For postal address changes, please advise Wendy Sherriff on wsherrif@bigpond.net.au For e-mail changes, please advise Jayne Shepherd on Jayne.shepherd@taswater.com.au Fees & Withdrawing from Squads South Esk lanes hire and coaching schedules are locked in for each season in 6 month blocks. Our fees are based on the estimated charges for each season divided by the number of swimmers. For this reason South Esk lane hire and coaching fees are a 6 monthly charge for the season, not a charge by the month (much the same as other sports where you register and pay up front for the season). The club offer members the opportunity to pay in instalments to ease the financial burden. The 6 month fee remains due and payable even where a swimmer ceases swimming with the club during the season and it is the member s responsibility to inform the head coach and club president if they are withdrawing. South Esk has a policy to remit charges only in the case of injury or illness in 4 week blocks. Applications for a fee remission must be submitted in writing to the committee for assessment on a case by case basis. SATURDAY 3 JANUARY 2015 Morning: 2 x 50m lanes 1,2 7am-9am TASS 7am-8:30am SCS, JSS, Gold Seals

South Esk Newsletter November/December 14 Page 5 President s Blog Hello all Well once again here we are once more with only 3 sleeps to go until the big guy in red (hopefully) pays us all a visit! Thank you to the families who attended yesterday s South Esk Christmas family get together. Apart from the annoying wind, it was a great opportunity to take a breath, relax and reflect on the last 12 months. It was also great for the children to run around and participate in some fun activities at the pool, which they don t often have a chance to do. Thank you also to those who attended the Burnie 100. Once again we endured every season possible in one day, though it was nice to be able to kick back and chat or snooze on the bus trip home. All in all it was a very successful day with the club winning the junior challenge cup and club relay cup. Well done team. Our team also performed brilliantly at the recent Northern Regional Championships. We had 50+ swimmers participating over the weekend and it was fantastic to see so many blue caps lining up on the blocks so congratulations to all South Esk participants you did the club proud! Congratulations to Aran Miller on his performances in Morelia, Mexico at the World Down Syndrome Championships. Aran returned home with 6 x Gold, 2 x Silver and a Bronze. Aran also topped this off at the recent time trial in Launceston where he set a new provisional long course National AND World record in the 50m Backstroke. Aran works extremely hard and we are so proud of this this wonderful young man and his beautiful family. Five South Esk swimmers recently returned from a very successful campaign at the Victorian Age Championships held in Melbourne 13 to 18 December 2014. Henry Shepherd, James Curran, Morgen Hawkins, Matthew Howard and Taylor Raine joined other Tasmanian swimmers to register one of the best campaigns by Tasmanian swimmers at this event for a number of years. James Curran lead the charge returning from Melbourne with two Gold, three Silver and two Bronze medals PLUS five 2015 National Age Qualifying times (see details below). Morgen Hawkins also achieved a 2015 National Age Qualifying time in the 100m Breastroke which has been a goal she has been working towards for the last 12 months. Taylor Raine made the final of the 50m Freestyle, placing 9th overall. Henry and Matthew recorded personal best times in all their events. Congratulations to all! As this is my last blog for the year 2014 I would like to thank the following members of the South Esk family: Coaches, Ketrina, Geoff, Brenda, Clare, Erica, Christian, Jenny, Joanne, Anne-Marie, Alex, John and Jo-ellen. Our club is so lucky to have 12 qualified, extremely competent and generous coaches. Thank you for the support, expertise and coaching provided to our children both in and out of the pool. A special thank you to our head coach, Ketrina, 2014 Tasmanian Coach of the Year!, for her ongoing commitment to our swimmers, coaches and club overall, and for all the support and assistance shown to myself and the committee over the last 12 months; Committee Lee, Wendy, Brenda, Simone, Karen and Michael. It is no accident the South Esk club continues to grow substantially whilst maintaining a strong financial and administrative position. It is due to responsible hard-work and commitment over the last 12 months and beyond; Khai, Jane McC and Narelle. Our club is very lucky to have such wonderful people volunteering their time to assist the club, and swimming overall, on a regular basis; Captains Morgan & Thomas and Vice-Captains Alex and Jake. Thank you for your assistance at training sessions and leading warm-ups. I look forward to working with you as you provide ideas to the committee and continue to support our swimmers, especially the juniors. Parents, friends and families of South Esk. Whether it is getting your children to training, organising entries, travelling to and attending swim meets or assisting at swim meets our club is very lucky to have such a close, committed group of family and friends the backbone of any organisation. Swimmers I am continually in awe of you all. The dedication shown to training, team work, support and encouragement shown to others together with your overall commitment and loyalty to the South Esk Club make it an absolute delight to be a part of. Continue to dream, continue to set goals, continue to work hard and your dreams will come true. Have a wonderful, relaxing Christmas shared with family and friends. I look forward to seeing you all on the other side as we head into the year 2015 and championships season. Stay safe and see you at the pool! Jayne
