A turkey trot is a fun run or footrace, typically between 5,000 and 42,195 meters, that is held on or around Thanksgiving Day in the United States; The Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot, held on Thanksgiving morning, is a 5,000 meter road race, otherwise known as a 5K. The Buffalo Turkey Trot is the oldest continually running public footrace (established in 1896) in the United States, attracting 14,000 runners. The Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot began in 2011, and has grown to more than 2,500 runners in 7 years.
