Purpose and Values of Cheerleading To create school and community spirit, pride and loyalty. To cheer at all, home and away, Creekview Jr. Football games. To develop responsibility, leadership, organizational skills and punctuality. To develop self-respect, self-control, and self-confidence. To encourage honest effort, develop good character, and strive to uphold the highest personal, as well as cheerleading, standards. To show courtesy, tolerance and respect to others. To teach teamwork and pride in a quality performance while also maintaining good sportsmanship. To encourage physical fitness, coordination, and a healthy lifestyle. To have fun. III. Uniforms Each cheerleader will be fitted for: a uniform (which includes a skirt, shell, sweat shirt, and bloomers), shoes, practice shirt, shorts and warm-ups. A parent must attend the fitting and sign off on size. Cheerleaders will also receive a cheer bag, pom poms, bow and any accessories required. DO NOT DRY CLEAN or IRON THE UNIFORM IV. Practices Practices are mandatory. Illness and death in the family are the only excused absences, and you must call the team mom and inform them as to why you are going to be absent. If you are sick, you must have a doctor s excuse. Spring practices will begin once the squads are formed. This provides cheerleaders a chance to become familiar with the cheers and practice over the summer before the season begins. Practices will be after school beginning in the fall. Cheerleaders should head to the bathrooms after the second load bell and change. As soon as they are changed, they should go to the hall outside the cafeteria and quietly eat their snack. The girls are not to disturb other students or faculty during this time. Cheerleaders should come to practice in designated cheer shirt, shorts and shoes. Hair must be up in a ponytail. No fingernails beyond the end of the finger tips. No jewelry. It is the parent s responsibility to ensure that cheerleaders are picked up from all practices on time and arrive at all events on time. V. Games Cheerleaders must attend all games. Illness and death in the family are the only excused absences, and you must call the team mom and inform them as to why you are going to be absent. If you are sick, you must have a doctor s excuse. This includes pre-season games and play-offs. Captains will be chosen weekly by the team moms/trainers based on several factors including, but not limited to attitude, respect for others, team commitment and attendance. Not all girls are guaranteed to be captain. This will be at the discretion of the team moms/trainers. Some games may fall during a holiday weekend; however, cheerleaders are still expected to attend. Cheerleaders must arrive 1 hour before the game to prepare for run through of half time performance.

Cheerleaders must be in full uniform when they arrive at the game. Any cheerleader not prepared for the game (bow, uniform, shoes, poms, etc) will need to sit out until they are identical to the rest of the squad. Please keep warm up pants, pom poms and jacket in cheer bag at all times. While in uniform, cheerleaders are not allowed to wear jewelry. This includes body piercing such as belly rings, ear piercing, cartilage piercing, rings, anklets, and necklaces, feather extensions etc. During a game with inclement weather, the squad is required to stay on the field and continue to perform unless the game has been suspended or they have been dismissed by their coach. Creekland Middle School Competition cheerleader's absences will be excused if a competition should interfere with a game. Frequent absences, excused or unexcused, may result in the cheerleader being removed from the squad. Financial Commitment I also understand that there is a financial commitment on my part if my child is chosen for a squad. The financial responsibilities of a cheerleader include the cost of uniforms, booster fees, spirit materials, camp, instruction and coaching. Cheerleaders will be expected to meet their financial responsibilities. If a cheerleader is more than 30 days in arrears for squad expenses, the cheerleader will be benched until payment is received. Additionally, if a check is returned for Non-sufficient funds you will be charged for all banking fees associated with the check and future payments must be made in cash only.
