The First Tee is a youth development program. Participants advance from one level to the next based on their progression and mastery of various LIFE and GOLF skills. The time it takes for a participant to advance from one level to the next varies with each participant. It is common for participants to repeat classes at every level. Participants must meet certain requirements (including age) before advancing to a new level. *Certification Day is to ensure every participant certified in the Player, Par, Birdie, Eagle levels and has acquired a designated level of golf and life skills. Some participants may not need the full allotted time to achieve next level. Frequently Asked Questions for Parents and Participants 1. What should kids expect? To have fun while learning some Life and Golf Skills. 2. What is expected of kids? To arrive 10 minutes prior to session start time to sign in; To be dressed appropriately (no jeans, tank tops, or ripped shirts; collared shirts are preferred but not required. Participants must wear sneakers or golf shoes and, if necessary, bring a rain slicker or jacket); To be respectful and courteous to other members of the program staff; To respect other people who are working on their golf game at the same site; To handle equipment safely and appropriately. 3. Where do kids get dropped off and sign- in? Parents may drop their children off at the 1010 Riverside Street, Riverside South Course First Tee room. Participants should come inside the building where they are to sign in and receive clubs if needed. If you have clubs please drop them off outside on the rocks at the side of the building and then sign in. 4. Do you provide equipment or do the participants need to bring their own clubs? TFTMAINE provides equipment, but participants are also allowed to bring their own equipment. We suggest that all clubs are marked as we cannot be responsible for lost items. 5. Are drinks provided? TFTMAINE will make an effort to have water on hand for the kids, and there are drinks and snacks available for sale at the South Course Pro Shop.

6. What kind of screening do you do for your staff and volunteers to ensure my child s safety? We conduct background checks, which include Criminal and Sex Offender searches. 7. Where can I reach someone in an emergency while my child is attending TFTMAINE? Please call the Riverside North course location directly, at 797-3524 and ask the staff to send a person to TFTMAINE location. 8. Where will I pick my child up after the session is over? Parents should check with TFTMAINE staff member to see the location that day session will be at and can pick our child up there or back at the conference room where participants sign- in at. 9. What about bug spray and sunscreen? If necessary, and at your discretion, please be sure you or your child has applied sunscreen and/or bug spray as we are not allowed to supply these items to the participants. 10. How can I check on information about TFTMAINE? We currently have a web site for more information about our program for you to review and to let other know about us at www.thefirstteemaine.org 11.
