speak with student organizations. Candidates may not distribute any items other than those listed in # 5-8 5. Candidates my use social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to campaign. Facebook flyers and similar advertisements are permitted. 6. Candidates may have forty (40) campaign signs that are the size of a standard 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of paper or smaller. 7. Candidates may have twenty (20) posters, no larger than 11X18 8. Candidates may print stickers to distribute. 9. Candidates are required to remove all campaign material within 24 hours following the closing of the election polls. Failure to do so will result in disqualification or even appropriate action, which will be determined at the discretion of the SGA Associate Justice / Sergeant at Arms 10. The destruction of campaign material prior to or on Election days will be strictly prohibited. Violations will be reprimanded at the discretion of the SGA Associate Justice / Sergeant at Arms. 11. Falsifying information or submitting false information on the application. For example: grades, signatures, classification will be strictly prohibited. Violation will be punished at the discretion of the SGA Associate Justice / Sergeant at Arms. The candidate who submitted the falsified application will be ineligible. 12. Any AUM student shall have the right to report campaign and election violations to the SGA Homecoming Committee Chair. Any violations must be reported within a 24-hour time frame from the time of the violation. Compliant forms are available in SGA Office. 13. Any slanderous or libelous action must be reported to the SGA Homecoming Committee Chair immediately, these actions will not be tolerated. If such actions occur, The Chief Justice will hold a hearing. The issue may be submitted to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs for further action. 14. The SGA Homecoming Committee Chair and Associate Justice / Sergeant at Arms reserve the right to investigate any candidate and campaign conduct at any time for any reason. 15.
