GORDO STILL WINGING IT--Five-time Rawlings Gold Glove winner Alex Gordon continues to be tested by opposing baserunners, despite being the most prolific outfielder in assists since moving from the infield in 2010...he most recently nabbed Logan Morrison on July 10 at Target Field, when the Kansas City native tried to stretch a double off the wall into a triple, but was denied by Gordon...it was Alex s eighth outfield assist this season, tying him for third in the AL and one behind league leaders Mitch Haniger and Leonys Martin...it was also Gordo s 90th assist since the beginning of 2010, which is two ahead of Colorado s Gerardo Parra (88), who ranks second in that span...his career total is also the second-most in Royals history, trailing only Amos Otis, who had 116 between 1970-83. ROYALS, OMAHA SIGN TWO-YEAR EXTENSION--The Royals and Omaha Storm Chasers announced a two-year extension to their Player Development Contract (PDC) last Friday, extending the clubs partnership through the 2020 campaign...both clubs are celebrating their 50th seasons this year as Omaha has been the home of Kansas City s Triple-A affiliate since the beginning, in 1969...dating back to 69, the Omaha franchise has posted a 3,533-3,499 record, including 16 Division titles, seven League Championships as well as three Triple-A Championships, including back-to-back titles during the 2013 and 2014 campaigns. KC S TOP SKIPPER--The winningest manager in franchise history, Ned Yost recorded his 1,100th career win on May 18 vs. the Yankees and has since upped that career total to 1,116, which is good for seventh among active skippers, while Detroit s Ron Gardenhire is next in the eighth spot with 1,111 career wins... with Sunday s win, Ned passed former Pittsburgh skipper, Danny Murtaugh (1,115), for 52nd on the all-time list...yost is 659-701 in the regular season with the Royals, blowing past Whitey Herzog s previous team mark of 410 wins (1975-79)...he s the 16th full-time manager in franchise history and is sixth among active managers in games (2,319)...his postseason winning pct. of.710 (22-9) is tops among all managers in history who have worked at least 20 playoff games... this is his second stint as a big league manager after nearly six full campaigns at the helm for the Milwaukee Brewers (2003-2008)...he compiled a 457-502 record with the Brew Crew including a 166-146 mark in his last two seasons. vs. Tigers (2018) vs. Tigers (career) At Home (career) Zimmermann (career) Boyd (career) Player AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI AVG AB H HR RBI Bonifacio.333 3 1 0 0.292 65 19 1 3.252 218 55 8 17.333 3 1 0 0.125 8 1 0 0 Butera.313 16 5 0 2.219 96 21 2 13.202 589 119 4 41.000 2 0 0 0.000 5 0 0 0 Dozier.000 2 0 0 0.000 2 0 0 0.192 120 23 3 8 - - - - - - - - - - Duda.273 33 9 0 7.262 42 11 0 7.247 1406 347 79 214.238 42 10 1 3 - - - - - Escobar.263 38 10 0 0.254 507 129 6 46.260 2483 645 19 221.267 15 4 0 0.381 21 8 0 3 Goodwin 1.000 2 2 0 0 1.000 2 2 0 0.267 187 50 10 23 - - - - - - - - - - Gordon.222 18 4 1 1.239 587 140 20 72.259 2641 683 79 334.267 15 4 0 0.154 13 2 0 1 Herrera.600 5 3 0 0.600 5 3 0 0.305 59 18 0 4 - - - - - - - - - - Merrifield.262 42 11 2 4.329 158 52 5 20.299 642 192 17 82.364 11 4 0 1.438 16 7 0 4 Mondesi - - - - -.241 29 7 2 4.189 122 23 1 8.500 2 1 0 1 - - - - - Moustakas.214 42 9 2 9.233 395 92 10 37.255 1605 409 58 215.154 13 2 0 0.333 18 6 1 4 Perez.222 18 4 1 3.293 375 110 18 64.264 1581 417 48 220.273 11 3 0 0.286 21 6 2 6 Starting Pitchers Breakdown Total KC Avg.
